  1. That's a cracker TVM.
  2. Thanks for the replies folks. I think ricki has given me a good pointer where to start looking - unforyunately I'm only at that school a day a week so can't get on top of those sort of issues as instantly as I'd like.
  3. Thanks Jay, I first spotted the problem happening when I went on one of the Teacher workstations to run some updates (Adobe etc) after doing that she logged back on and not long after mentioned that all her Favorites bar URLs had been replaced by mine! Clearing them off she then added her own and now on another workstation I found that mine had all vanished and been replaced with her new ones. Looking at the Favourites that pop up when I log on now I see that I'm picking up all the teachers favourites. It's like as if we are sharing a profile for just IE8 - we don't have mandatory nor roming profiles set up. I hope this makes a bit more sense now? [/quote=jpaterson;591811]I'm not 100% on what your problem is. Any chance you could clarify?
  4. Bumpety bump. No one else experienced this then? It's not a mountain of a problem but I haven't a clue where to look next to try and sort it out as clearly it's not meant to work like that!!
  5. I know I should know but am at sea on how to sort out a Windows Server 2008 / XP Pro network problem I'm experiencing where IE8 settings are being shared by all staff Anyone give me a clue where to start looking please?
  6. Anything to do with the remote Registry Service I wonder - we just started to get some Windows 7 OS PC's I disabled it on them and that seemed to fix the problem for us.
  7. Thanks for the replies folks. I set up another user account and that worked fine. Trying the 2 other accounts again brought up the same error. Your offering SGreen679 set me to looking at the graphic settings and there it was the accounts that were playing up had somehow decided to pick up the Thinkpad profile for the screen rather than the Intel one. Changing it back again now has all users ok with the display.
  8. Bumpety bump - no one else ever run into this issue then?
  9. We have a 72" Smartboard in our hall running from a Unify35 projector linked to a notebook with the latest update of Smartboard software. This XP Pro notebook is patched up to date, is not on the school network has Internet connection and has three user accounts all with Admin permissions. All three accounts have until recently been able to run the Smartboard but this week two accounts have not been able to get the Smartboard to function - projector switches on ok and gives option to select device (Computer 1) but after selecting this a message comes up 'Make sure the device is connected properly or select another input message'. At this stage if I log off that account and log on my account everything works fine and dandy. Any ideas please:confused:
  10. Yep fan of the Red Dwarf T shirts as well. Had one on in the maternity unit 17 years ago when number 3 child arrived - caused a fair bit of amusement! Slogan on the T-Shirt read something like Something's Coming and Boy it smells Bad!!
  11. I'd say give Sophos Support a ring on 0844 767 4670. I have many a time and find them First Rate.
  12. Our school (Emotionally Disturbed Boys) runs a points system where behaviour of each student in every lesson is graded on a points / reward system. It's all currently worked out manually. Anyone by any chance got a database template on this sort of thing that they could share please? Our MIS is SIMS but only the Admin staff currently have access to this.
  13. I could easily be wrong - usually am! but I'm thinking Home Premium of Windows 7 isn't going to be of any use as it won't allow your kit to join a domain? Key Features of Windows 7
  14. Ah! Spoke to SWGfL and they didn't think it was an issue triggered by them - must have been though, couldn't have been anything other than a filter?
  15. That looks fantastic SimpleSi - congratulations.
  16. Whatever it was it looks like it was only me who experienced the problem and New Posts is working perfektly again now. Thanks for the input from the folk who responded.
  17. Could have been MK-2! Whatever it is it's still there and when I just ran a New Posts search 3 pages come up. number 1 and 3 accessible but still number 2 filtered.
  18. Trying to do a New posts search this morning brought Edugeek Filtered by SWGfL message. It was not till enough posts had been added to bring up a new first page of topics that I was able to view new posts. Page two of new posts continues to be filtered despite adding edugeek.net as a permitted site in rules? Whats been posted that the Grid doesn't like - Takling of Grid wasn't Spooks crud last night!!
  19. Looks a beaut PEO but please don't take the thread off topic!
  20. Looking around it further I see that Oakford Technology provide the Parent Portal Oakford seem to be making a lot of progress into school ICT nowadays.
  21. Further on this - Am I right in thinking that this site is Designed, Built and Managed by Quicksilva – if so, has anyone any idea what that would cost?
  22. Thanks trolley01 I should have been more specific in my original request! With much help from fellow Edugeekers I have built a Joomla site for one of my schools but await content imput from the SMT before making it live. On a further request for content recently HT at the school sent me a message asking if I had seen the new site of Springfields - looking at it sparked my curiosity as to what platform it was on , who built it etc as I havent seen one like it before.
  23. Thanks P-Dave - Umh problem for me straight away then as our Printers are run from a batch file. Not at that school till Thursday so when I get there I'll post up the file. In the meantime anythin I could do to prep myself for enabling in Group Policy in the now mixed XP and 7 environment?
  24. We currently have a Windows Server 2008 (Standard) with XP Pro Client set up. Replacement PC's with Windows 7 Pro OS are starting to be added to the network. What Windows 7 specific changes are likely to be needed to script ans Logon.bat files to keep things running smoothly?
