Sad for the workforce. Misco used to be an excellent supplier but when our account manager jumped ship we followed him.

Hopefully Microsoft are working on this and will be rolling out an update that corrects the situation. Strange that it only hits some clients and that thankfully so far it seems a simple restart clears the issue?

Thanks are duly given for the suggestion ShellfishClive. Yes, we do have scripts running but oddly the occurrence of this incident seems to be entirely related to the workstations it impacts upon. My suspicion was an MS update was rogue but other clients at the same update stage aren't affected. It is only happening to around 6 of our client workstations which are, Dell, Fujitsu and Lenovo. Consistently if when it happens either we remote restart or the user forces a restart it's then a clean logon.

I just stumbled upon this very useful thread - it offers an explanation on a couple of units we have one being SMART the other a Hitachi. By far my favourite make of projector is NEC.

Senso will be hard to beat as far as I'm concerned when it includes WOL; which I'm told will be part of the package - soon.

I was talking to a chap on an evening recently who was charging his new Nissan Leaf on a Council provided charging point in the free overnight car park which just happened to be about 10 yards away from the apartment he lived in. He was telling me that the charge easily covered his daily work journey, he had the car on a lease scheme and it was actually saving him money over what he was paying when he owned and ran a diesel vehicle. He was lucky, I guess, living where he did with access to that charging point but also having a commute that was a reasonable all round journey. Food for thought though isn't it?

Spot on folks. I've had a response from the CEO of BT already who confirmed that they ar obliged to delver it to UK households. Mindful of the fact it's a colossal environmental hit send waste I've gone back to him asking if they are challenging the legislation I've also raised the issue with my MP.

BT's 'The Phone Book' was on our doormat this morning. It got me thinking does anyone actually use the conventional phone book anymore? We certainly don't and haven't in decades. This still pretty expensively looking product gets consigned to recycling nowadays toot sweet.

That was a spine-tinglingly fabulous interview with Nigel Mansell CBE by Lee McKenzie this morning. A fabulously well-informed performance by Lee and an awesome run through of a great career by Nigel - why on earth wasn't he awarded a Knighthood. In my humble opinion, many athletes have been for less bang for bucks.

@caffrey that's a comment well worthy of a thank you as you must have a magic formula at work there with teaching staff who actually treat the kit with respect and switch it off when it's not in use. Getting most of my lot to turn off during breaks and lunch seems to be an impossibility and I've even come in the next day and found the occasional projector on and still projecting. I know it's been covered here before but just over the past 10 days a few PC's have been coming up with a black screen when the users first log on. Doing a restart then logging on again and all is okay. I thought I'd got to the bottom of the issue and resolved it by carrying out the very latest updates but on a few PCs the problem still persists? Any suggestions, please?

Thanks for the replies - might as well close this one now. With the planned demise of the humble cheque in Oct 2018 - I believe, I think this sort of thing is increasingly likely to become a problem. In this particular instance, I can see from what the chap has shown me that he set the Standing Order up via telephone banking and as there is no indication of end bank sort code or account on but just the reference he used I guess an all-important digit was transposed and the money landed in someone else's account and has been un-noticed or just accepted as a bonus.

Anyone know how you trace where a BACS payment has actually been paid to? I'm treasurer of an organisation and a dear chap tells me he made a total of three payments one last September and two this month to an account I administer and indeed his bank statements show three payments made using the name of the account as reference but none of them has actually surfaced in the account I'm holding? The Reference name is pretty distinctive so I'd have thought if he got his digits scrambled a tad the holder of the receiving bank account would have noticed? My Googling for an answer has been fruitless.

We recently pushed out an OS Sierra image to our small number of Macs from our Mini Mac Server. How I wish we hadn't as the Macs have been an absolute pain ever since. Heaps of intermittent issues happening at random. Slow log on for some students. Keynote working for some but not others, not picking up the default printer setting being the main problems. On re-logon - PowerPoint presentations that had been saved not visible or taking an age to reopen. Anyone else experiencing similar issues and if so have you found ways to sort them, please?

Not wishing to hijack this useful thread but I feel very much linked to the OP. We have various versions of Smart software, which came with the various boards in use. Management are keen to have all boards running on the same version. Is there any advantage in doing this and I guess there would be a cost if we upgraded?

With Ransomware and the likes being a constant worry we upgraded Sophos EC to their Cloud variant with Intercept X etc. So far, we are absolutely delighted with it and going, by the way, the Sophos share price has almost doubled in the past six months many, many more people are as well.

My son in law's employer has an id badge printing system on the reception. I enquired if it was any good and establishing they rated it highly asked what it was. It's a Magicard Rio pro. It looks like a really nice bit of kit.

As a former competitive cyclist I just love watching the likes of the Tour de France and Le Vulta on The Television. ITV 4s coverage of the two I mention has always been absolutely fabulous and I just love the commentary around the race the presenters give where they even cover the history of the various features passed as the tour goes by. It's also excellent to see that the racing by females has started getting a decent bit of cover nowadays as well - that said, I must say I found the commentary was far from the quality of that of the men's races. Now moving on to the current Tour of Britain I wonder if I'm alone in finding the commentary appalling? One chap in particular just draws out his words and I find it so immensely irritating that I just can't watch the race with the sound on! His commentary when it comes to a sprint for a stage win is more like that given in a horse race than a cycle race. Am I alone amongst cycling fans in feeling this way?

I spoke to an ice cream van driver about this very issue in a park at Headington on a bright sunny day a few weeks ago and nope, it's not the double glazing but it's the supermarkets selling loss leader ice creams in boxes that are the same price or cheaper than a single item from the vans.
