Oddly our issue doesn't currently affect student log on (thank goodness) but just the main staff. Office staff have a different logon. We have searched high and low to try and find where the wrong proxy setting is lurking but so far can't see any sign of it. Oddly despite the errant setting not commencing sslfilter it does seem to work.

We have an O365 account that's linked to an iPad. For some bizarre reason when I try to sign into the account on the O365 mail sign in it comes up and tells me that Your account is temporarily locked to prevent unauthorized use. Try again later, and if you still have trouble, contact your admin. Looking in the O365 Admin portal the account isn't blocked and I can see no way of unlocking it?

Would this work with a physical 2 Core server? I'm looking to have a back up regime that backs up to a Synology NAS; removable HDs and the Cloud.

New Server 2012 R2 physical box. On the old one we did have Backup Exec but as it's 7 years old now can't find the original software and I guess anyhow it's unlikely to be a lot of good with Server 2012. We will be backing up to a Synology in a remote cabinet and locally to removable Hard Drives; ideally we would love to be backing up to the Cloud as well. I was looking at the offer from Acronis.

We are having a problem with one of our Lenovo M92Z machines. If it's started by WOL or pressing the on button a message pops up saying the OS can't be found. Picture attached. Unplugging the lead and then sticking it live back in again and the flipping thing boots to Windows 7 fine.

We are currently in the process of migrating our 32 bit Server 2008 standard edition to a new Server running Server 2012 R2. We had hoped to be moving to Hosted SIMS which would have allowed us to build a fresh domain as the existing one has been migrated from the days of NT! Most things have gone well. However, we are encountering a very strange issue affecting just staff who are picking up a really old proxy setting. Even though we are now using the SWGfL SSLfilter this old proxy (which is clearly from another school and not having sslfilter) actually works. Unfortunately because of the way the old domain was set up it has several script files. Searches so far have been fruitless in discovering where we are picking the proxy setting up from. Any suggestions please?

We are installing a Synology RS214 NAS and I'm looking for recommendations on imaging software (ideally cost free) to carry out image backups. Unfortunately we aren't Virtual so unfortunately Veam isn't an option.

So with your sentiment @nicholab Attended an evening 'do' last week and conversation (i need hearing aids when there's a lot of background noise) was completely out of the question. I didn't have my hearing aids plugged in and goodness knows as to what I smiled and nodded agreement to! The music was great but as you say just too loud. I think the nail has been hit on the head here as well - the musicians performing have long since seen off their own hearing.

Seems to be a problem many of us are plagued with. I dream of a masterkey. Our staff are told to leave their classroom keys in secure staff room trays when they aren't at work but there are always a few who just can't oblige. Impero does the job for us but if the staff have turned the actual power off then you are stuffed anyhow. The other thing I have found is some client machines will only WOL if the BIOS is of a certain upgrade. Some Dell machines in particular.

Umh! 61 views and not one answer up till now. I guess many of us are in the same boat. Two years ago when we migrated from UnEasymail to O365 we did have a very useful staff training session from the superb Andy Radcliffe who did most of the migration for us but sadly it seemed to go right over the heads of our staff and even sadder still the company who had Andy as a staff member failed to retain his invaluable services. I send out reminders of the new features of O365 and was hopeful that our IT Lead would pick up on it and put together some training but sadly that's never happened either and obviously I as a lowly NM couldn't possibly impart anything on the subject! It really bugs me that O365 is stuffed full of really useful features and we seem to use it just for mail. Perhaps it's a niche training area that someone needs to hook into?

Perhaps a remote desktop server might be the way to go?

I remember when our O365 was set up a 'second' admin account was a prerequisite. Perhaps you have one on yours as well. Incidentally I have found the O365 Admin App on an iPad is a very useful tool for carrying out - well, Admin tasks.

Gray Redemption by Alan McDermott - it's number 3 of a series of 6 I picked up as a cheapie on Kindle. I can highly recommended the series so far as a very topical page turner in this terror charged climate of recent years. It's based around a former SAS guy but this third book brings in some of the authors mainstream work - which is an IT guy. So far Alan McDermott's plot has been gripping and unlike so many books doesn't loose the thread in a garbled few end pages. I'm loving it.

Now that Impero has released V 5.3.32 perhaps the time is right for a new thread. Clearly the team at Impero have been working very hard to correct the issues that this and it's predecessor thread raised. This week loyal Impero clients have been notified that next week there will be some massive changes happening with support and communication. I for one have great faith that they have taken heed and hopefully from the start of the new educational year will offer the robust product and support they used to be renowned for. Before the start of the new educational year we upgrade from Server 2008 to Server 2012 R2 and with that will be moving to the latest version of Impero.

Impero works a treat for us. With our Dells first had to update the BIOS on the clients though.

We had a somewhat similar but in reverse issue like this recently with some Lenovo clients. They were on odd occasions trying to boot from PXE. Resetting the boot options in the BIUOS seems to have sorted this. I was wondering if perhaps moving the PXE up to number 1 would help in your case?

A question my oh so wise friends of Edugeek. My 18 year old daughter is off to University (probably Swansea) in September. Any suggestions please on where might be best for her banking please? She currently has a young persons account and ISA with Barclays but they seem a bit take or leave it as to retaining her custom.

Persuade anyone to use it. That's a good one @sted! I've advertised the, what are to me, fabulous features of O365 many a time in my school and not had the slightest glimmer of enthusiasm to engage and explore. They certainly prefer it to the Easymail it replaced but the newer staff often moan 'why can't I have Outlook; like I had at my old school'. Makes you wonder doesn't it!

I'm probably missing your point here but can't they just receive a copy as an e-mail attachment?

What a pity they couldn't just build and issue a SP2 for this well loved product!
