We don't have Clevertouch, but for our Smartboard files..... Windows laptops have the Google Drive Desktop app installed, which gives them the G Drive and can run any file type, so CleverTouch files should work. For our Chromebooks, the Smartbaord's have a cast system built in, so the pupils can cast what's on their screens to the boards, but we don't have anything that can open SmartNotebook files on the Chromebooks.

I do something similar, but to an unwanted server set up as an iSCSI target, then a rotation of USB drives for cold storage. Been doing it like this for many years, and the only cost is the USB drives.

Currently have all the iPads auto enrol into limbo profile in Mosyle (Enrollment > auto enrolment). This is the only policy in enrolment. The limbo profile has passcode / pin number disabled, as we don't need pin numbers on the pupils iPads. From the devices page (Management > Devices) I can move the iPads into either the Pupils cart profile or Teachers profile. I have created a Passcode policy and applied that to the teachers policy. I can see the password policy is also applied to the teachers iPad in Devices, but I am not asked to create a PIN number on the device itself. Any ideas?

I did manage to sort this one out. I re enabled the old users account in our Google admin system, then used that account on the tablet to log in. Luckily I had suspended the account and not deleted it, or it would have been a lot more complicated.

Just worked it out. I needed to assign it to a user in Management > Devices

Mosyle was setup by their support (one time free setup help). They created a shared tablets cart area, setup a pupil profile and setup auto enrolment into the cart. I now have some teacher iPads in ASM and these have auto enrolled into the pupils cart. How do I move these iPads out from the cart so they get a teachers profile? What I have done so far...... Under management > profiles > I have created a teachers profile restriction Under enrolment > auto enrol > I deleted the auto enrol to pupil cart and created an auto enrol to Limbo When I click on My School > Locations > view profiles > it lists both the pupil & my new teacher profile Restrictions. When I go into Management > Devices > and click on the iPad then click profiles, only the pupil profile is listed. Any ideas?

We now have 4 Chromebooks that will not turn on. They all have a white LED on the side that is is lit, but hitting the power button does nothing. If I plug them in on the charger the white light turns amber, so they are charging. Any ideas?

Managed to workout is was a teacher that had left in the summer. Luckily I suspend accounts for a year before deleting them.

OH :-( Wonder if I can find out who was logged into from its serial number via Google admin site. I'll go take a look.

I was handed one of the schools Android tablets that had somehow been reset by someone. Normally I just enter Wi-Fi then enter an account for whoever I will be handing it to, but this time after entering the Wi-Fi it wants the account of the previous user, but nobody seems to know who had this tablet. Any ideas how I can get this thing setup?

This is basically how I have it setup using restricted groups, but wanted to see if it was possible to get away from that approach, for 2 reasons. 1, Under the computer policy I need to make sure every computer 'User x' might ever want to sit at has a policy applied, which is messy, rather than just having 'User x' in an OU with the Local Users and Groups policy applied. 2. An issue I have noticed with restricted groups set at the computer level is, 'user x' logs in at a computer they have never logged into before, but 'user x' is not made a local admin until the next time they reboot. Perhaps I am getting confused, but don't believe I want to configure the 'computers' local admins anyway. On each computer we have disabled the main built-in administrator account, but do create a new one as default, lets call it setup_admin. I don't want to do anything with these accounts. All I need is 'user x', who is in AD to get added to the admin group on her PC. Does this have to be set using the computers policy, or can I use the users policy?

What I want to do is assign some staff that are in AD as local admin users on any computer they log into.

Hi, I am in the process of moving away from restricted groups policy to Local Users & Groups for controlling local admin accounts. I have noticed that users & groups is listed under both computer and users policies. Our restricted groups policy was set under the computers policies, but think I would prefer our new users & groups policy set under the users polices branch. The instructions I am following only have it setup under the computers polices, but don't explain why. - Computer Configuration –> Preferences –> Control Panel Settings –> Local Users and Groups; Can a few of you who use this policy check if you have this setup under computers or users.

no problem at all, and our issue might also turn out to be similar to your issue. So, just found out what the actually issue is. Back in December when a pupil was off sick a Google doc was created with a couple of unwanted words. The pupil said they didn't create the document. Options are.... Someone else has their password Someone else opened the lid on the pupils Chromebook (we are 1-2-1) and it was already logged in, although I think I have it set to 'logout on lid close' - will double check. The pupil did create this file while at home. I have looked at the doc in audit and the IP listed is for SKY broadband, so it does look like it was created from a home system. Looking at the time it was created it was just after school started, which eliminates anyone in school that day. If I had to guess, the pupil probably created the doc while at home.

No, I am still waiting to findout what actually happened, so in the meantime I am getting all my options together ready. It's my belief that they will not need to lock the account down, but if I am instructed to do this, this is what I will do.

Ill have to do a hunt for that feature as I have never seen it. Also, they don't take the chromebooks home with them, so this pupil would no longer be able to do any homework etc.

Just had the following email from a primary school and would like options...

Spent the entire day looking through the setup. Some iPads were in AC2, some had just been setup like home devices. Looks like someone else had tried to move the devices to another system at some point. All the iPads had multiple profiles assigned, some were really old with out of date wifi, proxy and cert settings. Anyway, cleaned things up, gave it another go at migrating to ASM via Mosyle and it worked.

Turns out the iPads can have multiple profiles assigned to them at the same time from AC2. Some of the profiles were really old and had out of date wifi / proxy / cert settings.

Just read an article, someone is creating a class action lawsuit to hit Google with about this.

One of the primary schools I work in has a long thin classroom, they have a hdmi going from their laptop to a Smart TV, then a hdmi from the Smart TV to a projector, it works really well. Obviously would be better to have 2 TVs, but they don't have the money.
