  1. Hi All, I wondered if you could help me. We are currently reviewing our E-Safety policies at school and looking at ideas to inform the students differently. We have come up with the idea of creating different wallpapers for our computer systems that change daily. I just wondered if you have any designs that are available for download or if you know of anywhere we could get some as I am struggling for them at the moment and I am currently lacking in creativity as its Monday. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. This would all be aimed at primary school by the way. Thanks in advance. Andy
  2. Build a windows 8 machine, virtual or physical, install RSAT on it and do the policy from that machine. Should allow you to do settings for IE 10 +
  3. When i seen the thread i thought Speed 2...Was slightly disappointed at the lack of...well anything happening...
  4. Just wanted to say that this worked a treat, done it this morning when I was back on site and all working fine now. Thanks for the help!
  5. Thanks @Bananas, i will try that when I'm next at the school, couldn't get it down Tuesday as the class room was in use all day.
  6. Afternoon all, Having a problem with a projector that maybe one of you could help with. We have an Acer PD523PD that currently works for around 10 minutes then the image disappears. First thought when it was reported was that it was over heating, but on inspection and watching what happens this doesn't appear to be the case. The projector works fine then the screen will go blank. When looking at the projector the lamp turns off, but the buttons seem to function i.e. you can turn it off properly by clicking the power button twice. Any ideas on what this could be? Thanks in advance Andrew
  7. Have used a CTouch and it is very good and sturdy, very much liked by the staff that used it aswell. Not sure on the cost though, sorry.
  8. What happened to rule 1?!?!? I thought we wasn't supposed to tell anyone??
  9. For the 360 it is possible to buy a VGA cable, I used to use one on my first 360. Possibly pick one up from game? - Buy GAMEware Xbox 360 VGA Cable | Free UK Delivery | GAME
  10. We have done things similar to this in the past. We have used Skype to do one to one things with another school in Spain, for this we just used laptops with built in WebCams. We also had a session with a company who hosted a space expedition day where by the students were given tasks to complete from a VC session. For this we used a Polycom system in one class and the polycom software and a decent webcam. Both have worked quite well but depends on what you want to be able to do.
  11. Afternoon all, I am currently about to have a break down and likely throw something as this is infuriating me. We have just received some new laptops that need to be imaged and deployed into the school. No problem I think I will deploy an existing image to them and should be sorted in no time. FOG has been working fine as far as I know, worked in the summer when every computer was reimaged and it has been used to reimaged the odd machine here and there since then. Now come to today......image deployed to the first 10 machines fine....noticed that they didn't join the domain. Started testing what was happening...Can ping the FOG server by name and IP address, checked the config file which has FQDN, checked the username and password in FOG for domain authentication all fine. Machines had correct name just not joined to the domain. Done some more digging and found that the account used to add machines to the domain has had the password reset, no problem I will just recompile the HostNameChange.dll, re-encrypt the password and change the file and settings on the server. Now the FOG server isn't changing the host name on the machines. Is there anything that I have missed? Is there anything that I can use to check what's causing it from stopping it working? I am at a complete loss of what to do now other than to find a script to add the machines to the domain and bash that into my unattend.xml and reimage said machines. Here is an extract from the fog.log - it tells me it can't connect but the machines will ping the server fine. 08/01/2014 14:12 FOG::HostnameChanger Attempting to connect to fog server... 08/01/2014 14:12 FOG::HostnameChanger Failed to connect to fog server! 08/01/2014 14:12 FOG::HostnameChanger The remote server returned an error: (502) Bad Gateway. 08/01/2014 14:12 FOG::HostnameChanger at System.Net.WebClient.DownloadDataInternal(Uri address, WebRequest& request) at System.Net.WebClient.DownloadString(Uri address) at System.Net.WebClient.DownloadString(String address) at FOG.HostNameChanger.changeHostName() 08/01/2014 14:12 FOG::HostnameChanger Sleeping for 1 minute. Any help would be much appreciated, sorry for the long post aswell
  12. I would be definitely interested and I am only down the road. PM Sent.
  13. I have a trusty NavMan. It does the job but hasn't updated in a long time so you have to guess from time to time when you come to a round about when it thinks it shouldn't be there. Now though I just use google maps on my iPhone and jobs a goodun'.
  14. I have a Roku box just to watch Netflix on. Works a treat and is wireless connection to my network. I opted for the cheaper version without the USB support. Was a bit surprised with the online registration but you can set it up so that it asks for authentication before purchasing. This was for things like the games that they have on their. I use mine mainly for Netflix but also a bit of iPlayer. There are hundreds of channels on there but not sure what they are or how good they are as I'm only interested in the ones I have mentioned. I got this over Apple TV as I don't have any videos in my iTunes library and was a cheaper alternative. Got mine for £49.99 from PC World. The only time I have purchased anything from them lol.
  15. We have had issues with some old P4s. As @3s-gtech has said they would create a packet storm that would eventually grind the network to a halt. This usually happened when the machines would go into standby and wouldn't "wake" back up again. In the end we stopped the machines going into standby during the school day and was shut down at night. They were replaced shortly after. Sorry its not much help but at least you know your not the only one. May be worth checking stand by and see if you can replicate?
  16. Sick of the amount of updates java release, not long deploy u40 to our machines!!
  17. Afternoon all, Got an issue which has got us scratching our heads here... New computer out of the box, formatted HD and installed Windows 7 Pro. Joined the machine to the domain after installing all updates. Logged in with our test student account and the desktop isn't applying correctly. Tested the account on another machine and working perfectly. The main issue at the minute is that the background colour is set as black rather than the blue that we set in the mandatory profile. Any ideas? Thanks Andy
  18. Have you tried ever note? I have this on my laptop and a client on my desktop and it does this just fine.
  19. Spinning around on the office chair is always good...until someone walks in lol
  20. I have the same problem on my machine in the office. It gets rather annoying on monday morning after i shut the computer down over the weekend. I know this doesn't help but if anyone knows how to fix this I would like to know aswell.
  21. Morning all, I have been having a bit of a nightmare with Securit 5000-32 software. I have been asked to move this off a failing Windows 2000 box onto Windows 7. I was wondering if any of you know how to install the licence key and get it out of demo mode. I have called securit 3 times only to be greeted by answer machine messages, contacted the LA to see if they have any advice as they seem to have installed the software origanally but nothing. If any of you could help it would be great.
  22. We have had the same issue with them. Although they seem to play fine in IE10. Just not working in IE 9 with updated flash and website added to filtering software. Told a couple of our users to just download the video by clicking on the embed button. Will try the Compatability view to see if that fixes it for us.
  23. We use virtualbox, @bwestlake we set the drives on the virtual machine to immutable so that they can't make any permanent changes to the VM
  24. I would do what @sted said. Create a startup script and add a check to it to see if a file exists. If it does ignore the install.
