  1. Primary school has decided to get all the teachers an iPad. I have just verified our domain in Apple School Manager, so have a blank canvas to start off with. I will also be using Mosyle as the MDM. The school has been using Google Workspace for about 6 years. I noticed a section in ASM that lets it use the accounts in Google Workspace as the Apple account ID, so thought I would see how that works. Stuck at the first click. When I click 'Sign in with Google' I get the following error. Apparently it should just ask me for my account details. When I search online I don't find anything specific to my issue. Any ideas? As its only 16 devices, is it worth the hassle of setting up federated login?
  2. Getting an error at the first stage of setting up the federated link. Ill create a new post.
  3. So I am going to look at setting up ASM federated authentication with Google, has anyone already done this?
  4. The school uses Google classroom for all of its teaching and will probably be used heavily on the staff iPads, along with a bunch of other well used apps / websites. The reason they got tablets and not pcs is so they can also, if needed take photos
  5. EDIT They will probably not be using Apple Classroom. All the pupils have Chromebooks and use Google Classroom, the iPad's are mainly for taking photos of the work and will probably have Google Classroom installed.
  6. Hi, We are a 2 form primary school and I am just about to setup 16 new iPads for our teachers. Mosyle has suggested I don't bother setting up the staff accounts in Apple School Manager, but only in Mosyle. Just wanted to run this past all of you first and see if this was the best way to set them up, or would you suggest creating individual staff accounts in ASM, or both ASM & Mosyle? TBH, not sure what the difference would be or why I have the option.
  7. That's great :-). We use Google. This seems to be their equivalent page. https://support.google.com/a/answer/176600?product_name=UnuFlow&hl=en&visit_id=638040490547897039-3814213799&rd=1&src=supportwidget0&hl=en#zippy=%2Cuse-the-gmail-smtp-server I'll have another play at some point.
  8. Been having some issues setting up 'scan to email' on a copier. When I hit scan to email, then type in an email address and hit go, nothing happens. I did notice a POP protocol error message display for like a micro second, but that is all. Would it need POP. I thought POP was used to download emails to an email client.
  9. UPDATE: Just been told by the LA that the forwarder IP's are being (have been) decommissioned and I need to use 8.8.8.8. Not sure why the old server didn't report any issues when I ran DCDIAG but ha ho.
  10. Yes, the NICS primary / secondary IPs are the new & old DC IPs. The IP listed in the DCOM error is only entered in DNS > Domain > Properties > Forwarders Not sure but I know from reading other posts that it is common for DCDIAG to give this DCOM error if Google's 8.8.8.8 DNS has been entered as a forwarder. If there is something off with DNS on the new server I haven't got a clue where to start as all the settings look the same for both servers.] Ill go back through DNS tomorrow, just in case I have missed something. Yes two domain controllers. Old DC NIC DNS Primary = looback Secondary = New DC New NIC DNS Primary = Old DC Secondary = loopback The reason I have not set the old DC NIC to point at the new server for its primary, and its secondary as loopback yet, is I normally want a clean DCDIAG before switching those around. Also in this case the DCDIAG error is from the new server, which is using the old DC as its primary, so just assumed (could be wrong) that that was not the issue.
  11. Yep, ill check it after 24 hours. I'm staying very calm this time :-)
  12. not getting anywhere with Google. most of the posts are about using 8.8.8.8 as a forwarder on a DC, which is not the issue for me.
  13. New promoted 2019 DC, getting the following error from dcdiag
  14. Only error seems to be at the time I did the promotion, everything listed since seems OK.
  15. Hello, I have just setup and promoted a new Server 2019 DC, which will replace our old 2012R2 DC. When I run dcdiag on the new DC I am getting the following error, Is this one of those errors that will probably vanish after 24 hours, as replication and SYSVOL have just been created and will have an error from being setup? Any advice?
  16. A friends school was told by their insurance that this does not class as offline.
  17. Just to add, you can install Cubebackup on more than one system but only need one license. I have Cubebackup installed on our data server and this uses Wasabi to store the data, Wasabi is only £6 per TB. I also install Cubebackup onto a local machine with a USB drive which backups the main staff shared drives.
  18. If you want simple drag n drop type of thing then Google sites :-)
  19. The database size is probably not be the issue, its not normal to have that in the SIMS drive, that will be somewhere else. I would right click > properties on each of the main folders in the SIMS folder and see which one is taking up all that space.
  20. Was going to fill out the form on softcat, but they have a marketing box that you have no choice but to tick before you can submit the sales form. I really don't like being forced to sign up for junk mail, just for a quote. Ill check out Amazon Business
  21. After playing with one 6 pro from another school, I will be putting in 1 of the 6 Pro discs into each room, with both the 2.4 and 5ghz turned down to low, but with the 5ghz set as the first hit for clients. Just wish they were in stock. Thanks for all the help and pointers, its been very handy.
  22. Thanks everyone. I have requested quotes from all of these. Best experiance so far has been jisaw24 and CBC Computers, although KRCS has all the prices in a list, so you know there is no hidden markup going on, they are also cheaper then my original quote.
  23. Just had a quote for some iPads back from a company that I am happy with, but the school need a few different quotes. Any recommendations. Thanks
  24. I have always gone with one of the Fractal cases, they normally have dust grills that can be removed / cleaned and are really well built. https://www.google.com/search?q=fractal+case&rlz=1C1ONGR_enGB1026GB1026&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjIgo_y9Y37AhXRyaQKHY-qDrkQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=2560&bih=1289&dpr=1 Never had a NZXT, so cant comment on that.
  25. I need buy some UniFi access points, but its a little confusing which would be best. The school currently have a mix of the old AP and AP pros, but they are very very old and much newer better versions are now out. I need them for 8 classrooms. There are 4 ground floor rooms in a line and the other 4 rooms are sat directly above. There are stairs in the middle of the building which splits the building in half, so 4 rooms on one side (upper and lower) and 4 on the other. Hope that makes sense. If you take one of the sides, I have 1 access point in the lower left class and one in the upper right, the other side has the same. All pupils have their own Chromebooks and the old access points are really struggling. Today one of the teachers said that only half his class could access the videos he was sharing. Each class has about 30 Chromebooks and the teachers laptop that needs to connect. I was thinking of getting UniFi6 Pro, but notice they also do a few others like the Access Point AC Pro This is a link to their website. https://eu.store.ui.com/collections/unifi-network-wireless Hopefully someone could take a look that better understands the differences and could post back what you would suggest we purchase. Also, does my AP layout seem OK?
