yeah that's definitely a dreamcast, saw the back of mine when I woke up this morning and thought of this thread.

I'm actually looking forward to this after The Grand Tour left me feeling a little disappointed, I'm sure it will get better but if this is the way things are going to continue with them alternating like this I will be a happy man.

So was anyone else on the Wildlands closed beta this weekend? I was and I'm a bit concerned that the release is only a month away: It needs a lot of polish, the scenery looks beautiful from afar but when you're crawling through the bushes and tall grass it looks very last gen. Vehicle handling is poor, nothing feels very weighty and the complete lack of rudder control on the helicopters is baffling. GTA 5 has it spot on for this type of game, just use their handling model. There is no real cover mechanic that I've noticed, you just crouch behind stuff and hope you don't get shot when you poke your entire body out to get a shot off. If you play alone you get 3 AI bots but if you play with a friend you can't add a couple of AI bots to bolster your squad. On a positive note, I did have an enjoyable experience with it and I'm pretty sure I'll be picking it up come March because the game-play is definitely there especially when you have a full squad of 4 friend playing and you can all perform different tasks to recon and take down a target.

you could look at doing a gradual roll out of new AP's I had to do that here as we had a Netgear managed system in place already that wasn't coping with having all of the laptops logging on at the same time, so I put Ubiquiti AP's in every other classroom and configured the load balancing on the Netgear controller to only allow 10 connections per AP before denying access at which point the laptops would then start connecting to the nearest Ubiquiti AP.

I was looking at the https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/ website as Safer Internet day is next week and we have a few things planned for it, anyhoo they recommend assessing your online safety policy and practice by taking some time to fill in a a few multiple choice questions on the https://360safe.org.uk/ website. So I registered on 360 Safe and the first thing they did was send me an email with my username and password that I had just set, now is it just me or does that not seem very 360 Safe? I mean c'mon a website set up to help you find flaws in your e-safety police and they are sending out passwords via email, what is this 1995???

Completed Titanfall 2 last night, I picked up both Titanfall and BF1 at the same time back in December and hadn't touched Titanfall until Monday and I have to say I've had more fun in the 8 hour Titanfall single payer campaign and a couple of hours on the multiplayer than I have had in the 2 infuriating months of BF1. I'd definitely recommend picking it up if you see if on sale or even if it's not.

I've had this happen a few times to the point that I will record the opening of boxes I think could be damaged on arrival. I'm pretty sure the 28 day thing is the norm, if you know the supplier well they may make an exception, I bought 40 HP laptops and I found one had a broken screen when I finally got around to unboxing it almost 2 months later, the supplier originally said that it would have to go through manufacturer warranty which of course would cost as it was physical damage and not a hardware fault, after a bit of back and forth with the supplier they agreed to pay for the new screen and I fitted it. Moral of the story is always check everything as soon as it arrives to avoid headaches.

We've got 3 Sharp MFP's here on a 3 year deal currently just into year 2, the one that gets the most heavy use is ridiculously unreliable at this point, I have to call out an engineer at least 2-3 times a month. Another thing to note with the Sharp MFP's is that the toners aren't accepted for recycling by anyone I've found other than the one Sharp recommends and they charge £30 per collection.

Does anyone know of any software that will scour folders I select for large JPG files and reduce them in size, we've got these lovely 20mp classroom cameras but they make some huge files, now I could go through all of the settings on the cameras and set them to shoot at a lower mp but that doesn't help with the ones already clogging up my servers. Does anyone know of any software that can do the job? Has to be offline as there are pictures of the kids and I don't want the nightmare of explaining why I've used an online service to do it. Ideally I'd like something that does with JPG's what Adobe media encode can do with videos and have watch folders to automatically compress the photos as and when they are put on the server.

Have you got Hardened UNC paths set and Slow link detection enabled? I think the problem is that Windows 10 tries to be so quick to boot that it's trying to do things before the hardware is fully initialised and so it fails to do a lot of things on boot especially if you are connecting over wifi, not so much of a problem with normal GPO's that can run after the machine is logged on but scripts have to be run on boot. there is also a GPO to wait for network on boot that should slow things down so it all runs correctly. I've got several scrips that run on my Win 10 machines to install things that can't be installed via GP Software distribution.

Do the licenses remain under the control of the school or are they transferred to the Student? What happens if a student leaves the Minecraft club, can you revoke the license and assign it to another user?

You can put an exception in the firewall for WMI via group policy, that should stop any further issues and keep the firewall protection in place.

Thanks that seems to have worked, not sure why I didn't think to try that as it's my go to fix when I'm having issues with windows 10 clients.

I couldn't get the Networking on one of my 2012R2 DC's to start working again so I took the opportunity to start fresh with it and install 2016, everything is working well other than Sophos enterprise console or to be more specific the endpoint on the 2016 DC. I'm getting the error message saying "Could not find a source for updated packages" so the definitions are not updating. My 2012R2 DC and Windows 10 clients are updating fine from the Subscriptions share but the 2016 DC won't update from the same folder. It seems to me that the endpoint thinks it need a different update package but it shouldn't, is anyone else running enterprise console on a 2016 Server and is it working correctly?

Different setups work for different schools, here I've had then to not shutdown on button press of lid close and the main problem I had was that they'd rarely get shut down and then when they were the entire lesson would be wasted because the laptops start updating. I have them set to shutdown on lid close now and don't have half as many issues as previous, now they are all ready to use withing a couple of minutes and if the kids forget to save their work they loose it but a I guarantee they'll only do it once because having to redo something because you rushed tends to be a big enough kick to make sure you do it right next time. Our kids don't use laptops until they get into year 2 and then it's only in groups of 10 where a TA can supervise them closely, before year 2 they use iPads and that works out just fine for us, but like I said the same setup may not work in your school, it's all a learning experience until you find what works for you.

+1 for The HP m451 I've got 4 of them and never had an issue with any of them in the 2 years we've had them but as stated by Katy make sure you use compatible toners as genuine hp will set you back over £500 for a full set.

Those 2 can be solved with group policy, set them to shut down if the lid is closed, disable switch user and you can set them to wait for the network before allowing login. The other ones you'll need to train staff to spot.
