  1. Annoyingly my boss has full signal on his android. Having checked the o2 community forums seems I'm not the only one, and is all over the country. Wonder whats happened now???
  2. Had no signal on my iPhone 4s since about 1130 this morning. Anyone else having issues?
  3. We have recently done this. Not sure how much it is used by our IT department yet as they are doing the theory parts I think. We used a base Windows XP image with nothing installed. Just the latest updates available at the time. Like you we have set the machines to local only. We installed all of the software the IT Dept wanted and used Virtual Box to create a virtual environment for the students to create and test programming code and exes. During testing it seemed like the best way to do this with minimal impact on the network and chaning of policies to accomadate what needed to be done. The only thing I wanted out of this was to be able to load up the virtual envionment without the students having access to the Virtual Box console. To do this i found you could create a shortcut that would load up just the machine. Done this using the following when you create shortcut - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle\VirtualBox\VBoxManage.exe" startvm Programming Just thought this may be useful for you.
  4. Wouldn't have thought so (but could be wrong), but could insert the default install path and try it on a test machine to see if it resolves it.
  5. Ok, just wondered. Is there anything in the event log to suggest why it won't work? Might be worth a shot to see if it will install and work correctly from a script. I have on occasion had MSI's that seem to install but don't work. Once installed through .bat or .vbs works fine. Just a thought.
  6. Are you deploying the MSI via Software Installs in GPO? or are you installing it via a script deployed via GPO?
  7. @morganw I will check this today. Been busy and haven't had chance to investigate this more. As a quick workaround we have currently disabled the service on the clients and after speaking to our ISP it seems that the issue is resolved but I want the serivce running and will look to fully resolve this. I will let you know of any outcome.
  8. Getting a 404 - page not found on your link.
  9. Missed it too. Damn!
  10. You can bypass the upgrade running everytime by just using the shortcut to the SIMS application. This can be done by running pulsar.exe from {windows dir}\program files\SIMS\SIMS .net Note if you do this then it will not look for an update and if the server has been updated then SIMS will not run. You need to be sure that all clients are on the latest version for this to work.
  11. We have done further testing on this. During our testing we put in a false proxy for IE and for winhttp. After doing this we found that the fog client service still communicates with the fog server. Does anyone know how this might work. Im getting confused now :-(
  12. Thanks will have a look at this and let you know of any outcome.
  13. Thanks for your reply. I will look at adding an exception into IE. And no the proxy is in school managed by the lea.
  14. Afternoon all, We have been using FOG to deploy our images and all is great with that. We have just been told by our internet provider (BGFL) that our fog server is constantly sending data to the proxy server. The proxy server has had over 500,000 hits witin a couple of days. Aparently we are the second school in the list with such a high number from FOG so it seems others are affected. After stripping out all of the proxy info on the server a couple of weeks ago we have been told that there are still around the same amount of hits going to the proxy from/because of the fog server. It seems after some testing that it is the client service that is causing this. It seems that the client is sending data to the proxy server which is then being redirected back into our network to the fog server. What i want to know is, is there any proxy bypass information that i need to add to the client to stop it looking for the fog server through the internet and just going directly to the server. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Andrew
  15. Seen similar sorts of reviews here too. For £25 they are steep for what they are. Sure you could get much better for similar sort of price range. But like OP I am interested to see what people actually say about them and not just reviewers.
  16. Well thats not helpful lol. Our houses change when they get to sixth form, but the user names stay the same and after 5 years of using them they shouldn't be easy to forget, at least we hope so anyway!
  17. We use year of entry + house initial + last 4 digits of admission number (for students)
  18. Is this on all the machines?
  19. We had similar problem to this with our printer drivers not deploying becuase they needed admin level authentication to install. We found that this helped us - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/22950-solution-map-printers-logon-scripts-windows-7-vista-without-uac-prompt.html
  20. ...absolutely nothing...
  21. We have a podium setup in our main hall for making the dropdown screen interactive, it is a great peice of kit, very accurate and works well with the smartboard software. Never had a problem with ours just plugs into the PC via usb and is used as a display.
  22. Ours is a stylus 1400 with ink resovoir and hose assembly. Ours has been repaired twice through an epson partner. It cost us around £20 for new ink cartridge and hose assembly and £65ish for a service from epson. I wouldnt personally have another and have already told our DT department that if it happens again we should consider different printer as i have read alot of problems about this model on the internet.
  23. We have an epson printer for this and agree with @plexer. Ours was turned off for a few weeks and had nothing but trouble with it and in the end it went back to epson to have a part changed on it.
  24. We get stopped in the corridor but i will always tell them to email me becuase 9 times out of 10 i will forget, some of the staff know this well though now.
