Thanks Dan, Apart from the P & R keys I'm not sure which the keys you are on about are - our Keyboard doesn't have anything marked CMD or OPT?

The art teacher put her Apples away for the summer holidays and since return has plugged them back in. All but one are ok and that's an iMac which powers up but nothing happens on screen. I guess the first port of call would be the graphics card but have no idea how to open the machine. I'm a novice when it comes to opening an iMac so any advice would be extremely welcome.

I have now run the GP Side extension on 4 XP Clients which I have previously set in an OU that has printers applied specifically to it. Tried a forced GP Update but so far they continue failing to pick up the printers they should be getting.

We have a Server 2008 (Standard Edition) Domain with a mix of XP Pro and Windows 7 Clients. Currently our printer deployment is via a script file. I hope this isn't considered a too muppety question but is a script file the best way to deploy the printers in this environment? Reason for asking - the historical computer naming policy has been a bit of a crock so there are now a heap of names to add to the script file

We need to set a profile that applies to one specific student - anyone got a guide of how to go about it please? Need to set his internet access to a non working proxy - have tried it via GPO but that's not worked so reckon that doing it by profile might?

I don't reckon a cheap portable system is the best answer. A local Air Con installer of good reputation installed a smashing wall mounted Fujitsu Inverter system in our small server room this year and I believe it came to well under £2K. The beauty being it works a treat and will have regular maintenance so it's not going to give me Legionella

Thanks for the answers so far. It's the RPCS driver that's trying to install. Our system is 32 bit.

We have a Ricoh photocopier included amongst our printers listed as a default. Annoyingly on Windows 7 Clients the boot up from cold hangs until the driver install is allowed and despite a box being ticked to not display again it happens every time. Anyone else have a similar Windows 7 issue and if so have you managed to sort it?

Scary experience Tech_Guy. Some crazy gits about. On the other hand what I appreciate is a savy motorbike rider who acknowledges that the driver of the car in front has seen him / her in their rear view mirror - moved closer to the curb to allow them room to overtake then once past gives a wave of acknowledgement. Invariably these folk are wearing full leathers not the numpties who wear jeans and a leather jacket on the bike. I'm just back from a week in Wales and my experiences of drivers on roundabouts there left me wondering if many drivers had ever passed a driving test - indicating seemed to be an option not the rule!

Well said Gibbo. Mattx posts some superb stuff but this particular one was misjudged as far as I'm concerned. Whatever anyone thinks of David Cameron the man (and I think he has the potential to show real leadership and be one of the greatest) he is the elected Prime Minister of our Country and the office at least deserves respect. Parliament in general has become a shambles but at least they recognise they need to clean it all up and at last are trying to do so.

Thanks for the replies chaps and chapesses. The trouble being the 'staff' went on a training course for this BETEC and came back all fired up on the idea that Ipads are the way to go. What I was after from Forum members was hard facts I can go back to the SLT with justifying my gut feeling that IPads would not be best suited to the task.

Not sure what they actually need - hence seeking guidance from here. I did hear mention that the staff were on a course recently and budget of £5K for 20 bits of kit (netbooks?) was mentioned. We only need five though.
