  1. Can anyone give me a little advice? On my laptop every time I try to run a report in SIMS.net that uses Excel, Excel just crashes. In Excel I see the data that I want but then a box pops up saying “Microsoft Excel has stopped working” and will not let me do anything else. I'm using Windows 7 64bit and MS Office 2010 Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks Sam
  2. Hey, I'm Stuck! I'm trying to work out the best way to use Folder Redirect cross Laptops and Desktops but only have offline files on laptops and not on the desktops. Hope not makes sense! Sam
  3. I turn off the UAC then run: SIMSApplicationSetup.exe /S {QuietMode} {NoServerApps} [sIMSDotNetDirectory]="%PROGRAMFILES%\SIMS\SIMS.net" Seems to run great. I found help here: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/63195-installing-sims-net-windows-7-64-bit.html
  4. I have fixed this issue by turning off UAC Thanks Sam
  5. Sims.net tries to update every time its loaded up on windows 7 64bit. Seems to be trying to install simscentralserver, not sure why this is need for a work station. Can anyone give me any ideas? Thanks Sam
  6. Hey, I'm just about to rebuild the schools networks with a new server (Windows Server 2008 R2 (from scratch)) and retire our old IBM servers(windows server 2003). I just wanted some ideas on features and security. If you was rebuilding your network, how would you do it? What software and features would you use? How would you setup the profiles? Would you use folder redirect? etc.. Thanks Sam
  7. rh91uk: Just been looking at FMS equipment register, looks great and can import! Yay!
  8. @rh91uk: I didn't know about equipment register in FMS, I'll have a look in the morning. Spiceworks worked really well apart from no bulk edit, I just can't believe that it doesn't have that feature. Importing just a pain and has killed my data a few times.
  9. I have been looking for an Asset manager (open Source and Paid) and I can not find anything that fits our school just right. I have looked and tested a good few. I have used GPLI for a year and its just to hard to track information and compile reports. I have tested Spiceworks and it work well but have core missing features like bulk edit and import/export. I have been thinking of writing something open source in python. Have you found software that fits right? Would any developers like to help out?
