Gotta love Portable Apps. I've got XAMPP and Eclipse (both portable) on mine, allowing me to code wherever I am. Wonder if they do a portable Visual C# Express?

Paddy and Murphy are walking down the street, Paddy with a box of donuts he has just bought. Murphy says "Paddy, if I can guess how many donuts you have in that there box, can I have one?" Paddy says "Murphy, me old mucker, me old marra, if you can guess how many donuts are in this here box, you can have them both" Murphy says "Ok, four?!" -

We're just researching into get a big photocopier in each block, to run off biometrics (fingerprints). One of our colour printers costs around £500 to replace the toners (not including drum etc), and we're getting fed up. The biggest issue for us is space, management, and security. We have a few cubby holes we could put it, and could quite easily setup a CCTV camera to monitor it, but who manages it? If it's in a shared area who keeps it stocked with paper?

Looks good. It could look better with slightly rounded corners for your side modules. Also, not keen on the red against blue background in your header - maybe introduce a middle colour to make it look easier on the eyes. Perhaps a nice shade of yellow or white even. Just ideas.

can i build my own CC4 Server?
Hightower replied to computers_r_the_enemy's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Now I have my head screwed on, here comes a semi useful answer. Be careful when purchasing hardware not bought from RM, that is to be used on a CC3/4 network. We bought a HP server last year as a replacement. When we got the bill for the commissioning of it, it was more than expected because the hardware didn't come 'configured ready to go'. CC3 especially is very picky for things like making sure the 'WINDOWS' folder is actually called 'WINNT' and other such nonsense. Hope that helps. It certainly helped me feel better -

You're completely right. You have my most sincerest apologies. I'm having one of those days, and although it's no excuse we all need somewhere to vent. Sorry you got the brunt of it -

Ah well, sorry I can't give any advice on a PC upgrade as I'm still running a Dell from 6 years ago (not that its been turned on it 2 years). In fact, anybody want to buy a 6 year old Dell?

The only PC upgrade you'll ever need (for gaming - not much good for Office)

Would love to give this a go, but would have to be a Saturday for me.

Surely if they fall for this kind of scam, that's one of the reason they are having financial difficulties
-
I understand that, but where is the line drawn? Writing a script to help them? Fine, if that's what they want. But researching what is ultimately a job for the office?

Removing a file that doesnt want to be removed!!
Hightower replied to Little-Miss's topic in How do you do....it?
That software I linked to is quite good. Any files it errors on when you try to delete will prompt the software to load. You'll be met by a screen displaying exactly which processes are using the said file. If you 'unlock' the file it'll stop the process, and allow you to delete the file. Experience locked files at times when package building so this comes in very handy. -

I use Download Unlocker 1.9.0 - FileHippo.com for this. Works a treat. -

I'm sure schools around you would be willing to let you 'come and see' how it all works in the flesh. If not, how about getting RM out to do a demo (just tell them you are thinking of buying).
-
You missed out the silly prices they charge for doing that! Seriously though, you have RM about right. They have many little packages that install on workstations, and a few bits here and there on the servers to make it easier to manage. My experience of it is that when it works properly, it makes life bliss. When it throws a hissy fit you might as well wave your nights and weekends good bye.

To be honest, I can't see bigger tyres increasing speed by 14 mph. 2 or 3 mph is believable, but 14 just seems far fetched.
