Yes X-13. a lack of power could cause booting issues. We had a suite here that had issues with the PCs freezing, more so when the room was warmer in the summer. Upgrading the PSUs eradicated the issues. I wouldn't have thought that would be the case with new PCs though.

There is a later version of the BIOS F43. One of the fixes seems to indicate it a power issue. It might be worth updating it again.

There will be a metal cover secured with some screws and under there will be the psu and control board.

Jobos, get the back off and take a look. I'm using one i repaired over a year ago and it's been no trouble since.

I have 4 17" monitors. Its usually the caps that fail in the Dell monitors, it might be worth having a look as the last couple i repaired were easy.

The Tenda stuff I've come across has been cheap home routers. They did the job but not sure I'd want one of their switches.

The OP was saying that the customer service rep was not covering the warranty as there was no recovery partition on the drive. If a drive fails then the customer can't run the diagnostics. Dell have similar software on their drives but will happily accept it when you run the hard drive diagnostic software from the manufacturer and give them the error code.

The samsung customer service rep clearly didn@t have a clue. Hard drives fail. How are you supposed to run the diagnostics on a failed drive?

If your mechanic has qualifications then you can be assured he's done some maths to get it. We covered both physics type maths covering acceleration, volume, mass etc and also electrical maths V=I/R etc. The only time i remember using maths in the job was working out tappet shim sizes and clearance on a diesel engine.

The tricky bit is separating the broken glass from the delicate AMOLED screen. The expensive quote i imagine factors in a new screen, where as the cheap one is just replacing the glass which costs about £12.

@Flatpackhamster It depends on the job, if I'm hitting a spanner with a hammer then i want it to be Snap-on not some cheap no name spanner that might break and injure me. But then a Snap-on spanner is guaranteed for life, never becomes obsolete and isn't a pain to configure. The point i was trying to make was that anything that stimulates learning should be encouraged not just IT solutions. IT on its own doesn't guarantee better learning it still requires engaging and interesting teachers and teaching methods. I have witnessed to many "create a document about subject x" lessons where the kids copy and paste the first article they find on the internet then spend more time either chatting or playing with fonts and colours. There are far to many posts on here where a tech is asking what to do with the pile of iPads that has just been given to them. That to me is buying the tool then looking at a way to use it. It's the wrong way around.

Anything that helps kids to engage and learn should be encouraged, that can be a teaching style, a favorite writing pen or even a piece of IT. As an engineer (motor vehicle before i was an IT man), i look at the job and pick the appropriate tool, not pick the tool and try and find it a use.

I had similar problems with our music suite. I fitted some £5 pci sound cards and ASIO4ALL drivers and the problem went away. This was 4 or 5 years ago and we are now updating the PCs to include an ASUS Xonar sound card with Asio support.
