  1. We don't use anything currently, which I appreciate isn't a massively helpful reply to your question! I have, however, been asked to look into a solution so I'll let you know if I come up with any good answers. The only thing we have already to support this is our InVentry console, but this requires a lot of admin and the students would all have to sign into the clubs via the tablet in reception which doesn't work from a logistical POV.
  2. Has anyone here edited the default graphics on the InVentry Console home screen? When we had the kit installed a few weeks ago the engineer said I could just replace the PNG files in the root directory and it would automatically update on next reboot. I haven't tried this yet, but was wondering if anyone else had dabbled and if they had any nice ideas for how it could look? I'm a part time/spare time graphic designer so I can't look at the default home page without the Primary School style blocky buttons hurting my very soul!!
  3. Yes, tried all of those. AC auto power-on isn't enabled on the boards as our site team like to turn off at the wall over the holidays and I don't want them all booting up when the power is switched back on. Thanks though.
  4. I have a Viewsonic IFP7560 that one of my teachers has managed to 'power lock' using a combination of keys on the remote. I can find lots of suggestions on Google for other models, but none of them disabled the power lock and with it on I can't turn the board on! I've raised a ticket with Viewsonic but still no reply, so I thought I would ask on the off chance someone else has had the same problem.
  5. After a very brief skim read through this thread there seems to be a lot of trial and error (obviously) to go through. Has anyone documented the process for their own use or to share and wouldn’t mind pinging over to me? I’ll trawl through the 6 pages if needed but just being the classic forum leech!!
  6. Are all staff in the same OU? If so, what restriction level have you got set for them? https://support.google.com/a/answer/6212415?hl=en
  7. I know I could search the internet high and low for suggestions, but I was wondering if there are any settings, app-level or global, that you have discovered on your travels that you would consider essential for your Google Apps. From my own experience there have definitely been a few things we have found out the hard way! I’ve included a couple of examples below to kick things off: 1) Release Track https://support.google.com/a/answer/172177?hl=en The default setting for when users receive new features is scheduled release, at least 1 week after release. With Google adding new features all the time (particularly to Meet) I have changed this to ‘rapid release’ to get the latest updates asap. I have had several colleagues asking me why/how we managed to get [feature] before their friend’s school which always makes you look good! 2) Google Meet - Telephony https://support.google.com/meet/answer/9518557?hl=en-GB This is a classic example of something that I wish I had come across as a pre-emptive strike rather than finding out the hard way. We had a student who was having technical issues so she dialled the (US) number on the Google Meet page on all her lessons for a whole week and ran up a huge (£2,000+) phone bill! This was as much the fault of the mobile provider IMO for waiting until the bill was this massive before contacting, and they have subsequently waved the bill, but we have now turned this feature off to avoid any further dramas. There’s dozens more examples I could share and I may well do if there’s an obvious demand but I’m interested to know what you have discovered on your travels and what you think would be an essential setting change for all schools using Google Apps. I look forward to hearing your responses
  8. What did you do to resolve this? Had the same problem!
  9. After battling with IPEVO over their Visualiser software not working on laptops, I’ve realised the issue actually lies with any devices connected via wi-fi. Are there any known settings or exclusions I need to create from my watchguard to get it to work?
  10. I remotely installed Google File Stream before Christmas and sent an email letting everyone know it exists, what it does etc. so of course now it's March people are finally trying to use it and ask me questions!! The one problem I am having is it updates itself REGULARLY and the ridiculous directory means that the desktop icon I have pushed out to staff is redundant within days and I am having to constantly create a new shortcut. Google in their infinite wisdom have included the version number as a folder in the path e.g. C:\Program Files\Google\Drive File Stream\36.0.18.0 so of course whenever the version number changes they end up with a white, useless desktop icon... If anyone has had similar issues or has any bright ideas as to how to get around this I would be eternally grateful.
  11. I've often contemplated some elaborate setup involving extension leads, a wheely trolley and a load of cable ties to create a portable assembly setup. Could have laptop, projector, speakers all set up and plugged into the extension so all the end user has to do is plug in one power lead and wheel the trolley to where they want it.
  12. It didn't surprise me that I may need an update but I have downloaded the latest AMDX/ADML files from google and it's still not showing
  13. I may be going mad or missing something really obvious here but I can't see Force Enable Spellcheck Languages where you have described?!!!
