  1. All new to me - hence the thanks given. Which is the easiest - if that's not a neg rep question!!
  2. Fabulous! If you are making it available as a package I'd love one. Struggled but succeeded (with a lot of support - specially from Steve Hill) in the end with Joomla 1.5. Now redundant from that school but started another 1.5 at my other school and it's not sparkling. Playing with the latest Joomla as a test site but - it isn't coming naturally! So maybe it's time for me to think about switching to Wordpress.
  3. As we are all (hopefully) in the habit nowadays of shredding any discarded bank statements etc. and many of us rip off and destroy all address panels off any mail received it occurred to me that for some time the Royal Mail have added a double Barcode to the front of all mail. My suspicion is that this contains the address details electronically so I destroy that as well. Am I right?
  4. Another great looking site - someone put as heap of a load of work into that. m
  5. Crikey RM share price has dived 20% at 1400 hours today. Not a good sign is it.
  6. Great looking site. Well done you.
  7. I'm an IT Tech in an Emotionally Disturbed Boys school and one of the projects I have recently been given is setting up a in house server to run the minecraft game on. I'm thinking that to keep the costs down a Linux Server might be the way to go. New territory to me I've been Miscrosoft since I started the job some 8 years ago. Would a Linux Server bee a good way to go - if so can anyone recommend a suitable cheap server to put it on please. We do have the old Domain Server still in the school it still has 2003 Server on it but the components are a bit sleepy now.
  8. Love your Beta beeswax. How did you create the photo / video display - it's new to me and really looks great.
  9. We have a Richo Aficio GX e3350n printer that will not print multiple copies. User selects say 5 copies then presses print and only a single copy comes out. Nothing apparent in the settings?
  10. Strange one here. A teacher came to me today saying a couple of Word documents he prepared at home in 97 - 200-3 format will not open in Office 2010. Clicking them brings up a File Conversion box showing Windows Western European as default but clicking ok on that brings up a few lines of code on the 289KB document. Any suggestions please?
  11. That's my take on it to laserblazer Hamilton always seems to have an excuse. Be interesting to see what Paul Di Resta could do with Hamilton's car. Perhaps it's time for Hamilton to go back to the Go Carts! Mind, Schume didn't cover himself in glory today did he either.
  12. When I had the privilege of running a KS2 Computer Club I was lucky enough to have access to the Sherston Megadeal software with it's own range of superb ICT programmes such as Crystal Rainforest and Mission Control. I used to set half the club time for work on those programmes and showing them examples of better faster use of Microsoft Office packages along with things like keyboard shortcuts then gave them the option of some free time but limiting it to safe games from the excellent Friv4School range - Friv4School being a 250 web based games package selected by a former ICT Teacher who got fed up with his students trying to access non educational games so put together his superb site.
  13. Crikey - we have a heap of these. If anyone from the mighty HP is scanning this thread of our wonderful Forum come on folks please sort this one out as there seem to be a whole heap of unhappy HP customers out there in need of a decent 32 bit Windows 7 driver.
  14. Thanks LeMarchand but the problem is going through those links brings you to HP 's excuse for a link that no longer works!
  15. Been trying to find a driver for a HP Laserjet 3600 but so far to no avail - seems HP haven't produced one, or am I looking in the wrong places?
  16. We have CASPA running on the Curriculum Network and the new definition file comes in via an update. It's then a case of copying that def file into SIMS and running it (SIMS has to be shutdown and restarted part way through to ensure clean pick up of data0 the xml file is then usually dropped by SIMS to the last place it dropped a report. Then it's a case of copying the file to import to CASPA back on the Curric Net.
  17. New pupil import time for CASPA again - in the past 2 years it's run a treat but this year having imported the definition file into SIMS and doing the usual things to generate the xml file to import into our non SIMS network where CASP lives we can't find the xml file even though SIMS tells it had completed the task?
  18. Got a strange issue on my Outlook Account (OS Vista Business SP2 with MS Office 2010). Whenever I try sending messages to [email protected] (tried at least 3 known working addresses) the sent box tells me it went OK but the recipients never get the message through on their system. Any thoughts on what the issue might be - no problems with any other addresses just the hotmail.co.uk one?
  19. Excellent and I have passed details to many of my colleagues. Looks like it's been my privilege to give you your first thank you. Cracking first post.
  20. Got a Primary and a secondary level school in my Crescent - never seen any speed enforcement here in the 13 years I have lived here. Seen some clear cases of speeding and a heap of cases of idiotic driving - particularly people who should have their licences removed forever for being inconsiderate and dangerous gits by pavement parking (when dropping off or picking up little darlings) in such a way that if ever there was need for an ambulance or fire engine to get through then it would be a case of bif bash bang!
  21. Thanks HodgeHi. Yep it's a white case and I'd found the RAM holder laptop sized 512mb on board - so getting another stick of memory and trying that would be the next move perhaps? I can hear the fan going but trying all the above doesn't get it past the black screen so anything else is worth a try. It's not an old machine but is defo out of warranty. The art teacher is well switched on - knew all about PRAM and had tried that, the boot CD is in the drive but there doesn't seem to be a way of ejecting it.
  22. Thanks for the advice so far sadly not it's worked. The PRAM Reset resulted in a double clunk sound - bit like the sound of someone biting into an Apple! However, still a black screen afterwards. Any other suggestions please?
  23. Thanks for that. Should be able to work it out now!! It's out of warranty by some way.
  24. Thanks rbelson. Just tried that one - sadly no joy.
