We recently changed our DC from 2008 to 2012 and as the old DC was still live gave the newbie a fresh static IP address reservation. We have a Remote Desktop Server on the Domain that's 2008 R2 and most things are working as planned. One thing that isn't is one user who logs onto the RDS is getting a profile that's trying to pick up the desktop from the Old DC. we don't want to run Delprof2 as the other users don't have an issue. Is there a recommended way of running Delprof2 so it removes just that specific user. We tried renaming the profile in local users but logging that staff member on then brings up a perfect graphical desktop for him but a message saying that it's only a local temporary profile and that from there he won't actually be able to access or save work?

If you are behind a Proxy you might need to temporarily un-tick it.

We have at least two Smartboards where during video playback annoyingly play the sound / hardware plugged in ding / ding. Any suggestions on resolving this please? One board is circa 2 / 3 year old and another is top side of 8 years old both running licensed Smartboard software.

Running a HP Proliant ML350e running Server 2008 R2 and it suffered a BSOD in June and so far twice this month with a critical error 41 which resulted in what seems to have been an unexpected restart post BSOD. The MS link takes me to expletive laden https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/080b178d-5633-4bd1-8746-b442fcdc3851.aspx Any suggestions on a resolution would be welcome as MS don't seem to be offering an answer. The Server is still under warranty. My first thoughts are perhaps a BIOS update is needed or some other HP related hardware firmware update is needed.

My reply isn't going to be a heap of help to you Steve but we have suffered the same or similar ever since IE11 was rolled out . Thankfully it seems to be something here that only affects Staff users and we have a .Reg file that the Staff user can click on that populates the correct settings. Please feel free to PM me if you want a copy of that file. Historically our Domain has been migrated from NT, Windows Server 2003, 2008 and now to 2012. We are proxied through SWGFL's SSL filter and Sometimes staff are picking up a very old proxy setting pointing toward a school that the original IT Support Company the school used back in the turn of the century!

Um! Looks like another great step forward by this team. Pricing might be the killer for them though; the new Malware killer iteration from Sophos Intercept X looks likely to be the big winner in this arena; especially as the likes of SWGfL have managed to hook into a decent pricing offer with them.

All in house here apart from the fact I'd be all at sea many a time if it weren't for Edugeek Additionally I do have call on a superb Apple expert based in Weston Super Mare for that added extra support on our small fleet of Macs and also a Windows expert who used to be a school's IT Tech but set himself up as a consultant now based in Swindon. Both highly recommended by myself.

If you have a licensed Adobe Suite you will have Acrobat built in that and opening a PDF with Acrobat gives the option of saving it as a Word document. An add thougt a few hits on the Thank You button to those who have responded would be appreciated.

I just wish MS would do something about the update situation - my daughter's W10 laptop took about 3 hours last evening when it unexpectedly decided to apply the latest update for her. Makes me so glad I've not pushed out W10 on our Domain at work.

Hi @itgeek Impero have gone through a rough patch over the past year or so but are now, in my opinion, back at the top of the game. Their support is top notch. I wouldn't be without Impero nowadays. Their current version specifically includes safeguarding. As to price, we are approaching the final year of a three year contract so I haven't a clue what they charge now but I'd guess in the now competitive market they are going to be competitive.

They did ring me and mention it but I haven't heard anything since?

A question I'd like to read comments on as well. It sounds like the way to go but as with @ChrisS I'd like to read feedback from anyone who has taken the plunge.

Iv'e been with SWGfL for the past 12 years and apart from the one notable issue involving web hosting over that snowy winter have found they tick all the boxes still for me. Prompt response and action from Support. Their Filtering is refined for schools. Over the summer they even gave us a FTTC upgrade which now gives us 56.39 Mbps Upload and 18.9 Mbps download. Crazily getting that upgrade gave us a new Router and saved something like £500 on our annual bill.

I've posted this in the General Forum as there doesn't seem to be a Forum dedicated to praise of outstanding quality support. Plenty of brickbats in various threads where things haven't gone as expected and a smattering of praise in various threads as well. ADMINS / MODs please move if you think appropriate. We recently migrated from Server 2008 Standard Edition to Server 2012 R2 on a new server - big sigh of relief from many on her after reading the saga of the Server 2008 box from me over the years I reckon:rolleyes: Anyhow; migration of the Sophos Enterprise Console didn't go exactly to plan and we were for a while hung with Endpoints that refused to update. Last week a certain Harvey Grace of Sophos took ownership of the support case and has resolved it for us. Working with Harvey was an absolute treat and learning experience. Support service at it's very best. A big thank you to Sophos and particularly Harvey Grace.

Holy Island by former Lawyer turned author L J Ross first book in her series of detective D I Ryan novels. Superb and this one based on Lindisfarne which is a place I've always wanted to, but so far never visited it's fabulous. Makes my thirst to visit the Holy Isle even greater.

I'm sorry to read this but I have to say I'm so glad we stayed with SWGfL - I've been with them in schools now for 12 years and apart from the odd glitch (one over the start of the new post Christmas Holiday in particular remains a prominent memory!) have been delighted with the service and support they give.

If that's what @witch says then I'll endorse that 100% the lady is ace.
