    I wouldn't use a green hard drive for Windows. Have you done a memory check with memtest ? To disable write caching, go to device manager, right click on your drive and select properties, then click the policies tab.

    I've taken the hard drive out and recovered the required files. I have done the SMU reset, but no change. I was trying to get the Mac to boot. I don't have the installation disc, i will have to see if i can locate one from somewhere.

    I am looking at a G5 Power Mac that won't boot. It chimes and then sticks on a white screen with the apple logo. It will go into terminal mode. Any ideas where to start diagnostic wise ? Or any ideas as to what is wrong with it ? thanks Michael

    I tried that laserblazer but it uses capitals to identify the fonts and i don't have any in the examples of the text i have.

    The 5400 spin hard drives seems to cripple Atoms, I'd like to see one with an SSD instead.

    It's not trying to do an over the air update is it ? Just a wild stab in the dark, i know ICS was supposed to be coming to the Tab.

    I had some training on Tuesday and we used a Kewtech KT71. Good bits of kit. The trainer also told us these were the cheapest people but i haven't checked otherwise. Kewtech PAT Testing Kits

    Ontrack, i've used them in the past. Not cheap, but then if it can be recovered then they can do it. No idea on 1TB but i paid just shy of £1000 to recover a 40Gb 5 years ago.

    I'm not sure if they changed the OS but in 5.0 there are no proxy settings.

    Novatech so a similar PC, monitor mounts on the back. But they use a standard motherboard rather than a Dell one. They have a cover that sits over the cable connectors on the PC and have a bolt that goes through the desk for security.

    We have the same problem. Dell laptops have always had issues where the screws come loose. This isn't normally a problem and causes no damage. However when the screws that hold the lid hinge and the screw either side of the screen become loose this introduces play which then stresses the plastic and it snaps.

    Does the Toshiba give a code of any sort after you try a password ?

    I've seen failing hard drives pass diagnostic checks before, might be worth trying another hard drive to see if the problem continues.

    I guess you've tried removing the key and pressing the rubber bit underneath ? I've rolled up a tiny ball of paper and put it in the rubber before, i guess the key wasn't quite making contact.

    I emailed Toshiba when i discovered the same thing. They confirmed it, but couldn't offer a work around. I suggested they issued a BIOS update, but got no reply.
