Tried the download and through Cnet it actually installed but still refuses to run Flash content in IE8. Just installed Mozilla and Flash through it and that installed fine. But still no Flash through IE8.

Thanks for all the extremely useful replies folks. I have now tried all the suggestions (Fresh Installer and Fresh IE8 included) but still Adobe Flash refuses to run - so things like the page that allows selection of Express or otherwise on XP Updated fails to display as well. Looking further into this I have a feeling it's something to do with Pop Ups. I have set allow pop ups from Adobe and incidentally RM Easymail and added these to trusted sites but still these things won't run. Is it something in the Registry that needs a tweak?

Ten out of ten to LCWS for the second time - they came and collected a van load of redundant ICT kit from us yesterday. I have one XP Pro Samsung R509 laptop which refuses to run Windows Updates, Flash Player or Shockwave. Other downloads (Sliverlight, Adobe Reader etc run with no issues at all?

Yep - life is rough isn't it. Went to celebrate my redundancy! In reality my eldest daughter lives in Villefranche-sur-Mer; son in law works for a yacht management company and his office is in Monaco. Fine son in law arranged it all and even sorted out a boat ride to and from practice and the race. My first F1 - be a bit hard for ant future ones I'm lucky enough to get to to match up. It was seriously memorable.

I have noticed we have a few F1 afficinados amongst EduGeekers. I have been a follower on the small box for several years and at the weekend attended my first live race. The difference was incredible, it seemed to me that the cars are actually smaller than they look on TV but also the noise they make just does not come across on the box. Particularly Lotus Renault GP and Team Lotus cars pop and bang at low revs and to my untrained ear sound rough when you consider they have the same engine supplier (Renualt) as Red Bull which sound loud but sweetly tuned. Perhaps if the Lotus Renault GP and Team Lotus cars were tuned the same as the Red Bulls they would command higher grid positions?

I'm wondering was this ever resolved? If so what and how was edited - I notice my old school's site fails to run the RokSlideshow in IE9 and the latest Google Chrome. I would like the RokSlideshow to work on a local host copy of a new site I'm building.

A further update. The Installation was successful. I can access the backend and it is the right upload! However, the site still fails to display to the public or myself in preview. What simple step have I missed???

An update on this issue: I'm still having problems with notwww.schoolname.county.sch.uk - can't get the site to display! Using Akeeba Backup excellent PDF I found that I could save the site as a Zip FTP it up to my empty httpdocs folder then Akeeba picked up the install.php and ran like a dream. I copied the set up instructions for the config.php and pasted them in and FTPd that back up - Akeeba deleted the install folder but when I went to notwww.schoolname.county.sch.uk the site fails to display. Grr - total frustration - anyone able to suggest what the issue is please?

Dyson have their own service technicians. I don't know about now but about 5 years ago when our DC2 needed a few replacement parts (footplate, brushes etc) they turn out at excellent value. Replaced loads on the machine which would have cost us well over the price of the service if we had purchased them ourselves. they also replaced the cable because the old fitting was super-ceded for safety reasons.

Love some of the replies here - specially the hammer and pillar drill! Our free friend CCleaner has a wiper that seems pretty good - not tried it on a large capacity disk but it would probably suffice for the key removal the OP seeks.

Having failed in my attempt to get my localhost site to the webhost install with Akeebabackup I have now uploaded the whole EdugeekJoomla package again and ran the installer. All went well but again when I browse to the site I get a message Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data. No issue getting in the backend though. As a temporary measure I have renamed the index.php and put up an index.htm indicating the site in build status. I have a feeling I missed something vital in installation - vaguley remembering from previous installations that I needed to copy and paste something at some stage. Can't for the life of me remember what though? Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

When I was in a Primary School looking at replacing the SIMS server I found Capita extremely helpful. Their quote in the end actually came in at under what Dell were quoting direct! Before I was made redundant in that post recently Capita arranged for one of their top server installers to come in and look the system over - he then came up with recommendations for the way forward. I was embarrassed about having arranged the visit to find that shortly afterward other plans were already in train for the forward momentum of ICT. Worth talking to Capita would be my suggestion as they do have a spec they recommend.

Okeydokey - looks like no one else has encountered this issue then? I'm trying to work around it. What if started a new EdugeekJoomla install and copied bits of my localhost site into the upload. If that would work which folders would I need to copy across form my htdocs folder and to where? On the other hand would it be possible to upload the 1.5.23 package incorporating bits from the EduGeek package and my htdocs folder?

BMW lane now we are on to the types of cars that many of 'those' drivers who make regulation so necessary drive. BMW not too bad nowadays in my humble opinion but I do find that many who get behind the wheel of my once favourite Audi are gaining a very bad rep for the car with their selfish driving style.

I expect it much depends upon which platform your site is running on. Joomla has an excellent slideshow option.

Apologies to FN and also replying to your and Skrs question on profiles - nothing specific set up in AD everything seems to get picked up from a logon.bat. Feels like mandatory though.

I have built my EdugeekJoomla site on localhost and saved it using Akeeba backup. Cleared the old site from the database on Parallel Plesk hosted on SWGfL. Binary FTP'd the Akeeba backup and Kickstart to the httpdocs folder but can't get the kickstart.php to run - the screen is blank. Argh - where do I go from here?
