  1. We got ours on fine, all except the Sound Drivers. Just installed these manually after they built, but we only have a couple of these so wasn't too much effort. Wouldn't like to do it for a class full of these. Yet another example of how outdated CC3 networks are, in a world of modern technology. I'm in the process of creating a test Vanilla network. Can't wait to turn to the boss and say "you know how RM did this, well look what vanilla does too, and it's easier"
  2. We've had an Epson EMP-74 blow a lamp, and we've decided that it is now time to replace rather than buy a new lamp. Can anybody recommend a projector to replace this, at a decent price? It's to fit a 70 inch board, and the throw is about 100 inches. It will be mounted to the ceiling (universal clamp). Any recommendations folks?
  3. France twice, once for a week, and once for a couple of days. Then to Copenhagen for 6 days - that trip was awesome. Also went somewhere over the lakes with a primary school. Never been offered in my current school - think they are a bit more uptight about those sorts of things.
  4. Just doing a bit Googling and I've found this. It's cheap enough to buy and try, but thought it safer to post up here first: User country check Is this the part I'm looking for to replace the mouse buttons on a laptop touchpad? There's no images so I'm not sure for definate - although I think I have the right part number.
  5. Just had it reported that a staff laptop is having troubles with the left mouse button. It works, but it's loose. It's a Toshiba Sat Pro L10 or L20 (I forget which). Is it a case of replacing the trackpad on these? If so, anybody know where I can get one from to fit myself?
  6. Shouldn't the builders be suggesting what bricks and mortar to use instead?!
  7. But of course we're all upper class on here right? @Mattx - if you need a hand drinking them anytime give me a shout. I'm from a mining family and we aren't picky. @danrhodes - if you have any of that old pond water left, give me a shout. As I said to Mattx, I'm not picky.
  8. My coil pack went in my Clio last year - about £50 for the parts, and RAC fitted it. Can't remember seeing the light on the dash for it though. As for Clio owners not wanting a Clio - I'm not in that boat. I bought my 'P' reg Clio (old box shape) nearly 4 years ago for £400. In the years I had it all I had to pay was insurance, petrol, tax, tyres, coil pack, and a new exhaust. It is the cheapest/most trouble-free car I've ever known. I sold it in January for £100 to a mate, and he just wanted to get 6 months out of it. It's already done 4 months and not cost him a penny on repairing it, and I reckon the state I gave it to him in it should see the year out without needing any work done on it.

  10. Just stumbled upon these and thought would post up the link as some of you guys may find them useful! Programming Reference Sheets - Software Development Tutorials | Dream.In.Code
  11. I'd guess it's a petrol by the fact the rev counter goes up to 7000, so if correct it won't be glow plugs. Looks like some kind of heart monitor symbol - maybe engine management light?
  12. See, we use Joomla here - but I would say it's far from user friendly (talking in terms of non-technical "what's a network cable" members of staff). It's great for us to update as we know our way around. But hand it to staff (in its bare form) and they'd got lost in a second. If I was going to allow staff to update pages I would code a custom website which was more restricted - allowed staff to change/add info but kept any added info to a strict theme. At moment it's too easy for them to change the font face, size, or weight. And when each page has different style fonts it just looks unprofessional.
  13. What about this? Home Access Plus+ It's mainly focused around RM EasyLink, but also provides an online booking system, and helpdesk etc.
  14. Nice work man. Nice and clean. Only gripe I would have is it is very thin, and with the higher resolutions in use today I would tend to widen it to around 1000 pixels. It looks a bit strange viewing something that thin on a big resolution as there is a load of white space (well, your background) at either side.
  15. Bright blue gives my eyes a challenge.
  16. It's frowned upon to add individual accounts on permissions. The standard way of practice is to create a new 'SEN' group, add that to the permissions on the folder, and then add any users that need access to SEN to that group.
  17. It's not generally a good idea to audit big folders and such as it can hit performance a great deal. Like I said above - NTFS permissions is probably the best way to go on the SEN folder. If you are worried about computers left unlocked why not change the policy for all members of the SEN group so that it locks the machine after a minute of no activity.
  18. I'm not sure about the password on the folder - but surely some correctly set NTFS permissions should control who can get what within each folder.
  19. We use Zimbra here, and setting up aliases is a doddle. Would imagine it to be fairly easy in any email system TBH. Do you have control over your email accounts or are they held with an external provider (like your LEA)?
  20. Those sites are blocked at a higher level filtering (filtering with the ISP - which we can also control), so if the staff were to unblock them in the whitelist they'd not get the whitelist blocked message, but instead the ISP blocked message.
  21. 2 years ago I was constantly blocking sites. I would block a site, and then watch the students just browse to another site and find the same game. It was an endless battle. It was then we decided to implement a whitelist filter. I created a Squid box with a PHP front end, that (using LDAP Auth) would allow staff to log on and unblock sites as they wished. The system has worked nearly flawlessly (touch wood) over the past year. The only problems are when the cache gets full and I have to empty it (which I am working on a solution to), and when a member of staff had 123 as their password, which the kids knew, so they could add their own sites. The system adds who unblocks what though, so removing these sites again was a doddle. Because it has been running for a year or so now, all the sites that get used a lot are unblocked, and only a few each day are unblocked now as the staff have most of what they want already in the list. That's what I'd do.
  22. The pitch is dyer at Wembley - but they have 8 years to sort it out. And as for the 'yobbish' behaviour - what would you call the murders that happen every day in South Africa?! Not to mention the extra millions that South Africa have had to be given to bring everything up to scratch. If South Africa can host it, and England can't then there is something seriously the matter with the world today. Can't rule anyone out of the World Cup - it's like the FA Cup in England. Anybody can quite literally win it. Thing is though, Argentina have left all their superheroes at home, and I honestly think Greece could give them a run for their money in the group stage.
  23. Ah, so you aren't really blocking anything with Football & World Cup - I think you secretly have a love for the sport, but are trying to prove otherwise.
  24. Who needs to pay for a sat dish - my area released FreeView HD in February. Bought my box and all ready for the World Cup! Once it is finished will probably move FreeView HD box upstairs and get Sky HD ordered for the new football season.
  25. And you are surely there to work, yet here you are posting up complaints about the World Cup. Oh, the irony =)
