Is it possible to rename SharePoint 2013's storage to something a bit easier for end-users to understand? When have on-premises SharePoint and the storage area was originally called SkyDrive Pro, abbreviated to SkyDrive. This was confusing because Microsoft's publicly available service was also called SkyDrive. Then with SP1, they re-branded it to OneDrive for Business, abbreviated to OneDrive. 'Excellent news' I though, 'that will save confusion'. But then I realised the publicly available SkyDrive has also undergone re-branding, it's now called OneDrive too! This is a nightmare for our teachers who use a personal OneDrive/SkyDrive to understand. 'I uploaded a file to my OneDrive, but when I click on OneDrive in school it's not there'. I have to explain that there are actually two OneDrive's, both called OneDrive, but containing different files in two different places. Has anyone been able to rename it without having to hack around with SharePoint too much?

We've got some 2500 students with Live@edu accounts. I have had a few reports of students working in the live versions of both Excel and Word returning to their Skydrives to find their documents haven't saved. This is not something that I have been able to recreate. Has anybody else experienced this? Is there a common symptom for documents that don't save? Any advise will be welcome. Thanks,

I'm currently looking into the use of Skydrive Pro for use in a school environment, while we are still on the 2010 version of 365 waiting for the 2013 version I want to clear a few things up.... Can SkyDrive be configured for each users redirected home folder so effectively they have a direct synced copy of their my documents in their SkyDrive cloud area? How is the above managed, certain requirements such as roaming profiles? GPO's available? Does SkyDrive pro support SSO?

Our disciplinary process here at the college involves restricting student's access to the Internet for one week when a breach of the computer usage agreement is committed. This was achieved by adding our students to a policy in our content filter that allowed our internal IP range but nothing external. However since migrating to Live@edu this was no longer applicable. What we needed to do was add some additional domains so that access to live@edu can also happen. I raised a support call with Microsoft for a comprehensive list of associated domains and they came back with one...*live*. Not so. Below is the list of all domains I've allowed so that Live@edu can be served up. *live* *passport* *wlxrs* *microsoft* *bing* *outlook* *atdmt* *msecnd* Without allowing all of these, the page will either render very badly or most likely not at all. I was particularly annoyed at having to allow bing.

Hello, We have Office 365 for Education and using the emails for both staff and students (Plan A2). With the latest upgrade a few weeks ago SkyDrive started to appear. So far we have only tested this with a few members of the admin staff but would like to start rolling SkyDrive out for students and staff. Alot of Post 16 students have been assigned a Microsoft Surface RT so would like to get SkyDrive Pro syncing through this. However I have a few questions about skydrive/sharepoint online in education. File Extensions - Is it possible to block certain file types from the users personal sky drive folder (e.g. exe, bat, cmd files)? Don't want students to be able to save scripts or executables to their storage area. AD/GPO Synchronisation - Are there any GPO out there to configure SkyDrive Pro (installed with MS office 2013 plus) so it automatically logs them into their Sky drive folder? We don't want this to sync with their home directory "yet", however we would like to look at the possibility of having user areas stored in 'the cloud' Bulk Management - Is there a way to roll out skydrive to users? Currently the user needs to log in and setup/upgrade their personal site in skydrive online. If anyone is currently using skydrive/sharepoint online/office 365 I would appreciate if you can tell me how you manage it/ what issues have occurred and what you want to see. Thank you, Will

With all the chit chat about who has the best service, I found this very comprehensive table that just shows facts, nothing more, nothing less. Hope this helps you decide which best suits you. (Source: From The Verge)
