  1. Personally for me even pre covid unless I had a solid backing of customers there and ready to once I started up I wouldn't do it unless money wasn't a massive concern. There are too many companies out there all willing to undercut and many of the I think make the rest of us professionals look silly when we go in with a proper valid price for works i.e. you quote for time, materials etc say comes in at £15k then you get someone that comes in at £5k but using materials not suitable for the job. I'd much prefer to work for someone you know you are getting a solid wage every month regardless and put your skills to use there. From a techie point of view a one person band has its risks compared to say a company unless you are a specialist consultant or what you are supplying is a specialist skill i.e. wifi specialist, specialise in specific software or hardware where support is limited as such. Just my views but, everyone might not agree but that's how I see things. By the way a year ago I did jump ship although it was all in place several months before covid hit, for me everything worked out for the better in all honestly.
  2. 3CX state that a SBC must be used if using the hosted platform, weather that makes any difference I cannot say as never used that. What sort of internet connection speed wise do you have? Are the phones on their own VLAN? I quite like 3CX and have used in small environments although not with many calls. I would be checking connection, check that the ports the devices need to access to enable things to work are allowed through your firewall and go from there.
  3. With the 3CX hosted do you have a SBC on site or not?

    Commute Time Map

Tried my location in and its fairly accurate from days when I was travelling all over the UK, a couple of discrepancies but on the whole not bad. Put in a few know areas where its surprising how long it does take people to get from A to B and its echoed what is real.
  5. You will be able to send without a MX record in theory (or always used to be) but have you checked your one is correct as that will affect receiving. Be worth checking it using the tool on MXToolbox.
  6. I've actually got my VM in modem only mode and use PFsense box, got a new router to swap to at some point to see if it improves, power levels are all ok. Someone mentioned about tweaking the MTU settings not sure if that's over the top though?
  7. I have a host account from Dreamhost which I've had for years, I personally don't have a site but do host a friends simple 2 or 3 page site. Year ago I ran my own home server on a ADSL connection as it was back then but I have no need these days for much and Dreamhost does the job for me.
  8. Question for those end users with Virgin Media using DA or AoVPN anything having huge slow down issues and latency until the VM router is rebooted?
  9. Create a rule in the firewall to allow access out to internet from specific IP address and bypass that in the proxy or supply a PC and do the same if they don't need anything specific on the laptop other than say PowerPoint etc.
  10. Cheers for that.
  11. Just going back to this, worked for that I need but now need to grab the external IP which works with: (Invoke-RestMethod http://ip-api.com/json/).isp Gives ISP (Invoke-RestMethod http://ip-api.com/json/).query Gives IP address Just cannot see to get the both i.e. isp.IPaddress Any thoughts.
  12. The other thing with 3CX is there is a Windows client or even web browser so really anyone with a headset can use it.
  13. Were in process of decommissioning our Aruba stuff, its getting on a bit but cost wise its pricey which the licensing side of things, Unifi does everything we need it to, think we must be close to 500 AP's now on it once the last 100 come off Aruba.
  14. Yeah when installing the client after imaging it takes for ever, disconnect it from the network in the office or VPN if at home and it flies at installing.
  15. Does anyone use an update cache server on their network for Sophos to reduce your outgoing internet traffic? We have recently implemented one to reduce traffic hitting our internet connection but have an issue when physically installing the Sophos on a device it takes forever yet disabled the network on the device it flies through install and reenable and it updates. Just wondered if anyone else had any issues with the cache? Were on the verge of binning it off but want to reduce some of what goes out over the internet in places.
  16. Not necessarily depends on the ISP. Could be carrier grade NAT in use same ISP but same external IP, similar if wireless provider provides internet not always have their own IP, could be using the same proxy just to name a few.
  17. If you have it on your phone and your a NHS Mail admin 2FA will be enabled, you need to disable that, re-add the account and then re-enable 2FA and it will be fine.
  18. You say there is no link between sites, both have internet connections why not just create a VPN between the two of them?
  19. Interesting that, all NHS Mail admin meetings and information we've been sent says that nothing needs changing from the NHS.net ones, I think the majority of our application mailboxes used for purposes like that have all been migrated with no issues.
  20. Have you got any mail flows that stop students from receiving mail, does staff member need to be in a group i.e. Staff to apply policy for them to be allowed or something similar? Look at another user to compare what groups they are member of.
  21. That is what I thought, I've tried various combinations with different IP's in and let the DNS etc refresh, I will see where I get with this latest one. The only reason I stick with this host is its cheap and not necessarily the best but with only a few sites with a few pages on it works in my benefit.
  22. The IPv6 came from MXToolbox. Where did you find the information about the SPF for Dreamhost as I am struggling to get anywhere?
  23. Apologies if this thread is in the wrong section but following this thread it seemed right to put it in here. So I now have my DMARC, SPF and DKIM records all set and working properly but I now have an issue. On one domain I have a website with a contact us page and I think my combination of things is causing mail from that to go into junk mail. Background is mail is with O365 and website is hosted on Dreamhost. My DMARC record is: v=DMARC1; p=reject; rua=mailto:[email protected]; ruf=mailto:[email protected]; fo=1; adkim=s; aspf=s; My SPF record is: v=spf1 ip4:66.33.200.130 include:netblocks.dreamhost.com include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all I have added in the IP4 and netblocks for the website. My records are all valid according to the checker on Dmarcian.com website. Running the message headers through the tool on MX Toolbox I get errors. It see's my DMARC as all ok, the error them comes at spf:newberg.dreamhost.com:2603:10a6:401:2f::15, it says there is a SPF record published then no SPF record found. I think my issues lies at Dreamhost side of things but not 100% sure. Anyone any suggestions, or even better anyone else host with Dreamhost (highly doubt it) or can point me to a domain to check that SPF record config.
  24. I have an issue with my AoVPN if my internet drops I have to physically disable my WiFi on my laptop leave a minute then reenable before the VPN will reconnect.
