I would use this PC for myself so I can finally play some modern games again. My current PC has a 10 year old CPU in it. Surprised it's held up this long. I've only been able to play some current games due to a friend lending me a graphics card he doesn't use anymore! Tried playing Path of Exile but my PC bottlenecks on the cpu when there's lots going on. This PC would allow me to play games without stutter and even challenge my son who has a better PC than me at the moment (and he's 9 years old!).

Works okay here. Our GPO for locking screens has three settings: Enable Screen Saver: Enabled Password Protect Screen Saver: Enabled Screen Saver Timeout: 300 seconds. Maybe you have another GPO over riding this setting. Probably worth running a GPresult on the machines that don't seem to be working.

We found a couple of applications didn't work when the computer thought it didn't have internet. I think one of them was Google Drive for Desktop. We fixed it by changing some registry keys. I think what fixed it for was was increasing the hop count and enable active probing. Can you purchase licenses for this app via ASM and push it out via your MDM? Jamf has an option to make an app managed if it currently listed as unmanaged.

I'd imagine calling a company that deals with fibre out to repair it would be quicker.

I believe there is wiggle room from different suppliers as I was able to get different pricing by committing to 3 years with our supplier (academia). Licensing is now based on students numbers. So for every 4 student licenses you purchase you get 1 staff license. We ended up paying £3 per student license. 2000 student licenses gave us 500 staff licenses.

It's defiantly possible as we have our safe guarding leads listed on each unit at our different sites with their picture. The guy that does it for us isn't in this week. Might be quicker to contact Inventry support to see if they can point you in the right direction.

I've not found a great way to do this and wish there was a simpler way of doing this but you can run the Remote Update Manager that should be installed as part of adobe installation. The file path should be: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE_Enterprise\RemoteUpdateManager\RemoteUpdateManager.exe" The main issue I've come across with this is it only checks for updates up to the current version installed. What I mean by this is if you have Adobe CC 2021 installed, it will only install updates for 2021 and won't update to 2022.

I think a second hand wii from CEX are quite cheap these days and so are most of the games. The Wii sports, Mario Kart and Mario Galaxy games are quite fun. This is what my son was playing around 6.

If they're installing an SSL Certificate manually then that will have to trust it in the Certificate Trust Settings: Settings > General > About > Certificate Trust Settings. It does but exams are stressful enough for both the students and us staff setting them up so I like to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible. We've had students in the past not save even when we've told them to. I've tried more manual approach in the past and it just caused more stress due to people not reading instructions. The setup I currently have going is very autonomous and means less call outs.

Exams are such a pain and take up so much of my time now we need so many laptops with Word processing or listening files on. I spend a lot of time setting up exam laptops to login automatically from fresh boot. The laptops login to an exam account and boots into ExamWritePad automatically. This software forces them to put in their student details and forces them to save (as well as auto save every 30 seconds). Doing all this takes time to setup but saves a lot of hassle with invigilators not knowing what to do.

Yes, we're seeing this offline issue a lot more recently. The fix is to restart the iPad(s) by holding down the power button and home button together. Most of the time it's just the teacher that needs to do it but every now and then a student iPad will need to restarted too. It's possible it has something to do with teachers not "Ending Class" when they're finished using Apple Classroom. It's as if there is a session being held open and the restart closes this session.

We're also using scomis for our support and hosting.

The new rule for pedestrians makes sense but I feel in busy city centres this is just going to cause more traffic. On our main roads in the city centre there are 100s of people walking a long the streets so if they have right of way now it's just going to slow cars down even more. Some cars may have to wait several minutes before they find a spot to turn into the road with lots of other cars waiting behind. Maybe this is the reason for doing it. To try stop people using their cars in city centres.

How long do the backup files last? Do they automatically get deleted after a certain time period? Do they get deleted when a new exam starts?

Is there a GPO that is trying to be applied but failing. I believe a GPOs timeout period is 15 mins so if after 15 mins it hasn't applied, it will carry on logging in. Might be worth checking the GPOs that are applied to the machines and removing them one by one to see if it gets better. Check Event logs to see if there's anything in there.

Yes, it turned out to be uBlock Origin blocking it. Had to turn uBlock off to make the link work.
