  1. that's exactly what you should be doing. Can you post a screenshot of your nest if then else screen? (ALT+PrintScreen) should crop just that window for you.
  2. From your screenshot you still need to remove the name column. the kids names and any other details you want appear when you open a marksheet.
  3. ok, then use just one aspect called "grammar" and maybe a code so you can find it e.g. my aspects tend to be called "AS Grammar", "AS GCSE AtoG Pred" etc (AS being my school abbreviation). next the marksheet you create can be for a year group at a time, or maybe a form group if that's easier. Really it's however the results of the test in the real world arrive at their desk.
  4. Yeah, if the grades available are the same each term then you only need 1 aspect. You differentiate the results using the resultsets that you set up. you don't need an aspect for name. Is year start a grade? Who will be entering the data - we need to attach some marksheets to the template - but this depends on which teachers/staff will be entering data.
  5. Hopefully because the awesome power of discover will be an integral part of SIMS 8?
  6. You broke SIMS!!! Don't ask for anything special - it gets grumpy and stops working!!! I think you've found the limitations of the system I'm afraid. BUT!!! There is a solution - even if you are going to do most of the hard work yourself. 1. write a report to output the behaviour points for every student. 2. get command reporter to run it daily for you. 3. Chuck in some macros to do the heavy lifting, and you can even get it to send emails with the information in!
  7. Yep - multiple supervisors is straight forward - I tend to include myself when I first set them up so I can see them working.
  8. Generally the answer is no, but a work around if you can figure it out is to set up a discover group and make your "designated officer" a supervisor of the group. I use this for our Persistent Absentees and it lets me know when someone joins or leaves it.
  9. @Banjo I love the concept of a basement manager in SIMS You can just apply a Group Filter to your marksheet template to filter the students for LAC (though it's not a default one available... so you'll have to create a discover group or a user defined group ) Is this one target per subject?
  10. how would you get the marks possible using that sub report?
  11. The built in reports can handle this fine, do you need something that you can't get out of them?
  12. 13A/Es2? looks the same colour as the rest of em from your mobile phone picture. Definitely colour calibration on the monitor. Should be far more obvious to distinguish than that.
  13. IF you're using eportal for the rest of the school, then it's more likely that your timetabler will have to ensure the classes are created correctly and ePORTAL would actually work right now. I've never heard of any bespoke changes being needed for a different key stage to be usable within ePORTAL.
  14. As I may have posted previously, the Teacher who administered SIMS before me just granted sweeping powers to anyone above the level of teacher, it's taken me months to whittle them back down to what is needed. Never assume a rational approach has been used before you arrived! It sounds like you'd getaway with third party reporting and not much else. Still as an IT Tech it may be worth getting system manager so that you can grant yourself specific permissions as you figure out that you need them... (all with the agreement of the current system manager/head teacher etc)
  15. system manager if you're going to be administering SIMS for them. If you're not going to be running SIMs users etc then what tasks will you be using SIMS for?
  16. yeah, the screencap won't be affected by the monitor calibration, it looks perfectly fine to me (but then it would do!) You'd actually be better with a mobile phone photo of the screen!
  17. This looks like a school that has already set up Wonde and this is just an approval for them to send the data? Does this school have the Wonde SIMS link software installed?
  18. Just tried it on mine to see how bad the colour Capita used is, and it's a very bad choice by them, but I can see the difference without any squinting. It's actually a worse grey than they use for the read only columns in marksheets!!
  19. @tben2505 please don't bite my head off, but I've found frequently with many PCs in my school that the colour calibration on the monitors is sooooo bad that the grey and white (which are really obvious on my screen) are totally indistinguishable. Even on the crappy old monitors a little tweak to the brightness/contrast makes it stand out perfectly.
  20. that's the one if the staff member has recorded the incident themselves.
  21. Even worse in my school. Some bright spark decided that all behaviour incidents would be done on paper, typed up in word and THEN entered into SIMS, by just one admin person. Guess who's name appears on every negative incident when you report?
  22. I stand corrected, master is the really important one that needs backing up. Do you not have a backup of the server that SQL is installed on? You could restore that somewhere and steal model from there?
  23. I've not been playing with SQL recently, but the model database holds all the users and other useful things that SQL needs to know about. restore it from a recent backup surely?
  24. Nope, no reason that a sufficiently well spec'd VM would be a bad idea. The benefits of a VM have got to outweigh any costs. Plus with SIMS 8 due for secondaries in the next 12 months (or so) I wouldn't be chucking money at a physical server which you may be doing away with.
  25. If the photographers make enough sales then we didn't pay for the service, but in recent years it started costing as parents weren't buying the photos.
