My Headteacher was talking web sites today and asked me to have a look at: Welcome to Blandford St Mary Primary School Website! It's a site that she found and likes the look of. I can't make out what it's built in - anyone any idead and comments please. Our existing site is a Edugeek Joomla - she is happy with it but for the next development wanted me to explore a bit.

How come Windows Media Player works fine and dandy away from the domain but on domain workstations it won't run properly complaining about missing codecs?

Just a thought - have you tried running updates from the Toshiba support site - I had a similar problem with some Fujitsu Siemens base units connected to Acer TFT's running the Fujitsu update sorted it for me.

Got a teacher who recently purchased Sony VAIO VPCJ11M1E/B Touchscreen All-in-one PC - Misco.co.uk seems to do all he wants and more but as he didn't specify the OS it came with windows 7 Home edition so won't join the network!

Getting an annoying issue with IE8 and suggested sites toolbar / favourites. I haven't checked it out with all users yet but certainly a member of the teaching staff and myself are affected - when I or she changes the suggested sites toolbar it repeats across on the other users toolbar. have turned off suggested sites in Group Policy but it's still happening. We have a Windows 2008 Server and predominantly XP Network. Looking further in it today I noticed when I was trying to add a site to my Favourites the default setting seems to sit in Any suggestions how to work around this one please?

Gone that route as well but ours are Toshibas now maintained by Portrayal - COPY : PRINT : SCAN : FAX : ARCHIVE formerly Penninsula - our Admin staff do a wonderful job keeping the toners up to date

Got a strange issue with IE8 and it's favourites bar. Win XP Pro workstations Server 2008 environment. One of the teachers is picking up my IE8 favourites bar settings on her workstation. She has just a normal Teacher user set up and mine's Admin. I have killed Suggested sites in Group Policy and reset IE8 on her PC but still the problem persists - any ideas on where to look now please guys and gals?

Got a technology KS3 / 4 teacher using Birchfield software runs fine but has a weird display issue. Primary display fine but secondary (Smartboard or monitor whichever is set as secondary) the display restricts ijtself to about three quarters of the screen - anyone else experienced this?

Got a new Sony VPCJ1 with Windows 7 OS it's currently stuck in a Workgroup - logged on as Admin and in settings the join domain option is greyed out?

Worked it out - I needed to resize several times to get them down to thumbnail size. TVM all you folks who put me on the right track.

Bump - any more thoughts on this please? It's the need to resize each one after bringing it into Word that the teacher wants to cut out.

Thanks Lazerblazer, I have now run the FastStone resizer nifty bit of software thanks for recommending it. Now made the images 25% but still on inserting them into Word have to mess about resizing them again?

Recently a teacher asked me if there is a way to access thumbnail sized images of his photos - currently he is using Word to produce a document containing pictures of Huff and Puf play equipment and pulling up the images has to resize each one to get it to fit the document. Is there a way?

These folk Computer Components - Spire Online recently contacted me they carry out screen repairs from £99

I have a BT landline and Orange Broadband - been very happy with Orange Broadband, despite the offshore call centres they have always been on the ball and as a longstanding customer they agreed a really decent tarrif when I told them I was thinking of moving. I looked at the Virgin package which was a recent mail drop to households round here. Spoke to a very helpful UK call centre lady who checked it out for me and explained that currently we aren't covered by Virgin fiber optic so would still be stuck with a service down the BT line - so till thay changes I'm sticking with what we have.
