  1. One of my teacher workstations is having an issue logging on the teacher who uses it. Simply it hangs (looks like it's trying as the log on bar still has the active horizontal scroll running across it) on applying your settings. Pulling out the network cable and it pulls up her desktop as normal and reconnecting the network cable all usual network resourse is available. I disabled the profile and rebooted as her a few weeks ago this resolved the issue but today it's back again?
  2. Anyone involved with recycling with springgate.co.uk? I see their web site is a holding page currently. They sent our office a trawl mail - apparently this Marlborough Wiltshire based new company provides recycling bins for various like cartridges and mobile phones and give the school a kickback on quantities recycled.
  3. Yep that will be Cornwall - spoken as a native who emigrated to England unable to cope with the summer traffic!
  4. Got a Fujitsu Esprimo E3500 with Phoneix BIOS fails to boot with the following beeps: 4-2-3-3 Looking at Beep Codes it only gives sets of 3 beeps? How come mine is giving a sequence of 4? Whatever - suspect it's a motherboard any suggestions for suppliers please?
  5. Swindon it is then!
  6. From my days in politics I remember we had a great conference for circa 130 people at the Wessex Water HQ at Claverton Down in Bath. Another at the not so easy to get to Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre near Taunton
  7. The Training Space recently provided a DVD containing resource for Primary Curriculum re-design. Teachers tried to open the files on it and some (mix of Word and Excel) open as they should but others bring up an error MSWRD632 Tried the various fixes a Google brings up and still no joy. It looks to me as if the documents in question have been produced on a MAC and just given a .doc extension. I have been in touch with the originator by e-mail and await a response. Anyone else come across this issue - if so did you manage to solve it?
  8. Thanks sukh - yep - no problem there.
  9. Good point Pooley - mindful of the kids involved this might just be what happened.
  10. Thanks Sted, They have read access - it seems something specific to those new HP PCs we have - just can't figure out what! Had another odd MS Office issue recently too - teachers came back from a cluster training day with new Curriculum (Primary) data on a CD saved in a mix of Office 2003 and 2007 Word and Excel. Most the 2003 Word files refused to open of our 2007 software?
  11. Our athletics club has had a site set up and sponsored by one of our members using their Microsoft Live Account for about 6 years now. Recently the site vanished. Turns out some USA based company is demanding we cough up $180 for a 2 year use of the site name before we can get it back. It was a useful site and as administrator for the club I found having a live e-mail address out of it particularly useful as my Orange home e-mail address limits outgoing mail to 10 recipients at a time. I have now set up a new Windows live address in my own name so that will get me round that problem but it leaves me wondering where to go with a web site for the club. Due to the vast help I have had from many Edugeekers, particularly Sysman_MK and Steve Hill but many others as well I now have a fairly useful understanding of Joomla so I'm sort of toying with setting up a Joomla site using an Artisteer template. But how do I set about getting a site name and where best to host it?
  12. Haven't tried it but this one from Tesco sounds pretty good?
  13. Our teachers attended a cluster TD day yesterday and our ICT Coordinator tells me that they were told that the National Framework is to be discontinued likely from this April. This being mainstay (and huge) resource that Primary Teachers draw upon heavily for planning and teaching this seems completely illogical. I'm trying to find out if this is really happening or like the sale of the Forests is it something that will be wisely stopped before it happens?
  14. I don't think it's been posted here before but teachers complained our boys were accessing an unsavoury game called Happy wheels through yayoye so I have added it to our filter.
  15. I don't touch anything containing synthetic sweeteners - despite the claims by the food industry there is just too much anecdotal evidence (this for example) stacked against some of them for there not to be at least a cause for concern.
  16. Yep I'd love a walk-through as well as it's something I have not been doing either.
  17. Coer:happy: Not half!! Thanks SYSMAN_mk, that should do the job nicely. Thanks also to SDC for the PM, I won't need to take your kind offer up now.
  18. Export the Spiceworks file to Excel or Access.
  19. Our current logo attached - I want to use it for the web site but it could do with revising and tidying up. Any chance please?
  20. No. Not a regular user of SIMS. Any chance of posting up a guide please?
  21. Thanks Killer_Bot for your answer. I ran a report on Spiceworks and can see where my conflict is arising now. The folk who upgraded the switches put in managed switches and allocated them IP addresses which were at the time outside the scope. Since we extended the scope they are now included and from the Spiceworks report I can now see them - allocated to the switches and in the new extended scope also picked up by DHCP and allocated to PCs. What would be my best way round sorting it out - setting the IP addresses for the switches as Reservations perhaps then the computers will pick up fresh IP addresses next time they log on?
  22. I had the same problem and after receiving a walk through from Steve Hill I think my reply in this thread should give you the answer.
  23. As EdTech says it's Go to Extensions > Module Manager > Main Menu then it's a question of changing the Position in the Details box: mine says Position: TopMenu but on my test site it's position 3. It's a case of trying each one till the menu pops up where you want it.
  24. I don't think it's already been posted up here but Newstudyhall games is defo one to filter out.
  25. Ours is still working perfekt:D Seems to be a bit of an Admin problem with the system though; the supplier has just been on the phone to the office saying they needed access to install the meter - when it was pointed out to them that we already have one they wouldn't believe the lass and demanded we send a photo of it!
