Thanks for resurrecting this thread ....... I really need this right now and may be asking questions in the near near near future!

I speak to Bill quite a lot (who wrote that) ..... hes a good guy and willing to help out. Got some good ideas. Will point him to this thread! I plan to try this sometime next week (been wanting to for ages but haven't had the time!)

Groupcall does work and is supported, with Anycomms, on 64bit. I spoke to their Technical Support Lead at Groupcall (can't remember his name!) after speaking to my LEA. They remoted in and installed the new version of Groupcall (it's all based in a shiny MMC) just to see if it worked. Groupcall (the x86 version) did install on our server, but the problem was is that it was running in Session 0 - so it was not configurable as it didn't display a GUI Hope this helps

Was the locked fields. My fault as I didnt populate all their fields/didn't understand how the profile system in Moodle works! cheers

Try atattched, we use it here for our staff laptops and the very few AP's we have here. Need to stick it in a computer startup script in GPO (stick the batch file AND the exe in the GPO!) You'll also need to edit the batch file, pretty self explanatory in there..... Wireless autojoin.rar

cookie_monster - you need to request this from your SIMS LA Team or Capita. To apply the patch, this is done through DB upgrade. You need to unzip this. We have done that where I am at the mo. We used to use a very well known (not going to say the name here!) hosted VLE off site, but could not get started with it due to the downtime of it and the "lurr" of having an internally hosted platform so, if the internet went down and teachers/students could access resources was too great. We moved to Moodle and have really started to develop it now; Parents will be signed onto it from the summer. The way we persuaded Management was good here, our LEA has set up a network managers mailing list so we emailed that and compiled a document here. Lots of schools moved from this provider to Moodle; and with the documented experiences of theirs - we did too! Hope that helps

If I was you, I would go through it all yourself. It may take you a while, but with the proper forward planning it should be fine. Then you should know how your network is designed; and any snags that could possibly occurr.

Yes, I would centralise to a signle server but have no other services running on it. We plan to do the same in the summer with a lot of our SQL services. The only thing we are keeping seperate are Eclipse.Net and SIMS. SIMS, I would almost certainly keep to it's own box.

I put together some really botched notes for our SQL 2005-2008 SIMS migration when we did it from our old sql2005 to a new sql2008 server. See attatched. Our LEA has not tested FMS on SQL 2008 yet so I can't go ahead and migrate that - so it is still running on the old box. Won't mess it up. Just pop the cd in, custom -> management tools, install - and should do the trick

Literally pop the CD in/mount the ISO and install the management tools like you would set up Exchange. Just choose Custom Install and tick "Management Tools". Install the Exchange 2010 Management Tools: Exchange 2010 Help
