[wds] Access Denied When Attempting To Add New Install Image
DreddMetal replied to DreddMetal's topic in O/S Deployment
Just thought I'd give you guys a quick update, managed to get it working. . . kinda. . . removed wds role from the server, rebooted the server, completely deleted the remoteinstall folder, re-ran wds wizard and got it all configured, added the boot image and the blank install image fine again, came to add my image again and got access denied! Oddly though the image added fine when I told it to create a new image group, very bizarre. Thanks for all your suggestions though guys -
[wds] Access Denied When Attempting To Add New Install Image
DreddMetal replied to DreddMetal's topic in O/S Deployment
I can create files and folders in the remoteinstall folder when browsing to it through the network as well as the sub folder for the image group I don't recall installing WAIK at all and the server hasn't had sp1 installed yet -
[wds] Access Denied When Attempting To Add New Install Image

All NTFS permissions seem ok, again added everyone to it with full access rights, looked in the event logs for WDS and there is nothing in there other than clients managing to connect and download TFTP. -

yup, logged on as the domain administrator, checked the share permissions on the remoteinstall folder and even added the eceryone group with full access to make doubly sure still no joy -

[wds] Access Denied When Attempting To Add New Install Image
DreddMetal posted a topic in O/S Deployment
Has anyone come across this before? I have WDS setup and appears to be functional on Server 2008 R2, managed to add a boot image fine but when I come to add an install image it goes away and thinks about it for a minute then comes back with the not so helpful error of "Access Denied" I have been googling for a while but haven't really found anything useful yet. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adrian -
Hi guys and gals, Was just wondering if anyone else had seen something similar to this, I have JRE 6 Update 13 been deployed from the server (as I have at another school with no problems) however when I got to a webiste that uses a java applet as a domain user (besides the domain admin user which works fine) the applet refuses to load and when I check the console I get the following jibberish: Java Plug-in 1.6.0_13 Using JRE version 1.6.0_13 Java HotSpot Client VM User home directory = C:\Documents and Settings\javatest -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- c: clear console window f: finalize objects on finalization queue g: garbage collect h: display this help message l: dump classloader list m: print memory usage o: trigger logging q: hide console r: reload policy configuration s: dump system and deployment properties t: dump thread list v: dump thread stack x: clear classloader cache 0-5: set trace level to -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- load: class JavaVersionDisplayApplet.class not found. java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaVersionDisplayApplet.class at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.findClass(Un known Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2ClassLoader.loadCode(Unk nown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager.createApplet(Unk nown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$AppletExecutionR unnable.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Caused by: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketConnect(Native Method) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.doConnect(Unknown Source) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connectToAddress(Unknown Source) at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.SocksSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source) at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.NetworkClient.doConnect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.http://www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.http://www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source) at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.(Unknown Source) at sun.net.http://www.http.HttpClient.New(Unknown Source) at sun.net.http://www.http.HttpClient.New(Unknown Source) at sun.net.http://www.protocol.http.HttpURLConn...Client(Unknown Source) at sun.net.http://www.protocol.http.HttpURLConn...onnect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.http://www.protocol.http.HttpURLConn...onnect(Unknown Source) at sun.net.http://www.protocol.http.HttpURLConn...Stream(Unknown Source) at java.net.HttpURLConnection.getResponseCode(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.getBytes(Unk nown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader.access$000(U nknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ClassLoader$1.run(Unknow n Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) ... 7 more Exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaVersionDisplayApplet.class Local users work and I have even tried giving a standard domain user both local and domain admin rights as a test to see if that would work but sadly not. Please has anyone seen this before as I am completely stumped now, I have been through all group policies on the server and can't find anything that would interfere with java in such a way I have even tried removing the deploy policy for java, uninstalling it, running ccleaner reg fixes and then installing it straight from the website with no luck Thanks in advance for any help offered, Adrian

Yes the main compettion really would be programs such as homecontact as you stated steve, the main thing that stops schools using programs like that though are the costs themselves which are quite hefty I believe, or at least they were the last time I looked into them. This site is currently free for all to use whilst it is getting its footing however the most likely thing will be that the people recieving txt notifications will be charged a very small amount to cover the costs of this service. Schools may well find this preferable to software such as homecontact as the school themselves do not incur any cost.

Thanks for all the feed back people, much appreciated. From the sounds of it the main concern is duplicating what is already done, but this site does it differently, it gets the information directly to those who want it instead of them actually having to search for it. The idea is that not everyone would bother to listen to the radio or check the school websites that often unless there is a concern that the school MAY be closed, for example 2cm of snow on the ground. In the cases of say gas leaks, power failures and many other unforseen events many parents would still turn up to the school and be sent away because it isn't safe for the children to be there, in these cases how are the parents supposed to know? Would it not be handy to have an email sent straight to your in box or a text message to your phone before you go through the trouble of fighting through rush hour traffic just to be turned away? No-one checks for school closures on a daily basis, this site is just a quick and easy way for the school to notify all parents and staff members who subscribe to that school to let them know that the school is closed in an instant. As for the issue of pupils shutting the school down that is why the notifications are labelled as UNVERIFIED until the school themselves confirm the closure, this site is still a work in progress and is continuely been updated and this method may well be restructured in the near future.

Hi guys and gals, We have been working on a website I thought you might like to know about that could prove useful to you and your schools. Basically how it works is a parent/teacher searches for the school where their child or they themselves attend, instantly they will be able to see on the site whether the school has been announced as open or closed. Doesn't sound like much I know but the good part is that they can register their email address (verification required to stop other people signing you up) and you wll then get an instant email notification everytime the status of your assigned school changes! You can also register your mobile phone number to recieve the same notification through SMS! Anyone can change the status of a school through the website, once a status change has been initialized notifications are sent out to those who requested them statig that the schools status has changed but is UNVERIFIED. We will then contact the school to verify this information (we are currently wrking on a way of automating this), once the school has verified its status a further notification will be sent out stating this. Please give it a shot and let me know what you think, any and all suggestion welcome. School Closures - Closure alerts for schools
