  1. We compared CRB and Civica, and deciced to stick with Civica... big regret. If the choice comes down to CRB/Civica +1 CRB although pricier.
  2. We used to use our own SMTP, then it stopped working and I tried all sorts to fix it... Bromcom wouldn't help. So we ended up paying Bromcom to do it...
  3. Assuming you mean auto login to the apps? I don't use InTune but guessing I need to go down the route of it? Won't lie.. I don't fancy learning yet another system when the school is considering buying Android tablets instead of more iPads...... We currently use M365 login which is tied to the Apple portal so it logs in using their school logon details and ties to the Apple ID.
  4. Migrating to Bromcom, I don't even know if that is possible without Bromcom doing it? Unless you're talking about importing data in to an already migrated system? Otherwise, as far as I know it will need to be done by Bromcom.
  5. We had the same problem and after pushing quite a lot of work by the data manager and a few others... they saved..... about 5%. Our doc storage was pretty big.. I think about 200GB or so. It was the large PDFs that took the most.. some were like 30MB each... and 100 of them... bam 3GB. At the top of mmy head I think it was all manual labour work.. but is there a doc link checker within SIMs? I think there is? The ability to check which docs have been unlinked, take a backup and then delete those docs. I'm sure within SIMs there is a bunch of options available to archive/clear some stuff.
  6. We migrated from SIMs to Bromcom and didn't pay for extra data to go along with it. We kept a copy of the data, standard procedure really - backups and keep the server available for the WHAT IF scenario. My only tip is to make sure you have all the data checked and double checked and TRIPLE checked when you have the 'test migration'. We found certain bits of data didn't migrate over but only after it went live....
  7. Thank you, I feared it would be that way. Thanks again!
  8. There isn't any other web filter profiles, I've only got the new 1 setup. All fresh and newly setup and testing for a handful of students. I did try removing the other profiles to see if they were blocking it. Only other thing I can think of is 1:1 assigning, currently setup as a shared.
  9. Had to contact Mosyle support. I can't figure out why this Web Filtering profile won't deploy. I've gone through all the settings and it should just work fine.
  10. Thank you, this has actually helped point me in the right direction. The app is telling me "doesn't support this profile" so I'll have to go through and see why.
  11. I'm following the Lightspeed guide but not working. What exactly do you have setup through Mosyle to get it working? I've done the Web filtering config. Nothing happens on the iPad, even with the Relay app installed. This is what I've used and put in our own customer ID. Thank you!
  12. Sorry for the bump on this, but has anyone got this working with Mosyle MDM? Thank you
  13. Not to do with assets etc but we use Civica for cashless and a nightmare. We use irisassets for our asset stuff., As for Civica....... -very slow to get back to us -we get two types of IT support people: one brilliant or one awful. The awful one has a habit of breaking things and not fixing them, with the threat of 'this callout may cost'. -we upgraded the system and not to what was promised which I keep chasing... and getting no response -last time we organised the upgrade it took an age to get a response from anyone.... We were going to leave them but it would cost a lot of money which had already been spent elsewhere. Frankly.. I've had enough and we have been with them for many years.
  14. Ours is okay no issues, not since the problem last year.
  15. What benefits does it give? We currently use ParentPay and MCAS (MyChildAtSchool Bromcom) and School Cloud for evenings. Can it replace all 3? It integrates with other systems? Pros? Cons? Thank you!
  16. Sorry for bumping an old thread - we are looking at this Weduc Reach More Parents. Has anyone got experience with it?
  17. We use SignIn for visitors, this has been expanded for staff and students to use when leaving the site. We don't use the room booking systems etc, all that is within Outlook. I can't complain at SignIn, it is low cost and simply works. Pulls groups out of M365 and uses email notifications well enough.
  18. I've generally had a positive response from Bromcom support, I agree to stick most of the jobs high priority if you need it kind of done within 24 hours or so. Back when we had quite a lot of issues it wasn't often I had to wait a whole day for them to be resolved. One of my low priority jobs did get forgotten and I did a chase. As for being 'the rep can contact them' that isn't the fault of Bromcom..... they clearly tell schools only certain individuals are capable of contacting them.... We have about 4-5 people data manager/attendance depts plus me. My tips are: Always best to phone. Always make sure you have 3 reps (at least) able to contact support. Set to high priority if you want it done rather urgently.
  19. Unless you take legal action, parents know they don't need to pay. You can send the letters.. make the calls.. if the parent refuses - there is nothing more. Kids are kids.. some are bad.. some are rotten.. some don't care.. some find it funny.. some do it to look 'cool'.. the list is endless. We have damaged toilets often. Hell, we just failed our Ofsted and 95% of the entire report said behaviour. Even though our school doing a long list of things to try and fix it. If it wasn't for CCTV and the mobile ban, I fear it would be worse.. at least some kids and parents care about the repercussions of being caught. What hope do you have when some parents say things like "what can I do" when we tell them about the behaviour of their own child............
  20. We have CCTV toilets to cover damages and bullying. We're in the process of vape sensors. All legal measures have been covered and parents are certainly aware of it all and been in place for like... 15 years... well before my time. In all that, we've only had 1 gripe comment which was aimed at the mobile phone ban. We had accusations of "someone sitting watching CCTV to see my little Johnny on a phone and the cameras are in cubicles". Course this caused a huge uproar for 5 minutes. It got quickly corrected and they had to apologise for getting the wrong end of the stick. A staff member caught a child on their phone and asked to confiscate it, the child refused and walked away - clearly the kid didn't mention this part. The same old same old story. Just because the kid refused to hand in their phone which is a "human right to have and use" comment thrown at the very end of it all........... Our SBM is pretty well clued up on regulations and laws (he has experience). We are covered very well. As for the OP school. -Did they discuss this in a PTA meeting and parent forums etc? -Did they send out letters to parents that the school is considering CCTV in the toilets? -Did they update the CCTV policies? -Did they even attempt to reassure parents where the cameras are installed etc? Reading through the article "A lot of the concern revolves around who will have access to the footage from such a personal environment and how it will be monitored. There’s understandable worry about what could happen if this footage were to end up in the wrong hands, and whether we can trust the ‘blocking technology’ being used to obscure certain areas." Sounds like either the school hasn't provided enough information and setup discussions with parents OR parents haven't bothered to read it and screaming for the sake of it - the latter part does happen often.
  21. We use both but I was going to push for more M365 and walk away from Google. With a MAT coming, we will go to whatever they choose which looking at MATs in our area and likely to take us on it's about 4-2 for M365. One in particular seems to be pure Google only and everything Microsoft gone. Makes sense in sticking to one system for training purposes alone. One dept uses Google and another dept uses M365. Sometimes causes crossed wires - especially when people ask us for help. Either way, as I said with us joining a MAT we go the way of the wind.
  22. Yep! The mrs had two weekends away, 1 to Belgium and 1 to Cardiff. I'll give you 3 guesses as to which was the cheapest by far......... it was Belgium. Now, you add up the amount of people going which was about 9 of them.... that price difference grows.
  23. We migrated from SIMs to Bromcom at Easter if I remember rightly. It gave time for the staff to adapt. It isn't our busiest period - I would absolutely avoid doing this during January and September, they tend to be manic for us and staff. I led the whole thing and helped out the core users and day to day teachers. I pretty much dedicated all day every day to Bromcom to make sure everyone could do their job. Permissions had to be constantly tweaked for most users. We used the holiday time to make sure all the systems were synced with ParentPay/Wonde/Groupcall etc. Then MCAS users with parents and student portal accounts etc.
  24. Don't blame people for sticking with SIMs, can be a daunting task to change if you heavily rely on it like we did. We employ several staff to work on the MIS 5 days a week. We use most of the modules and getting staff to change is a task.. Still.. we jumped ship... but maybe because I was leading it... I did all the hard work and spent time with each person and went through SLT etc. Took quite a while and did the comparisons. Not sure I would want to do it again if we had to leave.. but if the MAT we join don't use Bromcom, we just have to change and I don't have to do anything else.
  25. Data manager is constantly complaining about these type of things and told to put it on the ideas page. She quite often misses SIMs...... and wants it back........
