Hi, is it possible have "in" operator like filter in command reporter? We are pulling results from the system with command reporter, but i would like to specify aspect ids dynamically (now i can add so many as I defined on the report designer). Some times I have one aspect id, most of the cases 20-50 aspect ids. Is there an option to add one filter at report designer and feed with multiple ids? thanks for you help.

How is everyone working CLR in hosted environments? Our school is new to both it and SIMS. I've downloaded the CommandReporter Utility 5.2 spreadsheet available from ESS but does it need to be run in the third-party connector machine (this is our SIMS server where CommandReporter.exe is located). If so is it possible to output the report, once run, into my local desktop somewhere so it can sync with Power Query, Power BI etc.?

I've seen a few posts on here regarding people using commandreporter to generate/automate running the reports and exporting .xml files. For a while now ive been creating a set of templates in excel to create graphs/student/department/behaviour profiles for students etc. command reporter is very usefull and plays right into my hands having based my excel template files on reading xml reports. I've got my head around the param files and using filters and have now got a batch script running as a scheduled task. The script essentially does the following: open and excel file with auto_open macro that >Works out the date range for last week for the report parameters > generates a prama.xml file for the command report (to make the date rang dynamic)> closes the excel file> Runs commandreporter> opens the excel template for the chart/profiling sheet i'm using> this then reads the XML output from the report and emails PDF's to departments/people etc in the template. Setting up the reports has reduced so many repetitive tasks but i think i could refine this further. I looking to code this further/simplifiy how I've done this and am think maybe .Net or something may help. Has anyone else gone down this route themselves or have people tended to buy in software from other vendors.

I don't think it's been mentioned here yet, but for those of you that don't frequent SupportNet, something of interest... A java based API for SIMS Command Reporter just published. Hi, As a bit of background, I am writing an app at the moment for students, staff and parents to use as a communication tool with school. Its based around homework really, but with other facilities built in too. One of these other facilities is the ability for students and parents to see the students timetable. The way I've tried to do this is to create a report in SIMS giving students, their classes, when these classes are timetabled and which which teacher. I then use SIMS CommandReporter to extract this data and import into a database that I can then query to reproduce a timetable for a student. This looked like it was working fine, but during trials with students, a few students reported that their timetable was incorrect in the app. Upon investigation the results showed that the SIMS report included some students apparently being taught 2 lessons at the same time. Speaking to the timetable person here, (my knowledge of how to use SIMS is very patchy I should admit) this is correct and in SIMS itself, they have to tick a box to say which of the multiple classes the student actually attends (I think in this particular case, the student was in an intervention class, so rather than attending mainstream English, they attend the intervention class). I think this tickbox was called 'assigning' the class to the student. I went back to the report fields available and unfortunately there isn't an 'assigned' field that I could pick up and use to exclude classes that they don't actually attend. Its a bit of a long shot, but I wondered if anyone knew where to pick up this attribute and/or another way to automatically export student timetables from SIMS such that this could them be imported into a database. Many thanks, Meldrew.
