I play rugby which is on Saturdays and train twice a week for. Although injuries this season have caused me to play much less than i would have liked this season. Also coach our under 16 team twice a week which is very fun and rewarding having been coaching them for the last 3/4 years. Apart from that I play squash, just took up golf (I am awful!), pub with friends and try to watch as many films as possible most recent being Jupiter Ascending. Also get addicted to TV series rather quickly and loose some of my life to things like Breaking Bad which i watched the majority of over a couple of weekends.

I have done 4 Courses with NEOS and been very happy with the content and the training on all of them and would highly recommend!

Hi, i play rugby, I joined my club having never played before. It's a great sport and the social side of things are great aswell, i truly believe i have made some friends for life. Dependent on club they may have a lower team for newcomers that would help develop your skills and help you learn the game. The only thing i can suggest is get yourself to your local club and watch some training and games and ask about getting involved.

Thanks for replies so far, @jamesreedersmith i will look into that. I should have mentioned that we are looking to go AC so that we are future proofing. I know older Aruba systems may not have this available but as a company and what the kit is like i am very interested to hear about it. Cheers

Afternoon folks, currently looking at replacing the wireless in 2, 2 form primary schools, we have just had a company out and give us some information about Aruba both myself and my colleague were very impressed with what they had to say and how the system works. I just wondered if there are any schools that use Aruba for their wireless and would love to hear some thoughts about it. Good, bad anything would help to make an informed decision. We are meeting with Xirrus in a couple of weeks to see what they have to say. Have also met with and use Meru so have them to consider aswell. May also be able to sort out a site visit if anyone near Birmingham area is willing to have us to pick your brains about the system. Cheers Andy

@Brimstone what app do you use for the Visitor Signing in and out? All the ones i have looked at seem rather expensive!

Done several of these myself, hair dryer and decent tools and was done in around 20 mins. I use one of these to remove the screens - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-71288-Soft-Grip-Chisel-Knife/dp/B00023T9U2/ref=sr_1_30?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1416324530&sr=1-30&keywords=scraper+knife as it gets under the screen and removes the old glue, just need to be careful where the ribbon cables are. Easy enough to do though.

I have had a batch of them at one of my schools which we are currently building. Have also used around 10 for other schools for staff laptops and seem fine. Only had one of them come back since they have been put into circulation and that was for a cracked screen and the teacher wouldn't admit to a) doing it b) how it could have happened. Replaced the screen and now fine. Speedy machines with standard HD so popping and SSD into them would make them good machines.

I have used the hit it on the back method before with 3 different iPads and it worked on all of them...although one of them i had to hit surprisingly hard :-S

@CPLTD thanks! Yes it has been a good move, took some adjusting and getting used to with the travelling and being at different sites each day. I have learned alot as there are different systems in place but all in all a very good move even after 8 years working for the previous school.

I did a February half term transfer from a IT Technician in a secondary school to a IT Support Officer role supporting 4 primary schools. Seems so long ago now though.

Spoke to rising stars about this @GrumbleDook... they said that UNC is not supported and that the software has to be run from a mapped drive. I'm not entirely sure of the conversation as it was my colleague that was handling the case but I know he changed the shortcuts to run from mapped drive and it is now working fine.

I do my own, have done 5 now and got it down to about 15 minutes. Use a hair dryer and chisel knife. Get the screens from Charter Office Suppliers.

Will have to check this when i get to my other school as we have just brought 3 of these and built them with 8.1...we are also looking at having 32 of them at another site. Thanks for the heads up.

Have used projectors in wood work before and was fine. Bit more dust collected on filters than normal class but once cleaned it was fine. Also used computer and projector in cookery class. That one as said earlier was truly a pita. The filters would clog up with all sorts and eventually would have to replace. Think they were on their 2nd machine when i left and the room was only 3 years old.

I am in a similar boat, i have had a Meru salesman come out and also a retailer that supplies it, i have to say i was very impressed with the whole setup and how it works. I am just awaiting a price for it now though. As for Ruckus i look after a school that has that and never had a problem with it and also my old school had a big deployment for site wireless and it never really caused many problems. There were a couple of rooms/areas with black spots but apart from that pretty robust. Would be interesting to see what everyone else has to say about it.

I have used and deployed airserver in the past. From the testing stage it worked well and once installed after purchase was fine. We set it so that the software didn't auto run when the computer started and that staff had to run a shortcut to the software to stop it from constantly broadcasting from 40+ machines. I left the school that this was setup in shortly after it went live so I'm not sure how much it is used or how well it is running recently but from intial tests and the couple of weeks it was running before I left it looked ok.

I use the following on my xibo install - HowTo It just sits in my htdocs folder on the server, populate the images folder within that and in xibo layout use embed website. Does it all for you, you can even share the image store folder for staff to add new photos.

one of my schools has 6 of these, although they have Win 7 on them they are terribly slow. Not sure if someone upgraded them as it was before my time. It took nearly 15 mins for one of them to cold boot and login the other day when i was testing them. Just thought i would give you a little warning about them.
