Exchange 2010 Global Address Book not aways visable
rh91uk replied to eddyc's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Yes, I agree with the above - one thing that I would suggest to test is logging onto OWA for Exch 2010 as a student and seeing whether they have the GAL in there.... -
[sims] Urgent Help needed !! Can't logon to sims.net

Have you tried restarting the SQL service? Usually does the trick for us (but oh so dirty!) -
@A5Ben, as far as I am aware - back when we were using FOG we needed to delete the computer from AD before reimaging it. Im sure there is a way to get it to do it on auto, but that seemed easier for us!

Your LA should have the SIMS dot net Third Party Reporting SDK CHM file, they sent it to us. Would post it up, but don't think I am allowed to share it?

Premier Inn in London is where I will be staying next time in london. Won't be staying at a travellodge again after the state of the sheets when we got there!

I;d be interested to know why the patch knocked it out ... once you've contacted your LA support team could you let us know? What was the patch #? -
How far do you travel to work, how long does it take?

Takes me 10 minutes on a train, 25 minutes sometimes in a car. -
Depoying Win 7 out on MASS. How are others doing it?

We do ours using SCCM with MDT after moving from FOG, has saved us bags of time (oh, and DELL release packs for SCCM too..!) -
The QuickAccess toolbar is always a winner when selling things here with Word 10.

It's that old chesnut - I used to forget it all the time. I scripted the install of FMS/native client so I never have to remember to do that again
-
Have you installed the SQL Native Client?

IIS can be out the box if your using something basic for Eclipse.net. What I did do though is not use the Default Web Site and created a new Eclipse site. It's quite weird ... I haven't touched the server for a while and it seems to be swimming along *touch wood* with the most minimal of config.

From what I see, you will need to inform the hosting co of the new IP it is being hosted at ..... would help if it was an LA and if you were on an LA IP range. You may also need to open ports on the firewall to the new IP to allow SMTP/POP etc. A bit of a struggle without knowing your present setup. Do they share the same net connection? You get your net from the LA?

We name all of ours after Harry Potter here.... for instance our 4 DC's are potter, hermione, ron, dumbledore. Our Email servers: malfoy, chang with the CAS servers being crabbe/goyle. Just a small few examples from us!

@MicrodigitUK - I haven't tried it myself. Howabout trying to ask your LEA for the Business Objects documentation as that seems to be the only way!

Hi, We've run a SIMS report into Excel and whereas everything is fine, we can't change the date format.. http://i55.tinypic.com/2l895lj.png I think I'm being quite thick here, does anyone have any advice? Cheers

Open Source Asset Manager Project
rh91uk replied to samtayuk's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Obviously the FMS equipment register will take a while to set up, but it again has a pro of having a central store of data again (one of our reasons for moving all Assessment and Registration to SIMS as we are very luddite..!) -
Open Source Asset Manager Project
rh91uk replied to samtayuk's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We use Spiceworks and it works fine for us .... thinking of using the equipment register in FMS for this. Some library systems can be useful asset managers too. I know a school who uses AccessIt for this. Think it can be done with eclipse.net too. -
Hi Phil Just clutching at straws here ..... is the column a "formula entry" column and if so, it must have an aspect (I think!) attatched to it. If not, perhaps try adding one with an aspect and try exporting that into the word report. You can always make this column "read only". Cheers

Have you tried removing the desktop.ini from the folder?
-
I would also deny it. I assume you have monitoring systems in place, so as such, I assume it's a correctly monitored email account
-
If I recall from our days of using IEP writer ... (i stand corrected whether I am wrong) isn't there a SENIEPImport.exe that needs to be imported to every machine too?

Unfortunately as discussed Printing in classes sometimes cannot be avoided - but with full support for a system like Papercut it will work a charm. We moved all our Photocopiers to Papercut and we now have a standardized method of charging. I would love to rip every printer out and put a big MFD/photocopier on every floor!
