  1. I have used Clevertouch which haven't had a problem with also Promethean have reduced pricing their new ones if you use Activ software.
  2. I have just looked through my Fog server setup and can't find anything relating to the timing on the client. This made me think that it is to do with the config.ini on the client machine. After a quick google and some poking around in the Fog Wiki I found this - Snapin Client This module periodically checks in with the FOG server to see is the client has an snapin set to be deployed to it. If a snapin is found AND no imaging task is associated with the client, then the client will download the snapin and install it in the background. The configuration file contains settings for this module including: checkintime=xxx where xxx is the number of seconds the service will wait between check-ins. It is important to note that currently the fog client will wait 5 minutes when first connected / established before it starts checking and installing any snapins from the server. From - https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Managing_FOG#The_FOG_Client_Service Hope that helps. As for the Green Fog I have no idea as I haven't got a client to hand to look at for you. I think the log file you are showing is just that the client is looking for jobs and there is nothing there for it so it just replicates every 5 mins.
  3. Not at work at the moment to check but I think it's in the Fog Client Setttings possibly or in advanced settings in the Fog dashboard, I will check when I'm in work tomorrow and get back to you but I'm sure someone may post before then. Hope you get it sorted.
  4. Hi I run xibo in 3 schools all with similar layout (Academic Trust) I have different content on each box so that it has it's own feel per school. I've attached what I have. I use LSS to slide show images in the big black box, plus I have the occasional video, scroll bar at the bottom which is welcome message and also what clubs are running and when. Bottom right is a place holder for school, trust and twitter logos. Box above that is a scrolling images with each house's house point scores plus a leader board which I update weekly as haven't had the time to work out an automated way yet.
  5. I have had issues with pushing the MSI out through GPO, to get it successfully installed and working I deployed it via vbs script. Seems to work much better. I also deployed the javasettings.cfg file as it helped with the installation if the file was not present.
  6. Oh wow...i know what im going to be doing over feb half term.
  7. Have you added the changes to your DNS for the iPads to hit the Mac instead of going off the to the internet to look for Apple?
  8. Most recently it has been upgrading the backbone of the network to make it more stable and to improve the speed across the network along with updating to a new wireless system. New image for all machines that got rid of alot of old software that wasn't used and generally making things quicker for the end user so they don't have to sit and wait 15 minutes for a class of laptops to login. Currently our networks are running smoother than ever and allows us to plan for future projects and do preventative work, while we maybe on the back burner for now i think the work leading up to this has shown what we can do. Often little chats with our IT Coordinator about things lets them know what we are and planning to do aswell as anything that they want from their point of view.
  9. We use - http://www.charterofficeequipment.co.uk they are very good on pricing and seem to be able to get hold of things others can't. Can't praise them enough.
  10. I would go down the route of offline files for the home drive, this way it will sync when in school so always upto date, can be added to the domain so the network drives and printers are available in school but not at home. This generally the route we use in my schools as stops them having two different logins. Add the proxy changer software to the desktop for them to turn proxy on and off, believe it is available on here somewhere.
  11. Good xmas pressie for the car loving tech enthusiast.
  12. I have had the same issue with one of mine at a school that i support. Contacted Genee about it...they wanted to take it in for diagnostics but couldn't/wouldn't quote how much it would be for a fix or shipping. It is still sat in the server room at the school because of this.
  13. Exactly my thoughts on this aswell when I seen it the other day, could have been worse, could have been better.
  14. i will be on my work laptop just so i can get used to it before its eventual deployment although we only have 8.1 in one room at the moment.
  15. Had a similar issue the other day with a Toshiba laptop, think it was a L450 where it could see the WiFi and let you add the key but then wouldn't connect. Ended up updating the driver for the device as it was 3 years old. Might be worth a try?
  16. Watched Jurassic World at the weekend and thought it was awesome, really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.
  17. these look great, very interested in whats to come, subscribed :-)
  18. We have class laptops that connect to the IWB's which will shortly be being changed to desktops as have had alot of issues with damaged ports and cables over the last 12/18 months and they are starting to show their age. As for staff, they all have their own laptop which is use for PPA and taking home, whilst some never see the light of day the others that use them regularly are fine. Ours are set up with as a normal domain computer but have offline files available so they can use them out of school with no issues and no local access so we still have control of whats on them.
  19. We have local for staff with redirected folders for desktop, startmenu and documents. Students have mandatory profiles that seem to work quite well for our needs.
  20. Not for me either. I have just searched and it was fine. Maybe something nasty installed on your computer? as @Steve21 said
  21. Have a look through this - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MountWindowsSharesPermanently It was what i used the last time that i did this.
  22. At work I use Chrome mainly, IE occasionally for bits and pieces. At home I use Safari as my main browser on Mac but do have Chrome installed in case I save a favorite in Chrome that i want to read at home.
  23. We use either IDNS or KRCS and both are very competitive on pricing for iPad Airs. You will be surprised what you can get them for. I would also try and get a newer mac if you can as will make life a little easier. We use a mac mini and got one for less that £500.
  24. Hi, I have seen this problem before. It maybe something that is stuck in the profile? I was going to say that it might be an idea to force delete drive maps through gpo. so you would have fresh drive maps at every logon. As far as i am aware the drive maps happen at logon, although i may be wrong. My drive maps currently consist of a delete all then remap. Hope that helps? Might be worth setting up a couple of test machines and users and see how it effects them? Andy
