It won't really work unless each teacher has their own iPad so that teacher is assigned to their own iPad. You could create a generic teacher account and assign that generic account to that teacher. I think you will need to do this and assign all classes to that one teacher.

Not sure if you have this setup correctly. You create a windows PE Boot image in MDT which you then import into WDS. When PXE booting the computer, it will download the Windows PE image from WDS and then MDT will run a wizard (depending on your MDT setup) which you will need to fill in some steps. It is possible to have WDS install an image directly onto the machine but this won't use any of MDTs task sequences. Are you PXE booting the Windows PE boot image from MDT? This is generated when you update the deployment share and will be in your \\Depoymentshare\Boot folder. I'm not familiar with Profile manager but MDMs work the same. It should just be a case of assigning the teacher to the Class in Profile Manager. The teacher needs to be assigned as a user to that iPad. Edu profiles are created automatically in the MDM and sent out based on the class information. Can you check in Profile Manager to see if the iPad is assigned to a user (the teacher?)

Yes and no. Surely it's in their interest to have a workflow that will work for all schools. By not doing anything, all schools will submit stuff differently meaning more chance of the exam board running into issues. Also, if it's not the exam boards problem, how come most other systems have a secure way of uploading material.

The teachers are more worried about getting the work marked on time or the exam board not passing on the encryption key to the markers (I guess they outsource the markers). Or markers not being able to understand how to decrypt a device.

How come exam boards don't seem to put encryption as a requirement? The exam board this is going to is massive with offices all over the world. I don't understand how they can't put in a simple procedure for this kind of stuff. I've passed this over to our DPO and Exams team. I told them to contact the exam board.

We need to send off some filmed drama coursework that will be sent to the exam board to externally verify the grades. They have said to send them over via Disk or USB stick. They haven't mentioned anything about encryption and don't offer a cloud upload service. How are other schools handling this? I guess the obvious answer is to encrypt the USB stick and give them to password to it?

For Jamf we paid around £6.50 per new IOS license, £5.50 for renewing IOS licenses we already had, and £13 for MacOS license. This is Jamf Pro in the cloud.

We've been using Jamf Pro for 7 years now to manage our IOS and MacOS devices. Most MDMs will do the same thing but some only support IOS devices. Jamf will do MacOS, TVOS and IOS and they always provide 0 day support for new releases. They also have decent support that is very helpful and an active community forum: jamfnation.

We've started using Chromebits and Chrome Sign Builder for our digital signage. You setup a Google Slides (powerpoint) and let it run on the Chromebit in kiosk mode. You can then share the Slides file with other users if you want them to be able to update it.

Yep, I think teaching the staff how the classroom app works will help. If they know it requires bluetooth and a student is showing as offline then their bluetooth is turned off. It's then up to the teacher to give a caution or bad behaviour point (what ever your school does).

We thought the same but it seems to stop any changes to bluetooth as a whole. So no pairing of new devices if it is restricted.

Yep, as soon as they turn Airplane mode off, Bluetooth will come back on if you have it restricted to on (the restriction is only to stop them changing it. So if you restrict it whilst Bluetooth is off, it will always be off). I hope Apple changes this. Another issue we had was if we enforced bluetooth, students couldn't pair their own bluetooth devices. This is the main reason we no longer use the restriction.

No, airplane mode is not currently controllable via an MDM (apple haven't made it available). Airplane mode also overrides the restriction to stop students changing their Bluetooth settings if you have Bluetooth settings enforced.

Not quite sure what you mean. We have a windows domain and use GCDS to sync our student/staff OUs to google to create them google accounts. They use pretty much everything for Google.

We're going through the same thing. I've not been too involved but I did get CC'd into this email reply: From the DfE's guidance: "The main examples of dual registration are pupils who are attending a pupil referral unit, a hospital school or a special school on a temporary basis It can also be used for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller children, but only when the pupil is known to be registered at another school during the session in question." Note the difference in that Guest students are on roll at only one school, attend lessons at another school but they have an admission number at their main school. Dual Registration has legal implications. A school cannot just choose to mark pupils as dual registered or not. The school ought to know which pupils are 'registered' (ie admitted and on roll) at their school. Guest students are NOT admitted or on roll at the school, they are on roll at another school, and only come to the school for lessons. So they are NOT dual registered as they have the ordinary single registration at their own school. Guest students will show in Lesson Monitor for lesson registers as they are timetabled for lessons but will not show in Attendance as their statutory registration is the responsibility of the school they are registered at and they have no admission number. Guest students will not show as 'on roll' for PLASC/Census either. For a pupil to be dual registered, both schools have to come to an agreement that, because of the special nature of a particular pupil's needs, the pupil can be on roll at both schools, with the legal and financial implications this has. It is usually a limited term arrangement, eg for one year, until the pupil is able to attend one school full time or in the case of a Partnership in which some lessons are taught at different sites. As of September 2011, the way schools should record attendance and absence for ‘Dually Registered’ pupils was changed. Attendance code D (Dual Registered) is not counted in the School Census as an attendance. Each school will only need to record the attendance and absence for the sessions the pupil is required to attend at their school. Each school will use code D to record all of the sessions that the pupil is due to attend at the other school.

Just heard that the website is brand new as in a couple of days old. I guess they migrated to a new hosting company and they've not setup the certificate properly.

Are you able to check the JCQ website: https://www.jcq.org.uk/ Getting invalid/insecure certificate. Inspecting the certificate shows that they're using a self signed certificate and isn't for their domain?

This would be nice. We currently have one student that listens to a CD for their listening exam but also word processes. I've given her the option to minimise ExamWritePad but would be a little easier to select different programs from the task bar.

Yea, it took me 4 attempts to get to someone with this solution. Everyone else just basically said re-install adobe cc or just re-package acrobat and re-deploy which didn't work. I had to uninstall the whole adobe cc suite and re-install. This would take a couple of hours per machine as we deploy a lot of the adobe apps. I went back and said it isn't possible to do this as we have over 500 machines.

Yea, I had to go to chat 4 times before I got someone that helped me. What issue are you getting? We suddenly had Adobe Acrobat asking our users to sign in even though we use Device Licenses. Nothing changed, it just suddenly started asking people to sign in and wouldn't let users skip it. Eventually got someone from adobe tell me about a reg key we can deploy to by-pass this.

Yea, we've filled in both places now. The Sage support wasn't very helpful. Had to find it ourselves.
