Been a while since I setup a Chromebook. Is that Chromebook actually being managed, have you already logged in on it and assigned a management licence?

Hi, The head at my school is moving to a new school. He was sent some files in an email from his new school, but he gets an error (see below) when he tries to open the files. The thing is, he already does have a 365 account. we are a Google school but he does use his 365 account from time to time, mainly for Teams, but also to receive files from our LA. The error is asking me to turn on self-service, but I seem to remember needing this restriction in place when I originally set it all up. Do I need to go back to the school that is sharing the documents and ask them to send them in a different way?
-
We had the same issue but the other way round. We are a Google school but the LA send us stuff that they say needs a 365 account. Worked out we could login using our Google account to 365, so wasn't a big issue.

Got a few test staff using it. SIMS, smart notebook / educational apps all seem fine.

How is your host machine network adapter configured?
TwistedHelixis replied to Sonic007's topic in Windows Server 2016
On my servers adapter settings NIC 1 has fixed IP, subnet, gateway, DNS addresses NIC 2 (Virtual_switch) doesn't have IP4 or 6 ticked in adapter settings, it just has LLDP & Hyper-V switch ticked. -

I have a very similar setup to you. Host is not domain joined, no vlan, no nic teaming etc. I can check the settings on my server tomorrow for you and post back if you want. -
[ms office - o365] Random issues with Shared Computer Activation!
TwistedHelixis replied to kennysarmy's topic in Office Software
Sorry to jump in, just a quick question. One of my schools has pupils logging into the laptops as a year group and they don't use 365. I have been told to get the Open Value Subscription Education version of Office (with a perpetual license), as this supports shared pupil access. Is this correct? -
Can we have a sticky "Patch Tuesday Updates" thread?
TwistedHelixis replied to Jaan's topic in Windows
For me, when it comes to renewing a server at about 5 years, I keep the old server for these types of things. One of my schools now has a few older server, with one being over 10 years old and their other just over 5 years. -
[ms office - 2019] Deploying Office 2019
TwistedHelixis replied to Koldov's topic in Office Software
Sorry to jump in, am I right in thinking that 365 office doesn't support shared devices? We still have some schools that use Year3 as a login for all year 3 pupils. -
Hi, We need to add just one 'teaching and learning' license to our Google Workspace Educational system, so a teacher can record via Google Meet. I contacted a reseller, but they have asked us to transfer our entire Google Workspace for Education licences to them. Is this correct? I have just noticed, I could have probably purchased the license via the Google Admin console directly, should I have done this?

Should Mosyle auto update apps on the iPads?
TwistedHelixis replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
Sorry, but can you explain what this is / means. -
I have just had one user say that when they try to open Gmail on their iPad, it says they need to update the app. There is an update button but it's greyed out. I haven't ever had an issue like this on them before and it is just one user (so far). Is there a way to push out app updates from Mosyle? Or should the apps auto update and this is just a glitch? Thanks EDIT - I have just found an 'update all apps' button in Mosyle, in the devices section. Not sure if this will fix the issue but have pressed it.

All the pupils in KS2 have a Chromebook, there are 2 classes per year group. In each class there are about 4 Chromebooks that cant access the Bug Club login page. They get the following error, Access Denied You don't have permission to access http://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk on this server. Bug Club / Active Learn will not offer any help as Chromebooks are not on their recommended hardware list. All the Chromebooks have the same settings deployed from Google Workspace, and all other pupils can access the page. Any ideas?

Brilliant thanks. One last question, after they have transferred, is it possible to see where they have transferred to using SQL management studio? I assume they end up in the SIMS or FMS database somewhere.
-
Should I do similar for FMS? Once the users have been transferred, will they stay transferred, or do I need to run this frequently?
-
Sorry, just realised that using the word 'instance' in my last 2 posts might have been confusing...... After running through both uninstall options, the SQL 2012 database is still listed in the drop down menu in SQL management studio. After doing the FULL uninstall SQL 2012 is not listed anymore in 'Add remove programs', so not sure why its still listed in management studio.
