To be fair to BayTek, they're very good and they'll have an engineer out within a few hours. However, the engineer we have (who also lives quite locally which is handy) is rather too often out fixing our Canon photocopiers as they always seem to be breaking down.

Yup. We have a support contract but no idea whether that includes software upgrades or not.

We have it installed here and to echo what some have said, it's not particularly that great and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Support is about average although in the whole time we've had it (5-ish years) we've still got 2 outstanding issues they've yet to provide any solution to. For instance, the web portal often crashes and IIS needs restarting on a regular basis. Much like @Meldrew above, PSF thinks this is Microsoft's fault. When we last spoke to someone at Microsoft about the issue, they came to the conclusion that it's a fault with the way PSF have coded their interface between the software and IIS. Nethertheless, there's been no resolution to this, at least until someone stops playing ping pong. Next one is with Document Emailer. PS Financials uses this as a way of emailing various documents/notices to suppliers when orders are processed. However, unlike a number of programs I've used prior that require a SMTP server and a random email address to send from, this requires a physical email account to send from which is fine in a way except the software is very picky about the account you use. Basically, we've tried a number of accounts which have worked then failed to work bar the one we're using now and all of these have been our own user accounts from various members (past and present) of our IT Support team and Support have yet to resolve the issue nor tell us what is required of an email account for it to work. We worked on the assumption at one point that an email profile required pairing with a user account with Domain Admin privileges but this turns out not to be the case at all.

Just to give this some closure, the majority of cards produced with the AR946x and 956x chipsets tend to be 2.4GHz as are the ones in some of the laptops we have (we've recently swapped out Atheros cards in 20 HP laptops with Intel ones as the performance was horrible) though as you said, the option for 5GHz is only there if vendor chooses to enable it within the firmware but more often than not it isn't!

Have you tried using Wireshark to try and pinpoint where the requests are being sent to, or originating from?

Surprisingly well, it started life on NT 4.0 (before my time as I was just starting College by then) and much like yours has progressed through every Windows Server version (bar 2016) and still works perfectly fine to this day. It did see a restore from backup when we were hit with the Conficker Virus circa 2010. It survived it but I thought it best to restore sysvol from a backup we had prior to that. A former line manager did comment a few times that we should probably rebuild it from scratch after a number of occasions where some Group Policies wouldn't run under certain circumstances, but it did transpire that due to some of the cheap hardware we used to buy and my inexperience regarding certain features in Group Policy, it was never an issue with how aged or messy (at the time) our Domain happened to be.

It was me attempting to log in, and then one of my powerline adapters dropped out simultaneously oddly enough which made me think it was just me.

We've had a large number of the Kingston drives. They've been really good bar 3 which didn't necessarily fail, but the Lifetime SMART value drops to 1% which trips SMART on the connected PC. However, this wouldn't necessarily stop us from buying their drives in future as when we contacted Kingston, they confirmed that there was a batch of drives with this bug in the firmware and that it was fixed in drives newer than a certain date, also they were more than happy to replace any which exhibited this fault. As for other makes, Sandisk I've had 3 different models fail on me with no warning at all, but I've had no issues with Crucial's drives however. I've never had the M4, but I have both a M550 and a RealSSD C300 which is still going strong.

I disagree slightly with one point there - My Dad's early 80's Fisher MT-30R turntable (which I'm now using BTW) has a straight tone arm and in all the years it's been in use, it hasn't damaged any of his (or my) records. However, it does have the anti-skate and counter-balance which when set up properly does indeed help to prevent damage I find.

Yeah, this is the splash screen which is displayed either when the screen resolution is below a certain size (1024x768 I think) or when one/both of the following files are missing: bootres.dll & bootres.dll.mui. I also have a feeling there's a flag that can be set in the boot configuration which also allows this one to be displayed instead of the usual.

They're owned by Toshiba nowadays. With the original OCZ drives, I found that once they sorted the firmware out, the drives were actually rather good; I still have 2 Agility 3's in active use with no signs of failing (not that you get much warning anyhow). That said, it's still a bit of a gamble and with other brands which have shown to be more reliable, it's probably not worth buying OCZ drives unless you're not at all bothered about losing data nor contacting for a warranty replacement.

Phew, I thought for a moment it was offline due to something I did (I set up a spawner.)
