  1. I think - 'Best Rural ISP' as everyone is getting the same quality connection as if they were in the countryside. I think - 'Best Security & Consumer Protection' as the connection is lovely and secure. No naughty content making it through if the service doesn't work. Perhaps this - 'Best Voice Provider' - our office staff do like it when the phones don't ring, nice and quiet. Definitely this - 'Best Infrastructure Innovation' - I don't think it needs an explanation, but for the justification field - changes are constantly being made with little info to the end user until we find things don't work - ie reports in Netsweeper - router config changed overnight and then the rest of the week has issues - replacement customer routers sent out with all the config on, with 1/2 of it missing And, just for giggles, this one 'Best Customer Experience' - Assuming no justification box required.
  2. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - 2 schools affected. Today. All of them. That's a pretty big subset.
  3. We have had this email as well. I do get it as the license server is hosted by them. But then, that was part and parcel of what we purchased and shouldn't be on us to now start funding this. If the system is too expensive to maintain then removing the online activation element would work well for both sides. We have v9 at one school and it's OK, now. Took a lot of working with the company to make it work properly. We have also trialed V10, twice, but it doesn't work the same or for most of our use case.
  4. This is what we did last week, rather than create huge, slow, backups, and kick everyone out of SIMS in all of our schools. And how we are doing it this week. Again.
  5. That does actually look really good.
  6. This? https://www.espo.org/smartbuy-300-page-150-sheets-shorthand-notebook-052752.html Others are available
  7. You sure? That seems somewhat over-spec'd
  8. So, loosely translated, RFO may or may not appear at some point to some people. No indication of an issue on the hub at the time, ringing in was greeted with busy tone. Another week with more performance issues and it's only Tuesday. Hopefully the rest of the week will be ok...
  9. We are still having issues. Things are ok for a bit then nosedive and pages won't load. We've had several issues reported this morning. Our switch monitoring (Aruba instant on) has emailed that sites are offline as it can't see the switches any more, the DfE signin page doesn't load properly, a SolarPV management system which we have just received login details for also won't load. I am assuming these are all related to the same issue. 1st line support have been contacted a number of times and I can't get further than that.
  10. We have a number of websites not working across a number of schools. Every time I ring, I get a naff holding statement, same as the on the hub - currently 'a fix will be implemented in 72 hours'. Vague, and doesn't help us or those we relay the same information to. Trying to speak to someone other than frontline support gets no-where.
  11. There is a font that needs installing, 'code 39.ttf' I've sent you a message
  12. Have you enabled the Deny filter? In Microsoft DHCP management, go to the filters tab, deny list - right click and select enable?
  13. This, as far as I can tell (I've checked emails and The Hub) hasn't been posted. I would quite like some feedback please that I can pass on to the schools before they come back next week as I know a lot had the start of the day disrupted last week.
  14. You make a good point. Will hold off for a few days!
  15. Yep. A week to update all those things that have already been update well in advance, twice. P*ss up and brewery comes to mind as well as many expletives.
  16. Thanks for this post. I have spent a couple of hours trying to figure out WTH is going on and why one school won't download updates. Logs saying it's trying to use a proxy but SOLUS3, any config files, NETSH, and a scan of the registry for the offending proxy address show nothing. I had to install the new SOLUS 3.12.59.5 instead of being able to deploy the SIMS Spring which has annoyed me tonight as it is, then the new software is looking at some legacy settings key rather than what it's being told to do. Hope this helps someone else in the future! Thanks again
  17. The existing one expires 24th May 2022. A new certificate was released start of April which lasts until some point in the year 2072. Or rather, did. The new, new one is less that that. I didn't save it anywhere useful earlier but I think it was good for ten years.
  18. In relation to Talk Straights new web filtering certificate, and in a bid to prevent some of you from wasting their week updating policies and devices etc, like I just have across all our schools, the below has been posted on Talk Straights hub this afternoon: "It has been brought to our attention that the certificate linked in the previous update was deployed with outdated and potentially insecure encryption. In this case SHA1. Unfortunately, this means that we have had to issue a new certificate with the correct SHA256 encryption and any customers that have proactively deployed the certificate will need to replace it."
  19. Has an ASM Administrator accepted the new Terms and conditions released last week? Behavior being experienced would potentially suggest not, according to https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203063
  20. All 11 of our sites have had issues since Friday afternoon where a site will lose connectivity for 2-10 minutes. The backup line does not kick in. Reporting the issues has not helped, and I have been reporting every instance that I've noticed. Communcations are, as always, terrible and when I tried to ring earlier, couldn't even get through to someone in connectivity issues department, just went to answerphone. I finally spoke to someone earlier in the Filtering/Firewall who hinted at a problem being fixed tonight, and disabling VRRP between our main and backup connections should temporarily alleviate the issue. I have since found a closed article on the TalkStraight Hub from last Thursday: "Hello, We are extending our BGP to additional routers in our network this evening, no impact is expected however the entire network is deemed AT RISK. This is in preparation for various other network improvements including throughput and additional peering. " I would say, it did have an impact, and has had an impact for the last few days.
  21. We had a problem years ago similar to this - fixed it by putting sims.ini and connect.ini in to peoples home folders in a subfolder called Windows eg H:\windows\
  22. Have you tried turning it off and on again?
  23. Bouncing up and down more than my yo-yo. AGAIN
  24. Did you have any problems getting the older 2nd gen boards to work on Win 10 1909? We have BSODs and there is a problem with those and Win10 1909 onwards. There's a related problem with the 300 boards too which require a firmware upgrade (v8.10 seems to be latest) available here: https://support.prometheanworld.com/article/1038
