Thanks mac_shinobi - looks like I didn't do my searches well enough.

We are having an issue with some of our Windows 7 64 bit laptops failing to pick up network drives on logon. Traced it (I think) to local profiles remaining on the machine after shutdown. Can I automate removal of the profiles on shutdown?

Further on this - I just removed the local profile of the student and logged him back on and the documents are now accessible. Odd or what?

We have eight identicalish Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Toshiba laptops. They are bang up to date with updates but recently 3 of them won't allow students to access their network saved work. Logging on as staff access is fine and the students can access their work on other workstations. Carried out gpupdate /force and everything else I can think of. Scratching a bald patch on my hed over this one. Is it something others have found if so did you solve it?

Recently I had an XP workstation go u/s with a hard disk fail. Replacing the HD I now have it set up with an activated Windows 7 (on EES) with Office 2010 also installed and activated along with basics like Java, Adobe reader and Flash and the domain default printer and joined the domain - I have not as yet activated AV from the Enterprise Consul nor installed Impero etc. Tomorrow I'd like to make an image of it so that future HD fail workstations I have an image to roll out. From my limited knowledge and research I believe that Windows 7 has everything built in that I'd need to do this but reading what i have Googled has left me confused. Can someone point me in the direction of a simple to use set of how to instructions please?

I had something similar running in a Primary School where I used to work. Being a fairly small number of computers and stable at that it ran pretty well.

Trying to bind an OS 10.7 machine to our AD over recent days and the flipping thing doesn't want to play. We have bound quite a few to date so are pretty used at to how to do it. The problem with this particular machine is I suspect something to do with it's name; we noticed that despite being called one name somewhere along the line it had decided that it was another machine that is already happily bound to the network. We have sort of successfully renamed it now and it appears to have accepted it's new name and indeed appears in DHCP as it's new name on our MS domain. However, try to bind it and it persistently thinks it's still the other machine. Grr! Any thoughts on this please?

One of our more Apple savvy staff thinks he can achieve the same result by adding the Mac server software to an existing OS 10.6 iMac. Is he right?
