1. make sure you've got membership of the "third party reporting" group in SIMS. 2. write a report based on the "school - period" focus. 3. pick ID {Period} from CESthirdpartyfields

After a bit of back and forth I've created a custom SIMS user group for Wonde, it's totally locked down (as much as you can with SIMS) and is still pulling the data they need for GCSEPod

RDP with Chrome OS? Then you can continue to use the SIMS client. Even with PARS you're gonna need SIMS running somewhere for it to interface.

I can't knock either having used both for extended periods. 4matrix being a local install loses points for me, using SISRA from home or any pc at work is worth it's weight in gold. 4matrix does nice student reports and every calculation you could want, SISRA has ease of use as it's huge bonus.

http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/164075-rs-connect-ed.html I use it and it's great. It's an improved version of KeepKidsSafe which was also great.

We had a load of issues recently with setting up Wonde. The issues were all based around their "grab all the data" extract methodology. Bearing in mind how little GCSEPod should need to setup accounts etc they wanted SIMS permissions that would give them virtually unlimited access. After a lot of back and forth I created a new user group type in SIMS which was as locked down as possible and it's been working fine ever since. GroupCall exporter seems much easier, though that said they've got far more access rights currently than they probably need.

[sims] SIMS REPORT WRITING - WRONG TEACHER ALLOCATED TO WRITE THE REPORT
bobsmith replied to MrsTrubble's topic in MIS Systems
isn't there an effective date in profiles which is set when you create the profiles session? -
Out of SISRA and 4Matrix I've always seen comments that are six of one and half a dozen of the other, so no clear winner. That said there are other products on the market but they don't seem to get rated as highly as either of these two. I've never had a demo that was better than either 4matrix or SISRA. If I had the budget I'd run both.

Still loving SISRA, the new EAP system was a learning curve but we've got our heads around the new interface. The fact it's web based is still keeping it in the lead over 4matrix for me.

Can you go to Routines - Admission - Admission Groups - Setup and set the Status to then "search" - screenshot the result and post it here?

Help with SIMS - creating a report to extract student specific data

So a 1 page per pupil report with various bits of info on it? Tried "individual reports" under assessment? -
Solus 3 - 1 client not working. Not sure what to do next

what are the contents of your connect.ini on the laptop? -
I've always found that if you want to solve this kind of problem you need to log in as them and see it for yourself. Of course 95% of the time you then find it's an operator issue.....

Method 2 is all done "behind the scenes" no marksheets are involved in the process. the menus required are found under tools - performance - assessment - system utilities Try this on one set of aspects and check the whole thing over before moving on. It's all about being methodical and planning every move.

Frequently whenever anyone has had an issue with individual reports it's been rows not breaking across pages in table properties. It's also a very quick thing to check compared to starting new reports.

SIMS in the Classroom and CC4
bobsmith replied to angoose's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We had the issue when I first started in schools, we were using trust relationships between our CC3 curriculum network and Pure windows Admin networks. As others have said above - 1. merge the networks 2. sit back and relax. Or just use SOLUS and be prepared to input credentials a lot. -

update - was reading something else and saw this: The points awarded to double science are averaged, which means for example, that adouble science grade of a grade 6 and a grade 5 would be averaged to two 5.5 points tofill either one or two slots as appropriate (a maximum of 11 points across two slots). so for P8 calculations it's the average - not the individual scores that count. annoying eh?
-
I've got SISRA doing all the legwork, the only issue I've got is having to split the X/Y before importing, but it's easy enough to do in excel. Apparently SISRA has a double grade ability on it's way.
-
a 5-5 will have double the points of a 5 a 5-4 will have the points of a 5+4
-
I've done this but the grades are much easier than you've put. It's awarded as follows: 9-9 9-8 8-8 8-7 7-7 7-6 etc etc

the manuals are available to download from Capita's myaccount website, which if you pay for SIMS you should have access to. LSU = local support unit - if you have one. We don't as we pay for Capitas Enhanced Support.

Has anyone had confirmation that the external ID is the issue, cos we've just discovered that we've been overwriting our half termly reports since september! We followed the instructions for find and replace the result sets in individual reports- saves hours! But this issue is now going to cause us major headaches! Is there an easy way of changing the external ID? Or are we going to have to clone, then find and replace the result set each time? Which of course will mean we'll have millions of report templates....

The teachers App doesn't work in iPhone, they've restricted it in the apple store so you can't even download it. However it works beautifully on android phones (though unsupported). But I agree with Capita that you need a reasonable sized screen and no phone is really big enough for it. Of course the teachers App isn't for parents.

Connect Ed is just the big brother of KeepKidsSafe, it's the same people and 90% the same product, but does more. SLG is horrid, though we've been promised another overhaul of it for April this year AFAIK. I've only ever heard good things about schoolcomms, I'd love to be able to try a decent parental portal - current uptake of SLG is hovering round 5%!!
