  1. Mike is right re: solus 3, however if you do not have this yet try my script on this thread: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/67803-sims-install-windows-7-problem-unable-write-shared-directory-s-sims.html#post607004

    Outlook 2011

I am hoping we can import the settings using a plist (so teachers and staff dont have to configure it themselves) - will keep you posted

    Outlook 2011

Thanks Boon72 - it works fine when its configured manually, just wanted something more automatic really so they didnt have to do it!

    Outlook 2011

Hello all, I would be very interested to hear if any of you have integrated Outlook 2011 for Mac to configure automatically with Exchange 2010? Obviously very easy to do in Windows but not much so in Mac! Cheers rh91uk
  5. Automatic lockout every 10 minutes of inactivity.
  6. Antonio, it did - thanks so much!
  7. Hi, I know this has been discussed before, but is there anyone who has managed to remove the selected below? http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/3394/howdoinetworkappsutil.png Driving me nuts! Thanks, Rich
  8. We are quite lucky actually, they were really behind it and encouraged it as it was a *need to be done*. We had just put in a new network aswell and we saw that, by having a cutting edge network (Juniper based switching) , we needed cutting edge technology and software too - so we rolled out W7 over XP, brought a lot of new computers to replace aging ones and also rolled out near enough 80 thin clients. Oh, and we started Electronic Reigstration this year too and moved them to Office 2010. Won't be doing any big changes for a while, though
  9. All through Moodle here and parents have logins to Moodle and was incredibly useful on the snow day!
  10. I backup using an SQL maintenance plan and then script it and copy it to a seperate NAS Box. However, I should look at scripting detaching the database as that gives us better flexibility as such. However I have restored BAKS with logins before with no problem using the enclosed script which adds the "Restore Backup" to your dbAttatch program from SIMS
  11. No worries, feel free to PM me if you do get in the area and pop down to us too for a visit 10 mins away!
  12. We use a Vanilla based network with Windows 7 since the summer and it has been pretty flawless actually *touch wood*
  13. I had an interview recently where I scored near enough top marks for technical. What I would do is polish up on your MS knowledge (presuming they use MS!). I also got asked questions on networking and RAID config.
  14. Glennda, I am from East Sussex and it is something we considered but have not gone for just yet. I have PM'ed you a contact at another school who may help.
  15. PR-Pupil Data Dazzles at BETT 2010
  16. We have run Exchange 2007 then 2010 all in virtual environments. Seems to work fine here! We do spread the roles across multiple exchange servers, though.
  17. I really can't wait to demo this to SMT, will make the SIMS discussions more interesting
  18. Sorry to bring up an older thread. Thanks Tony for your detailed explanation, I got this working. I understand that you need to kill the finder in order for the plist to take effect, but is there any way I can do this on logon so they get the setting from the word go? Thanks!
  19. I use a scirpt to copy the program files to the workstation, but that's because we are using a really vintage old version!
  20. They are really good and a nice chance for networking. Both me and my boss (we all know who my boss is on here) go as NM and ANM due to overlapping areas and is a good day out and a good opportunity for a chat. I'd be interested to hear what school your from wideboymark, if you want to PM that's fine
  21. R2-D2, I think I may be slightly confused here ... but are they selecting their class group off the "My Classes Timeline" and still getting both groups? If you go to (I think if I remember pre lesson monitor), Focus -> Attedance -> Take Register, does the teacher have one group on the timeline or more than one for that particular time of the day? Sorry for the confusion
  22. God yes! I am so glad we went for one of their competitors now! Also a +1 for communicate for Print, they seem to love it here. Just wanted to add my thanks to everyone for the freebies and the chat on the EduGeek stand. I am one of the quieter members, I will try and make myself a bit more "louder" this year

    APAcs Printers

Hi all, I thought I would ask about here. A quick question as this is causing us a big headache and we want to ensure we are getting the correct equipment. Have any of you brought new printers for your finance department as of late, especially to print the cheques. County Ed Finance say they need to be “APACs” approved, but the quotes I am getting are around £1500 Anyone done this recently and got any suggestions? Have a good weekend, and see some of you at BETT tommorow!
