About bigfoot780

  1. This laptop sometimes will not boot and the bios boot menu states the hard drive has failed. Intermittently this occurs. I have managed to install win7 x64 and rebooted several times sometimes working sometimes not. I also get a fair bit of pausing in WIndows. I have run a full scan of the Hard Disk and its not failing. I have updated the BIOS and reset it. Anybody came across this issue before?
  2. Windows 8 = Vista 2.0 (Horrible, just give a GPO to turn that start screen off) WIndows 7 = Windows XP (moan about the changes since the last version but genrally OK)

  4. Why the move from Smoothwall?
  5. Started studying. Time + money in short supply but would love to finish it. Though with a new OS every 3 years hard to keep up.
  6. Are you trying to install to a Intel Raid? See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2466753
  7. Doh this is to hide the message about the board not being connected. Sorry.
  8. USB stick would just be used to get work off the xp machine. But good point. I only made it in anticipaton of the new curriculum focused on programming. Though the vm would be on the C Drive which is protected by deep freeze.
  9. I've made a XP VM in virtualbox and enbale the rdp server in virtualbox. The students can then rdp in it 127.0.0.1 . Take off file permissions for .rdp files. Slight delay with usb sticks.
  10. Start>Run>appwiz.cpl Find Microsoft Office 2010 Click change Then Add/Remove Features Office Shared Features > Proofing Tools> English Proofing Tools> Right click on Spelling and Grammar Checkers. Then right click Not Available. Click Contnue.
  11. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SMART Technologies\SMART Board Drivers\Board Tools\ "noboard"=dword:00000001 I think thats it. by the way Smart Drivers, Notebook 11 is out now.
  12. We've had this. Particular when the PDF is open in a browser. Close and re-open seems to fix it. Yes Adobe Reader is terrible.
  13. We are looking at Google Apps for education. Particularly docs. We currently waiting for our domain to be upgraded to the full education version. Can you disable Google Drive and/or prevent files such as exe/vbs/bat from being uploaded? Also is their a way of changing the email address for users so its not the Google apps domain but rather our exchange server.
  14. Security Now! Transcript of Episode #349 Shame there isn't a table.
  15. I'm currently trying to sort this out. Currently I have disabled libraries just using a registry fix. This is for 64 bit. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}\ShellFolder] "Attributes"=dword:b090010d [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}\ShellFolder] "Attributes"=dword:b090010d However I have also gone into each application and saved a file to the home drive for the default user profile. then cleared the file from any recent lists e.g Office 2010. This seems to work. If anyone knows a better way for this to happen please let me know.
