Hi, One of the Art students wants to connect her MacBook Pro 13” 2017 to two projectors. The projectors are old NEC VT580s that the Art department borrow and only have VGA inputs. The student wants to project the same image through both projectors if that helps. The MacBook has USB-C ports so I was wondering if a USB-C to dual VGA adapter would work? Thanks in advance.

I imported all 500 external email addresses into my contacts in OWA, from a csv. I then created a “contact list” in OWA, but it doesn’t seem possible to add all 500 email addresses to my new contact list in one hit?? I can only seem to add each email to my new contact list individually!? Surely it must be possible to add large numbers of contacts to a contact list in one go? When I select all 500 contacts the option to “Add to list” becomes greyed out???

Hi, I have been given a spreadsheet with a very large amount of email addresses. What is the easiest way to extract all of the emails addresses into the Outlook web app, so that emails can be sent to all of the recipients please? The only stipulation is that each recipient must not be able to see any of the other email addresses. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I thought that Excel might be interpreting the data as time, due to all of the colons! I have right clicked on the random decimal number and went into format cell. Then tried changing the format to all of the different options such as general or text, but the very long random decimal number still exists!!!

Hi I have been asked to remove colons from columns in excel 2016. I have used the substitute function to remove the colons from the data but after the function has been applied, it changed the data to a different decimal number with loads of digits after the decimal point! I just need the colon replaced with a decimal point in the new column, but I can’t remember what I need to do so that I don’t get this long random decimal number! Just wondered if anyone knows how to just replace the colon with a decimal point, without changing the original number to a random long decimal please?

Ha ha! Most of them don’t probably don’t know what it means! The head of computing has said that sometimes when the machines are showing the globe, some students don’t have access to their documents/files. I searched online and apparently in Windows 10, the “ Network Connectivity Status Indicator (NCSI) connects to a “test site” to verify if the returned content is the “Microsoft Connect Test” string. If that is the case, NCSI will command the operating system to display a “connected” or “No Internet” message if it isn’t. I just don’t know why this only affects some of the machines in school???

Thanks for the info. It’s not a big issue as 9/10 times the globe is misleading as the machines are not normally offline as the globe implies. Just wondered if there was a solid solution really as teachers think that they are offline!!

Hi, I know that this has been a known issue with Windows 10 for a long time, but is there a permanent fix for the issue where windows 10 implies that a machine is offline, when it clearly isn’t? It’s not a big deal, as after logging in the users realise that the machine is not actually offline!! Surely Microsoft have fixed this by now??? I have seen a registry fix for the NCSI but there must be an MS fix by now?

Thanks for the info, I have only recently installed MEE and Classroom mode. MEE is the latest version 1.17.32.00 and Classroom mode is version 1.81. MEE seems to work fine, but we cannot login at all to Classroom mode as a dialogue box appears stating that ‘Service login failed’ Don’t suppose that you can suggest anything else to check?

Hi I was asked to install Minecraft Education Edition and Classroom mode. MEE works but when we try and login to Classroom mode the attached dialogue appears. I have tried uninstalling MEE and Classroom mode and I have checked that the same version of MEE is installed everywhere. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this? Thanks

This issue has only been reported since returning from the half term break last week! We haven’t changed anything this end at all. This seems minor but is affecting a large number of staff!!

Thanks for that, we are advising staff to upload their PowerPoint files to OneDrive as athough that stupid YouTube landing page appears when they use Office 2016 locally, when they upload the PP files to OneDrive the links work just fine??

Hello, the head of computing has reported that assignments is not working as it was last week. I suspect that a Teams update is causing this issue, but I just wondered if anyone else has heard about this Teams assignment issue yet? Here is what the member of staff reported. Just come to mark some work this morning and the feature of “return for revision” doesn’t work properly this morning. Previously when you return a piece of work for revision it appears back in the list of work that students still need to do and in the “To return” list for staff marking it. But today “Needs revision” is now appearing in the “returned” list and as complete even though it says “needs revision”. It is showing with a tick to say it is completed. This means that it no longer appears in the list of work still to do so I cant see it in my list of active assignments – it thinks they are complete even though there is work still to do. Last week it didn’t do this – the work shows up as being needed to return. The "needs revision" work should not be in this section and should not be marked as complete (the tick). This means that even though an assignment has work outstanding – it no longer appears in my list and I have to go looking for it (remembering if there is work still to mark) rather than it appear in the list of assignments. This is showing as all complete and is no longer in my list – but there are lots of students who need to redo their work so it shouldn’t be complete They should show up in the assigned list with the bar under it showing that some are still to complete – but they don’t now do this. You used to know you were waiting for work as it appeared in the assignments “assigned” list – it now doesn’t so you don’t know if there is work you are waiting for.

The network manager isn’t sure how to license Minecraft. The school has MS A3 licences at the moment.

Hi All, Just wondering what the most pain free way is to install Minecraft Education Edition. We don’t have SCCM but we have PDQ. The head of computing said that we can purchase Minecraft Education Edition from the Microsoft store, but the store doesn’t work in a school environment with thousands of users. I have read through this old post http://www.edugeek.net/forums/educational-software/186655-minecraft-education-how-do-you-deploy-3.html but I am not sure if anyone has deployed Minecraft more recently, as Microsoft seem to change everything on a daily basis these days!!!! Hi, We have a networked Brother MFC-J6520DW printer in the DT department. Whenever the head of DT prints from his staff machine the print jobs are always in A5. I logged in with the admin account and added the printer and the same occurred for me. Every other machine can print in A4 to the printer except the head of DT’s staff machine. Obviously the printer is networked and therefore I assume that it can’t be an issue with the driver on the server, or it would surely affect other machines? The head of DT can print in A4 just fine to the Brother printer from other machines. Just wondered if anyone has any idea of why this is happening? The driver is a Microsoft IPP class driver and it’s a type 4 driver. I have no access to the print server but can’t see that it’s a driver issue on the server, or surely it would affect all machines? Thanks, we have the desktop version of 2016 installed, but staff use the web version of Outlook as the network manager prefers that staff don’t use the desktop client version of Outlook.He has locked down the desktop version so that they can’t use it.
