No budgester I don't agree with you. I think it's a legitimate posting highlighting unacceptable - so called farming practice in the USA. As stated in the clip this practice is banned in the EU and most other American companies are outlawing it as well. If humans didn't eat meat then there would be no need for cows, sheep, chickens, pigs etc and farming has kept these species thriving on this overcrowded planet. However, farming has surely got to be humane and unacceptable practice such as this and USA factory dairy farming planned for the UK as illustrated in the campaign by 38 degrees is surely unacceptable for fair minded folk?

Does it work using other methods - Filezilla for instance? I haven't used it myself but I wonder if it's a Docman issue?

Strange issue with a Teachers Windows 7 PC used for Smartboard work. It was working fine and had sound but now the sound is not playing. In Sounds from the control panel it's not picked up the USB as a device now. I'm positive it was working ok before though. I'm a bit stumped as to where to look next? Turned out to be a disappeared end of a USB which should have been plugged into the master speaker - hiding somewhere behind the board. Fitted a new USB between the computer and speaker - now have a happy teacher!

Sweeite gift from Head and a few cards from the other staff - most know not to bother as they know I hate Birthdays and Christmas. Thanks Matt, We have one of the new Energy Display meters and looking at that it seems all three phases are at a steady between 246V and 248V. Next time I notice the UPS on Trim I'll have another look. We do have a Belkin UPS on the Admin machine and a Relios on an old server and neither of them throw up any similar problems. I have now changed the APC's settings to an upper of 263V and the nominal to 240V and haven't had any reports from the APC since. It is close on 3 years old so is out of warranty - any ideas of a standard life for the onboard batteries - showing green currently?

We have an APC UPS 1500 which frequently trims due to reported extended over voltage issues. The help files tell me that to work around this I need to set the Upper Voltage to the highest setting and set the sensitivity to low. Sensitivity is set at low already. High transfer Voltage 253 Low transfer voltage 208 and nominal voltage 230 I see I can set the upper voltage to 267 would there be any reason not to do this?

We have one of those handy little hand held laser pointer remote from PC mouse things - usb plugs into the PC. Been working fine till the latest attempt to use it and it's dead. I'm presuming there is an onboard button battery that needs replacing but the thing is screwless and there isn't an obvious way to open it and see. Anyone else run into this and found a solution by any chance?

Thanks Arthur, I had a crack before on this machine at resizing the D: to create some free space and expand the C: to fill that with G Parted but couldn't get my head round why it wouldn't work. Should have been easy according to all I read about it but I just didn't get the hang of it. Perhaps I need to have another go with some other software?

Thanks for the quick response and multiple answers guys and gals. Sounds like ultimately the computer is heading toward a wipe and reinstall - several programmes are currently set to run from the D: drive.

Ah yes silly me forgot to specify the OS!! It's XP Pro. So if i was to do the right click and specify action would the SIMS programme follow the data or would it hang looking for it on the C: drive?

The home pc my family use to play the SIMS game on has a 100GB Hard Drive separated as a 30GB C: OS Drive and a D: Data for the remainder. Was working well. Discovered today that the C: drive was almost full. Searching through it is clear that the family playing SIMS is the culprit as a lot of data is stored in their Documents and Settings Documents folders on the C: drive. Plenty of room on the D: drive - is there any way of moving the user Docs and Settings to the D: drive without screwing the games up?

Ours was installed a couple of weeks ago - not been able to get the teachers to have a gander at he lesson plans yet but As a Green Flag Eco School the dashboard is already throwing up some useful data:

Two jobs: Primary - four days a week, 3 servers 70 workstations, 9 classes. Two hours ICT Clubs, run web site and generally help in ICT Suite with classes when they are in. Suspect that under budgetary constraints this will be chopped though - ICT here currently being Benchmarked and found to be significantly higher cost than in comparable schools. Biggest fear that the school will go the what seems popular route of recent times - outsource to an every hungry and expanding IT Provider in the County. Leaves me wondering how safe my position will be. Secondary (BSED). Circa 70 boys on role. Two servers (Curriculum and Admin) 110 and rising number of workstations. A day a week and trying to build a Joomla Web for them as well.

Fair point Somabc! Thankfully other people responding are aware of my inexperience and realised I was talking about converting files saved from a video camera (which currently fail to upload to SWGfL Merlin) to something that will upload and have given me several really useful answers which I have now passed on to the teacher who asked me to look into it.

Thanks SpuffMonkey - that's the problem I wasn't at all what format is best suited as the current avi format doesn't seem to be happy going up to the SWGfL portal.

I'm trying to find free software that will convert .avi files to a format that can be uploaded to our SWGfL Merlin portal. Currently the teacher has tried to upload .avi and it doesn't go.

Thanks FragglePete, Your a starman. I'm thinking that as this is the second time SWGfL have so badly let us down they are not proving themselves up to the job of web hosting so perhaps it's time to look at hosting elsewhere where reliability and value for money is the name of the game. Any idas?

Agree with localzuk - if the Labour Government hadn't flogged off most of the gold reserves (with the price gold has risen to now that would have been a pretty pile of dosh) and squandered revenue from the Scottish oilfields then the Country would be in a much better financial situation than it currently is that's for sure.

I recently found Civica Services Ltd not actually bought anything through them yet but they handled my enquiry well, confirmed that our School was entitled under the Agreement in place with the LEA and SWGfL and gave me a very competitive price quote for licences.
