The current url for ours (which I assume is the same for others) is https://cpanel.custweb03.vws.ifl.net/, but depending on how long ago you last accessed yours you'll need to note that they're no longer using Parallels Plesk as the control panel software, instead they're now using cPanel which may present a new learning curve.

Well, in the case of D505's, as long as they have the max 2GB RAM and given a large-ish 5400rpm hd (and you can justify the cost of the upgrades which most peeps won't), they'll run 7 well enough for those users who don't do anything too strenuous on them and extends the life until we can afford to replace them. I suppose we should retire & chuck them, but I find it difficult to throw away anything that's still serviceable. @leachim I'm sorry it didn't work. I've managed to do this several times successfully so I'm not sure what has happened in your case. At this point, it might be worth running System Restore to put the Laptop back to the state it was beforehand and maybe trying again?

Unfortunately, the Intel 855GM isn't supported under Windows 7 therefore there is no driver for it. There was however limited support for it in Vista with both Microsoft and Intel supplied XDDM drivers so there's some hope yet. I've had some success on Dell Latitude D505's with this graphics chipset - this involves editing the Standard VGA driver (so that windows doesn't see this as a "better" driver than the one I had installed) and installing a Vista driver. Here are 2 guides which may (or may not) help you. The first link is the guide I've used which I've had success with. The second guide looks like it might work also but requires a copy of Vista in order to extract the driver. If it wasn't so far, I'd go for it.

Our student desktops are redirected to a locally stored folder which contains a standard set of shortcuts and is marked as read-only to students. We have a master network share and a script which copies this (and Start Menu) to the local folder during each windows startup which ensures we can change the desktop easily if need-be. Also worth looking at Software Restriction Policies which you can also use to set which folders students can have access to. There is also a way to disable the Libraries in Windows 7 which may help too, as this will then allow you to only provide shortcuts to areas you want students to access.

I only managed about 9 gig before it cut me off. Annoying since I was using my home connection which took hours to get to that point - next time i'll use the connection at work.

You could try a different network driver (or driver version?) in ghost as we have had a similar problem in the past where uploads on our HP desktops (with Broadcom ethernet adapters) were stopping at 11% and although we had what we thought was the correct driver selected, it didn't work and selecting the one we didn't think it would be actually solved the issue. Occasionally, adding your own drivers from the vendor's website sometimes even improves network throughput.

You need to look at the Security audit logs on your DCs - more specifically the Failure entries as this will tell you which computer is locking the account out. I had one very recently where a user account was added to the Credential Manager on a non-domain PC allowing the user to print from that machine. We have a password policy which changes the password every 90 days, of course the one on the standalone didn't get changed locking that user out every 5 minutes.

Join the club - mine on a good day is about 4Mb Download / 512k Upload. A colleague of mine lives too far away from any BT exchange and therefore gets about 384k Download. Terrible really.

Nope, It's a fresh install. I might just try reinstalling in case something odd happened during the install. I also noticed while testing 8.1 that this behaves the same way too, but that's probably due to a change they've made to it.

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the behaviour of the Start Menu/Screen/TIFKAM so that when I install new Programs, their shortcuts appear afterwards in the Menu rather than having to pin them manually? I've noticed that Server 2012 does this by default but Windows 8 relies on me to add them in myself everytime I install something new. Thanks.

I've found for all the W8 images i've rolled out so far, the November 2012 Update Rollup is required before that GPO is able to change the lock screen.

I think the server needs a restart - it's been lagging like heck but i've been putting up with it. It finally came to an end when I went to Twilight and the server kicked me. It's now showing "Communication Error" when I try to reconnect.

Yes, we've bought most of our HP Procurve switches from them. Pricing is very good but not too good to be true. I'd recommend them.

Linux version here, running on an old-ish VXL Thin Client (a proof of concept for one of the Primary Schools we support which never fully happened). I can't knock it, its been running non-stop no issues since I set it up a year ago. I used to run the Windows version for a little while but odd stability issues forced me to look at alternatives.

I applied the registry "workaround" in that KB article to a room which for weeks, was getting said domain trust relationship error. It has stopped as a result which I'm over the moon about. The KB article indeed mentions security risks which I'm not overly happy about exposing the PCs to, but at least it's stopped the constant emails and calls about why the PCs are having marital problems.

Yes I have. The odd thing is though, I connected a GregTech machine to a storage bus the second time around so i'm not sure what happened originally. On another note, I can't quite fathom why I used a Storage bus when I knew I wanted Import buses instead.
