  1. I've been thinking about getting this but I already pay £15 a month to Spotify and £20 to Now TV and can't justify switching to Amazon when the music and TV services aren't as good.
  2. I'd have to agree with you, I've never got its appeal either.
  3. I've heard good things about WASP, don't have the money for it here but demo's I've seen have been impressive and they have a smartphone app to scan stuff into or out of inventory using your phone if you need to. Here I use an Excel spreadsheet and a hand held barcode scanner
  4. Can you write to the drive? if it's a SSD it could be that it has failed and switched to a read only state for the entire drive to protect the data.
  5. I have 2 domains here, admin and curriculum and they were born on the 29th and 30th October 2013 respectively, I don't remember starting fresh when we got rid of Ranger but we must have, I did only work for the company that supported the school at the time so I may not have been one of the guys that came to do the job.
  6. I've never seen the original but that trailer looks amazing, definitely one I'll be going to see.
  7. I normally ask them what the big black box under their monitor is called, if they call it the Hard Drive that tells be everything I need to know about their understanding of ICT.
  8. I've got mine set to shut down when the lid is closed and disabled sleep/hibernate this way when they are put back in the trolley, they shut down and install any updates that are waiting before powering down.
  9. I can vouch that you can put a raid 1 disk into another computer as I have a disk that kept needing to rebuild when it was in our admin server and I currently have is sat in my USB drive reader and it's perfectly readable in windows 10. But I agree don't rely on raid as your only backup, get something else in place too.
  10. Didn't want to start a new thread but just thought I'd let everyone know that Skate 3 has been added to Xbox One backward compatibility list, this was one of my favourite 360 titles. An updated list of backward compatible games can be found here https://majornelson.com/blog/xbox-one-backward-compatibility/
  11. If you do go down the HP Microserver route keep an eye out for cashback deals, I've seen them drop down to around £115 after cash back (obviously that's the entry level) then all you need are the HDD's and a bit of extra ram if the 4GB supplied isn't enough.
  12. I know HP do a micro server for small business/home use, not sure on dB levels though. Do you need a server? most modern desktop PC motherboards can do raid these days.
  13. My mum and dad "donated" my BBC Micro to my primary school when I left in 1989. Still not forgiven them, Family Sunday roasts are still super awkward.

    The Division

yeah there's a new tier with 256GS loot coming in the patch, it's due Q1 2017
  15. What OS are you using? I couldn't get them working in any shape or form in Windows 10, not sure if 8 would be the same as we skipped it.

    The Division

Has anyone been watching the Survival DLC gameplay? I watched a bit yesterday while I was off work sick in bed, it looks pretty cool bringing a few new mechanics to the gameplay like managing your body temperature and health. It definitely has a Battle Royale/Hunger Games vibe to it, opening up the entire map for for either PVP or PVE with 21 other players depending on the option you choose and there's no need to worry about getting your backside kick by OP players as everyone starts the 2 hour session with no gear other than a high end pistol. It's available on PC via the PTS for anyone who has the season pass but no release date has been set yet for when it will be available on other platforms Personally I've got right back in to The Division since they re-balanced everything in patch 1.4 and am super hyped for Survival.
  17. My School is a Primary with 660 pupils and we have no ICT suite, we have 3 Laptop trolleys and 2 iPad trolleys in KS2 and our KS1 classrooms have 18 iPads and 18 Laptops shared between them. The system works fine for us, I've worked in schools with and without ICT suites and I have to say IMO there really isn't a need to have a dedicated suite with the portability of laptops and iPads as long as you have the wireless infrastructure to support.
  18. I had a similar issue not so long ago with the EL00052 visualisers and someone on here told me they solved it by deleting the current driver in device manager and letting windows pick up its own driver. This is the thread I started http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-10/175298-tts-easi-view-broken-windows-10-anniversary-update.html
  19. Can't say I've had the issue, all of my classrooms run windows 10 on duplicate, we do use desktop PC's though, none of our windows 10 laptops use a second screen.
  20. I have around 100 Fujitsu laptops, Overall I'd say the build quality is pretty good not had any major hardware failures in the 3 years I've had them, I have had small issues with trackpads becoming unresponsive and only working again after a reboot and I had a complete nightmare with wireless connectivity on Windows 7 but since switching them over to 10 that issues seems to have gone.

    Gaming Chat

I have it, it's a great laugh if you can get a few people on a couch playing it, be warned though some of the levels need a pretty beefy GPU to handle everything that is going on on screen.
  22. I had a similar situation with our Smart Tables (a purchase made by the head after a BETT trip that had been almost completely unused since) I upgraded one to Windows 10 and downloaded some touch screen apps from the Windows store, the one that I upgraded gets used all of the time now and the other 2 sit there in the corridor gathering dust. I will eventually find the time to do the same to the others. Look on the Windows Store, there is a vast array of apps and games that are great for SEN just get the SENCO to have a look see.
  23. Thanks for the heads up, I still haven't got AC2 working to how I want and was on the verge of hitting the upgrade button. I'm guessing from the sigh you have installed it and found out the hard way? Is there no way you can roll back to El Capitan?
  24. I have 3 around the school all running off of Intel NUC pc's, normal domestic use Televisions are not rated for always on use and if the manufacturer thinks they have been your warranty will be void, I have 2 Samsung domestic TV's one in a meeting room that hardly gets used and one in the foyer that is always on and I've had nothing but problems with the latter. I had a 3rd Samsung 24/7 use screen that had been here and on 24/7 since the school was built in 2008, never had an issue with it and only had to replace it recently because it got broken after being hit by a flying object.
  25. 3 form entry Primary here with all support supplied in house by myself other than MIS which is still handled by the LA. I also have the option of hourly rate support from my old company if I need more hands.
