  1. I have been thinking about this recently too, although with no degree under my belt i need to do that first. Will be looking at doing some sort of part time degree when i have finished building images and have a bit of spare time available.
  2. yes pls to tips ;-)
  3. Brilliant!!
  4. I also find it easier to work when i have music on and sometimes helps me concentrate more as i can block everything out if i need to. Plus it cuts out the drone of computer fans that are constantly on in our office. We have an office radio on with the local station tuned in, but when i get bored of the presenters constantly talking i like to stick my headphones on and listen to my own music. Usually with just one headphone in though so i can listen to anything that might be going on in the office.
  5. We have had some problems with laptops and wireless before, a fix to get around this was to setup a gpo on said computers and use the "Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon" this would make sure that the wireless in the laptops case to be connected before the logon screen was available. Seemed to help us out as it wouldn't allow students to login without connectivity. May be worth a shot.
  6. I'm pretty sure that you can just rename the extension of the .vob files in the ts_video folder to .mpeg as thats all they are i think. Im sure the AV Tech here did it for a DVD of a some school dance competion. Then you could just drop it into a shared folder and create a shortcut to it? Not sure how well it works but will ask him to confirm it when he's back in the office.
  7. I agree that you loose some of the functionality when doing this. It was just that we had been in the same situation here and this worked around the issue. You can either use it to help for now until you find a full fix and would be interested on how you did it. Failing that just setup a script to remove calibri font or tell users to not use it.
  8. We had this problem with a couple of brother printers after we went to Office 2010. After lots of searching the internet I gave up and contacted Brother. This is their fix and it worked on my printers so it may on yours. Just substitute the brother bits for you printer. Hope this helps.
  9. We have always had workstations in classrooms since i have been here (6yrs) and think that this has always been the same. Although when the LfT was around staff had laptops that they could use in and out of school, but for the purpose of registration each room has at least one computer in.
  10. In this situation if its not a majorly used key and we really don't want to pay a full price for keyboard then 9 times out of 10 the laptop is just put back into circulation. Then something is published to say that if someone who is found guilty of vandalism will be charged the price of a new keyboard and subject to school consequence system, usually detentions and the like. Although when we did this we had alot of pupils reporting broken keys on laptops, which enabled us to get them all repaired and since then been alot better, we only get the odd one now instead of 15/20 per term
  11. If funds and space allow for it I would personally go for a larger screen size than 32". Found that these sometimes are a bit on the small size for displaying info on. We have 42" LG plasma TVs for our digital signage. Think they where provided by - Dolphin Media Dolphin Media Audio Visual Specialists Birmingham, London Had no problems with our displays and theres plenty of room on them to display information.
  12. Just finished walking dead season 2 and have to say really enjoyed that. Currently Watching - Big Bang Theory True Blood (when i remember its on) Family Guy American Dad Think i may have to look into Grimm and Alcatraz as they both look good. I really enjoyed this and wouldn't be surprised either.
  13. You say the computer has onboard graphics, try putting a pci graphics card in it.
  14. @tigerstar beat me to it.
  15. We do it here currently. This was decided so that staff and students could get used to 2010, 2003 is being removed this summer and only 2010 installed. I have found that you have problems if you open for instance Word 2003 and then 2010 afterwards, it wants to do the mini setup/configuration. I fixed this with a regedit in the mandatory profile. Also found that we got loads of errors if Access 2010 and 2003 are installed on the same system. In the end we just removed Access 2003 as it was causing too many head aches. If you want/need/interested in the registry edit to stop the mini configuration let me know and i will send it over.

@browolf I did exactly the same here. Think fog is a great peice of software and just sits there until I need to do something, then just schedule the lot to image and job done, practically zero touch for computers. Laptops have to have some bits done but nothing major. I was very pleased with it compared to when we used Ghost.
  17. You need to create an answer file for things like serial numbers if not using KMS for use after the machine has imaged. You also need to use the Fogprep.exe file in Windows 7 to be able to create a working image in fog. There are alot of guides and helpful posts on here and also plenty of info on the fogproject website
  18. We get our staff to turn them off when they aren't needed and definately over lunch, I have been known to go into classrooms to turn them off if I notice it over lunch.
  19. I've had a couple of these calls myself, 9 out of 10 times i just put the phone down now and then I will tell them i don't own a computer. Just depends on what type of mood im in.
  20. Exactly what I have done on my printers that were effected. Just checked and came back on here to say that. I have told a couple of people to not use it but people still do so I ended up leaving the advanced features off. Least you got it working
  21. Will have a look at the print server when I have 5 mins and let you know if I did anything else that might be helpful. Potentially some tweaks to the driver to get it working. I've been asleep since I had this problem and can't remember what else I may have done.
  22. I have had this problem but with only a couple of brother printers we have. They decided that they would miss random letters throughout the document. After some testing and alot of fiddling around I noticed that it was only happening with the font Calibri in Office 2010. All others seemed to work fine. Downloaded the latest version of the driver and all was fine after that. Just a thought. Hope it helps you out.
  23. We have two of these in school - HP Color LaserJet CM2320nf Multifunction Printer (CC436A) Very good printers and are laser too. Never had a problem with them, good quality prints and can scan to computer or do quick copy.
