  1. I was looking up how to create Hiren's on a USB drive and discovered excellent YouTube video by Britec - much easier than all the other tutorials I have found. Trying to teach grannies how to suck eggs for many on here I know but thought I'd share it anyhow I'm currently trying to sort out a 500GB HD from an Acer laptop that's reporting Code 128 in file 764 (recordable file record segment 19476 is not writeable) when I run chkdsk in an external caddy.
  2. Great to see you are on the case @Mic_Impero We have benefited from your superb support many a time in the past at my school. Good to see you are still in the Impero Team. Some of the original Impero Team seem to have sadly jumped ship when the going got tough? Hopefully someone is now working hard at damage limitation and ensuring the superb product regains it's former well deserved reputation.
  3. I just wish someone at Impero would get a proper grip and restore the reputation of the company to where it was before things started to fall off the wagon. For what it's worth I still have great faith in the product but feel it's an embarrassment that the reputation is being left to tarnish. It won't be long before someone comes in and steals their market of loyal followers.
  4. Thanks @Steve21 and @aarongulley for your replies. It's theiPad's built in Mail App - although the mail is showing in school my thinking is that the answer is probably down to SWGfL filtering blocking the e-mail accounts?
  5. Dell Servers indicate straight away when one is going to fail. Nice little blue window turns orange with a message. Taking the front bezel off shows the guilty drive again with an amber light instead of the usual green. Then there's the excellent Dell Open Manage that shows more detail. We have 4 hour response and using that have submitted a Dell Warranty case at 0830 hours in the morning with the disk supplied, fitted and rebuilt into the server by midday. Fantastic service.
  6. Come on Impero; you have a fantastic product but there are far too many people not happy with the upgrades or consistency of your support at present. For what it's worth I'm a totally happy customer and bless the day my school bought into the product. It's past high time you did some damage limitation though.
  7. In 2014 we switched from RM Easymail to O365. Ever since I frequently get feedback from staff that they don't like the way O365 places mail in threads - takes an age to find previous messages that they are looking for. Is there a way that this can be reverted?
  8. I don't think this has been posted already but this seems a strange thing for Microsoft to do: Microsoft accused of Windows 10 upgrade 'nasty trick' - BBC News
  9. Impero is a superb product - when it's working correctly. Why on earth aren't the Impero team getting to grips with this as there are just too many complaint on this Forum about the product?
  10. We are under SWGfL ISP and staff with iPads complain that through the iPad mail attachments refuse to open. Everything else seems to work fine. Any thoughts please?
  11. I highly recommend a chap called Matthew Bray who lives in Newbury he nowadays is bookable through www.mbsavit.co.uk
  12. With you there @cherd84 First class UK based support. Easy renewal at the best price. Above all - does the job a treat. Tried and binned AVG and Norton in the past. Former because of reasons stated by others here. Latter because it was always nagging about something - renewals from about 3 months out for starters!
  13. They could save money by revamping their news output on BBC 1 between 0600 and 0900 hours. The current Sofa format is cringworthy. I end up switching over to another channel if Minchin or Monchetty are in 'look at me mode' Carol Kirkwood is the only saving grace. As to the Travelling Sofa I just wonder what's that all about; their business slot with Adam Shaw used to be worth watching. As to the Sports coverage I'm baffled why they think we need beating over the head with it multiple times in an hour. The website on the other hand is fabulous and the spend on it has happened resulting in a very use-able and useful tool. Surely it's not going to save them more than a few quid keeping the recipe content live?
  14. Spanish Grand Prix 15 May 2016. Now that was a F1 race well worth watching; what a great change from the same old same old of recent races.
  15. Any update on this please?
  16. Yesterday Dell ran a Web Ex for us on their fairly new Rapid Recovery solution; it looked extremely user friendly and up to the job. There's a review here they are keen to set up a demo for us. Anyone on here got any experience of this?

  18. Yes please to a copy of your script.
  19. An extra special thank you to @Network_Boy Being a tad novice on Group Policy I sent him a PM and with great patience he has walked me through this. Registry entry now applied and working a treat. Happy bunny here.
  20. No way - you are just the business and many of us have benefited greatly from both your CV rewrites and general IT knowledge. We :kiss:love the @witch
  21. That would have been a good option but unfortunately our DC is a 32 bit Standard Edition Server 2008. Grr!
  22. I was trying to get a feel for the current thoughts on costs for printing in educational establishments. We are a small SEN school with 70 KS 3 /4 pupils and I'm told by the chap who supplies our Ricoh C5000 and C4500 copiers which are our network default printers that they run out at circa 4p a copy. On the other hand we have either Brother or Samsung Lasers in many of the classrooms and my guess is that those come in at a heap more per sheet. Added to that staff seem to be totally incapable of changing and ordering toner as well!
  23. Personally the only instances I have seen have helped the owner of the IT company massively enhance his and his family's lifestyle! As to the impact on the schools where in house IT has been lost the obvious downside is the loss of flexibility and a high chance they will be paying a lot more for possibly a much reduced service. On the other hand I guess there will be an upside in the fact that is very much dependant upon the quality of the team employed by the Company inasmuch as there's a fair chance they may well be more up to speed with current developments in this ever changing sphere.
  24. What continues to intrigue me is the in house IT support vs bought in IT support issue. In the 12 years I've been in schools IT support I've seen time and time again schools switch from In House to external providers only to be pulled up short when they realise that instead of getting pretty decent bang for buck they are now paying call out charges and that Admin, other Support and Teaching staff are actually having to carry out such mammoth procedures as changing toner cartridges on printers! Seriously though, external providers are motivated by making a profit (a pretty healthy profit it is from what I've seen) and that factor often seems to be overlooked when outsourcing happens.
  25. Could be down to the rain we had earlier today perhaps! BT Openreach are investigating - I'm hopeful that this time they don't send someone on a Bank Holiday Saturday requiring access to the internal kit and leaving a response card with no telephone number on it - I kid you not
