  1. I thought you could do that thanks. Did you activate it against your server 16 licence channel? Any Ideas about office 16?
  2. ive been working on getting windows 10 rolled out to my workstations and notebooks in my school. I have server 2012 with KMS installed and KMS_12 Channel licencing installed on KMS. Ive been trolling the internet for ages looking for information on getting Windows 10 to activate against my current KMS server and to get office16 to do the same. I have seen some articles on TechNet that seem to say its possible. I have been thinking that the way forward maybe to just scrap KMS and move to ADLS but I haven't seen any info on migrating KMS to ADLS and I also don't know what impact this may have on the Windows 7 Licencing and Office 2010 workstations as I'm phasing in Windows 10 and as such not every workstation/notebook will be windows 10. I have no issues with Windows 7 and office 2010 which activates fine. So my question is has anyone had any success with getting server 2012 to active windows 7 and Windows 10 and since its been 3 years since I messed with KMS how do I do the same with office 2016 Thanks in advance!
  3. I would agree, I am a NM in a school and I've already applied for a few positions in the private sector. My impression of governing bodys is that they get all their information via the Head so of course all the information they have is from the Heads perspective. My current head has employed the Chair of Governors in school as his business went bust. Anyways back to the topic, I'm thinking of taking a pay cut and getting a lower Job I.e 2nd Line support or service desk team leader just to get out of education. At least in the private sector i could take holidays in school time and save on the cost of holidays alone. (like i got a chance for a holiday in a school )
  4. Hi I'm reviewing backup at the moment due to the cost of getting all out data hosted externally and ive been looking at other solution and possible software's to do this. I have 2 physical hosts and with all the most important data on one physical host and the others. I have looked into RDX drive and LTO drives as a cheaper means of backing up data and I'm leaning towards having an LTO drive. I have looked into Veeam but it only does VM's and I'm aware of symantecs backup exec. I'm looking to backup in the region of 1.6TB uncompressed. Any suggestions? Thanks uffy2000
  5. I currently use Sadeo digital signage for 4 we have around but i its paid for so i would suggest you give Xibo a go. > Xibo Open Source Digital Signage | Open source multi-display managed digital signage
  6. SLT have already agreed to give students the notebooks but it is up to me to create the policy, then SLT will review and sign it off before we get the parents/carers to sign and agree to the policy. The school is a Special Ed school for students with social, behaviour and emotional issues and parents/carers have difficulties with enforcing restrictions. I agree that it isn't in my remit to ensure they don't stay on it all night but it is in my remit to ensure the notebooks are not used inappropriately or report that they are not being used appropriately. local policy does seem to be the best option to enforce some restrictions on the notebooks. Thanks!
  7. Hi Everyone I have been asked to give out 10 laptops to students for them to work from home to do homework etc. My question is how can we control what they are able to go on while at home? we obviously do not want them viewing inappropriate material or staying up until 1 o'clock playing games! We are creating a policy to go with this regarding damages, maintainance and outlineing what can and cannot be done on the notebooks but im curious as to how we can enforce these when they are at home and it would be good to have these questions answered before I go to SLT with these concerns. Thanks in advance!
  8. Have you installed the Client, Server and CMS section of it? there are guides below on how to install and then register clients Xibo Documentation
  9. Hi All! Most schools now have an a digital signage system within school on a computer and used on a tv or projector. We have something called SedaO and im not satisfied with it and its a bit clunky so im just wondering what others have used and found works. Thanks
  10. i have just added port forwarding for that port now. fingers crossed that this works. i will test from home.
  11. I have (finally) got sims working internally with rdweb and remoteapps on server 2012 datcenter but not externally. I can get onto the rdweb outside and click to open SIMS.net that I have published but its getting an error stating that the "remote desktop gateway server address is unreachable or incorrect" has anyone else had this issue and managed to sort it? Could this be something to do with the published app using internal DNS address? Thanks
  12. ahh right. havent pointed it to Pulsar.exe before. Thank you both for that info...ill take a crack at it and then i might be able to get some of the SLT of my back!.
  13. oops I was thinking of the KMS threshold for activation which is 5 before a KMS becomes active. have you tried slmgr.vbs /dlv to show details of activations?
  14. Its been a while since I did KMS so forgive me if I am wrong. I believe that you need another KMS Host.
