Hi, The Teams desktop client is not updating for staff and we are generally running Teams Version 1.3.00.34662 (64-bit). When any member of staff attempts to manually update the Teams client via the profile dropdown menu, nothing happens! When a member of staff attempts to check which version of the Teams client that they have installed, inside or outside of school, nothing happens! Can't be filtering, as this is the case outside of school on a personal laptop. It must be a policy or permissions setting somewhere? But where? Interestingly, when I asked my son to login to Teams (from home) with his school account (different school), he could update the client and check the version with his student account... Just wondered if anyone has seen this before please?

Hi, The heads PA asked me to create a form in MS Forms for the 11 + applicants and I have created a fillable form. The heads PA doesn't want me to receive the responses from parents, so I have been asked to somehow change the form so that the heads PA receives the responses from parents. I cannot see how to add another user so that they receive the responses from the parents and wondered if there is a way to do this please? I have never used MS Forms previously! Thanks

Thanks Jcx500. We are using a proxy (Sophos WS1100 web appliance). The IT manager said that it's the Firewall that Kcom manage that is blocking GoToWebinar, but I don't really know what to enter in some of the cells on the Firewall request form that they sent to me! I have never filled one of these forms out before!

Thanks gmonks, I contacted Kcom as the IT manager said that the LA Firewall must be blocking GoToWebinar and they sent me the form as shown below to fill out, but they couldn't tell me how to fill it out! I am not sure where the form asks for the "source address of traffic/subnet" do they want the IP range of the whole school network? Also, where the form asks "Destination address" and "Destination protocol" what should I put in there as there are several ports that need to be unblocked according to this page https://support.goto.com/webinar/hel...tion-g2w060025 I am just not entirely sure what to put in those cells?

Hi, Staff are unable to participate in any webinars using GoToWebinar. Teams, Zoom and every other video conferencing app seems to work except GoToWebinar. The IT manager informed me that the domain is not blocked. We sit behind a Kcom firewall as we are based in Lincolnshire. The IT manager thinks that it's getting blocked by the Kcom firewall. Is there anyway that I can find out definitively, if it's the Kcom firewall that's blocking it? Tried different browsers etc... I downloaded the GoTo Meeting desktop app, but even after logging in with the admin account, the dialogue box shown below appears after running the client software? Thanks

How do I delete folders in Teams
cheaptonersucks replied to cheaptonersucks's topic in Office Software
Thanks Steve. -
Hi, Some staff have reported that they cannot upload class resources (files) using the Teams app, but they can upload using the web based version of Teams?? Is it just me or is Teams a but “quirky”? Then sometimes staff report that they can do something in the app but not the web version?? Are the app and the web based version in different dimensions? I have seen some staff get that nice graphic of a bicycle stating “something went wrong” on numerous occasion, when I have watched them and they are doing everything correctly??

Anki software error - filtering?
cheaptonersucks replied to cheaptonersucks's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Thanks for the link Steve. I will have a look at the info and see if I have the powers to resolve this! Hopefully any solution doesn’t require any permissions to the servers or I will be screwed -
How do I delete folders in Teams
cheaptonersucks replied to cheaptonersucks's topic in Office Software
Well...I don’t have any admin permission for Teams. In fact I don’t really have access/permission to much at all really... except installing software . I am just trying to help the NM. I am pretty sure that he cannot delete folders in assignments, but I will check to be sure. Thanks. -
Hi Steve, we tried just deploying the OneDrive.exe but it didn’t work reliably. The only way that we can get OneDrive for business to show up in file explorer (reliably) is to deploy Office 2016 again using the custom installer. I know what you mean about not needing to uninstall but we have had problems previously when we have not uninstalled office completely. Every time I post anything regarding IT problems I just get you replies stating that I shouldn’t be using roaming profiles with Windows 10!’. I know that roaming profiles are causing issues in Windows 10, but am only the IT Tech, therefore I don’t have the power to move away from roaming profiles. It’s a mess to be honest, as staff and students are not seeing programs in the start menu at times, but I feel helpless as I can’t change anything that fundamental, as I don’t have the power to make that call. Just a tech with limited access and user rights!

Hi I can delete individual files within folders in Teams, but can’t see where to delete the folder containing the files, as it would save time just deleting the folders? Thanks

Hi, Some staff are reporting that they are having to manually refresh Outlook in O365 as new emails are not showing up when they are sent, unless they click on their sent items, then back on their inbox?? I have seen this and although my emails seem to be coming through ok, they shouldn’t have to refresh their inbox to see new emails. Finding O365 ‘quirky’ compared to older versions of Office!

Hi, the head of PE asked me to download some software called ‘Anki’ https://apps.ankiweb.net/ but even though the top level level domain is whitelisted in our Sophos web appliance, the software errors when trying to ‘sync’. Just wondered if anyone out there has any knowledge of this software and what you did to get it working? The error states that ‘A network error occurred’. os error 10061. Thanks

A teacher has set an inappropriate profile picture and we can't see where to remove the picture in Teams. Sorry, bit of a newb with Teams! Thanks

Hi, Some users are reporting that OneDrive is not displaying in file explorer. We still use roaming profiles (I know...) which is probably why this is occurring. We are running windows 10 1909, and was wondering if anyone knows how to deploy OneDrive for business, without having to re-install Office 2016? I think the problem is that the version of OneDrive that is part of windows 10 uses appdata, and the roaming profiles are breaking the appdata settings? Thanks

Office 2016 apps not being displayed for some students
cheaptonersucks replied to cheaptonersucks's topic in Windows 10
Thanks, it will have to be done as roaming profiles seem to be breaking everything! OneDrive does appear for some users in file explorer sometimes! Programs not appearing in the start menu...sometimes...etc etc.- 7 replies

OneDrive not appearing for students in windows 10 1909
cheaptonersucks replied to cheaptonersucks's topic in Windows 10
Is it a big task moving from roaming profiles to local? I am not the IT manger, so don’t have the rights permissions to the servers to move to local profiles anyway but am just interested. -
OneDrive not appearing for students in windows 10 1909
cheaptonersucks replied to cheaptonersucks's topic in Windows 10
Thanks, I thought roaming profiles was the cause. What type of profile do you use? -
Hi, Staff can view/access OneDrive on the left hand side in the folder structure within file explorer in windows 10. Students don't have anything in file explorer for OneDrive, but can obviously access OneDrive via 365. The IT manager has checked and can't find any policies that would be causing this to happen. We are running roaming profiles, but staff have roaming profiles, and they do have OneDrive showing in file explorer. Just wondered if anyone has any ideas why this is occurring please? There isn't anything showing for OneDrive in appdata for students?? But there is for staff??

Thanks, we have been looking at moving to local profiles. It’s just finding the time to get it done. Is there a good guide on how to setup local profiles?- 7 replies
