To answer this for myself...... I should also be able to make them supervised by preparing them. The reason I didn't think this was an option was due to the fact AC2 has always errored saying 'they need to be supervised first', but just realised this is not the normal AC2 behaviour, and it should be possible to use the prepare option. So my next question, should I just wipe AC2 and start again. I will create a new post later and ask to keep things tidy What do you click on to wipe them clean? is it Actions > Advanced > erase all content and settings? or something else?

I have been having lots of issues with our iPads. Someone else setup AC2 yonks ago and its a total mess, plus normally I use Apple School manager with an MDM and don't really know AC2 very well. Anyway, to start clearing up the mess I thought I would create a new profile and blueprint. I created the new blueprint, but can't for the life of me see anywhere there is an option to make this blueprint supervised. There is already the older supervised blueprint, can there be only one supervised blueprint in AC2

Hi, Just had a message to say the iPads are all of a sudden displaying the following message - connection is not private Currently not at the school, but I am 99% sure the LA smoothwall certificate has been applied to the profile that is applied to the iPads. Is there anywhere else I need to set this? Anything else that might be causing this issue?

Google Drive - Very odd file behaviour.
TwistedHelixis replied to TwistedHelixis's topic in Cloud Services
There is more to this than shared files or using the same accounts or drive. The support person went over all of these options first. The files do seem to be shared with me from the user, but he couldn't workout how they would end up in my computers list, or where they are in the users Drive. The files also are more than just orphaned, they don't even get listed in the admin Google Drive audit report. The only place he can see these files is on the activity window when clicking on the computer name. Why they are getting listed under my own computer backup section is so far a mystery. The support person mentioned at the end, do not delete the old computer as these files might very well delete from the teachers drives (if they are there) also. EDITED -

Contacted Google support who have said they will need to go away and investigate this very odd issue -
Last year I had File Stream (now Google drive for Desktop) installed onto my school file server. This just synced a few key folders from the server to my Google Drive. About 6 months ago I installed a new server, Installed Google drive for Desktop and synced some folders. I checked in Google Drive (online) that both computers were listed under computers, then I turned off the old server, and have not turned it on since. I was just doing some tidying and noticed the old server still listed in Google drive / computers. When I clicked on the old computer I was shocked to see in the right hand activity window it is still getting files synced to it. The really odd thing is, they are not files from my account but a couple of our teachers accounts. How is it possible that my own Google Drive backup seems to be getting other peoples files? If I click on one of the files listed in the activity window, it takes me to that file, but it does not list where that file is located. If I do a search in my Google drive for one of the files, it lists the files but when I click on one, it also opens the file, but doesn't tell me where that file is stored. I have just done a full search on the new server and none of those files are found on the server itself, so those files must be coming from the teachers own Goggle accounts somehow. I would like to delete the old server from my Google drive but not while it's still seems to be getting files synced with it. EDIT. Those new files only get listed in activity when clicking on the computer name, not if I click on any of the folders such as pupils or multimedia.

Looks like January windows updates are causing all sorts of issues..
TwistedHelixis replied to Jcx500's topic in Windows
Both DCs were up and running when they posted. Although I have read a few posts where the original updates were fine for a few days, only to start boot looping. -

In regards to 2012r2 DC... 2 people on Reddit post have manually applied the new update in different ways. First, simply ticked all updates including the new optional update and clicked update. Apparently the reboot took almost an hour and they were about to power cycle when it completed. Next user, tried to just install the option update, but first attempt it said it wasn't needed, then later it did apply, after reboot they ticked all other updates and installed. Tbh, I might just bounce this month and see if they release a cumulative update with the patch in February. -

I don't use WSUS anymore and simply run the updates when I am ready. For my 2012r2 DC that uses the built in Windows update, would it use the update Catalogue to fetch its updates from, or do I need to manually download / install this? -

So I now know why they are not applying the Mosyle migration profile, it's now displaying an error at the end that the iPad is not supervised. Before I clicked on 'Prepare' in AC the iPad was listed as supervised. I can see during the process that the iPad gets wiped, it tries to apply my Mosyle bits and then fails. So I am new to this.... The only way I can see to make an iPad supervised is to apply a supervised blue print, problem is that I am not asked for a blue print when I hit 'Prepare', only a profile. Any ideas???

I did check at the time, think it was on 12 or something like that. Why is it not possible to simple move the iPads from one Apple system to another Apple system without needing a third party system involved? I will have another go at some point. Is there literally no way of getting the iPads into ASM without AC. Would be much simpler to just wipe the devices and enrol them in ASM.
