This is my plan for April holidays. I am starting everything from fresh though, reinstalling all servers and the windows 10. New domain and all. Hoping in 1 week i can do everything so i can go on hol in week 2. Alot of work!

Its a tough one to choose. Wish there was a crystal ball. For the data drives im going to have to use the SATAs, The WD black have a 5 year warranty so hopefully last 6 month before i can use the 14 300gb sas in the newer server. Need to think up some new passwords to.

Hi All, I need a server for a few month to allow me to reinstall the entire network. We have a old admin server thats coming out of retirement as we cant afford a new server. This server will be the DC,Print and file server for a little while whilst i get everyone testing this new domain before finally wiping the existing servers and relieving the load on this temp server. Question is, not sure when this server was taken out of action. It has HP 146gb SAS drives in of unknown age. I have in their wrappers some new WD black 750GB SATA 7500rpm hard drives Which would you use for a raid 10? Im tempted to stick with the sata's and a external backup drive because i know the age and history.

Wonderful, looks like the goverment provides schools with prs license now. All i need to do then is setup a streaming server and find a music provider.

Ive just stuck the also discontinued windows live move maker into the MDT image for now. Not yet found another package similar to Serif

Hi All, Ive been asked at looking to provide music for our students whilst they are working. I've read http://www.edugeek.net/forums/licensing-questions/45359-mp3s-school-network.html but thats more about students/staff bringing in illegal downloads. Therees a couple of older posts without answers but dont want to dig up threads from 2010. Has anyone done this? Im trying to find out if the school buys a copy of the latest Now album, if we are then able to store on our file server for students across the school to play. This seems to go against the copyright rules though. Sites like Youtube and Spotify are blocked for our students. Radio sites wouldnt work as they would get fed up of adverts etc. Reading through the PRs license you have to log every bit of music and when it was used. Not something that will probably happen. Any ideas?

Hi All, Just about to roll out a captured Windows 10 image in MDT. Installed and captured by MDT Downloaded latest ADK and MDT, running on 2008 R2. However, the final summary gave this. The computer has installed and is joined to the domain. Litetouch deployment failed, Return Code = -2146893819 0x80090005 SMSTS log lists Any ideas?

Hi All, Just moved to a new school and they have a communication book currently done in onenote. However, this constantly gets corrupted, conflicting pages and sync issues. The file is held on a network drive. Is there any other ways of hosting this or any other software that can do real time multi user spreadsheet? I personally want it in SIMS as i dont like what they put on this book but hey ho, this is what they want and theres to much to do at the minute so cant argue. Many thanks

That's what I though. Give them a call and see what they tell you. Really annoying for schools, seems a odd move considering how popular it is. They should have done the new "in" thing where they don't have new versions but once in a while they update with a new feature and just patch security holes. Once SCCM is finally working il be looking for a new package

Tell me about it, such a good package but they are still selling it but no longer releasing any updates according to their sales team.

After using Serif for a number of years it looks like they are now discontinuing the whole line and focusing just on image editing. Just started at a new school and was going to put this package in but not paying for software thats no longer receiving updates. Adobe is well out of over our budgets. Has anyone else got any recommendations? We need, photo and movie editing at the least throughout the site. Many thanks

Uninstalled the wsus role, deleted the contents and the database. Then reinstalled the WSUS role. Took a snapshot after doing this though. SCCM is installing now, will see what happens. Currently at 40 minutes elapsed time.

ah, may have done that bit wrong then. Any way of rolling back wsus to preconfigured? Looks like im going to have to uninstall the role, delete the DB and the contents folder.

SQL, WSUS, and most prerequisites installed now. Takes a while to get it going but hopefully once WSUS has finished doing its thing il run the SCCM installer and everything will be ok. Spent a fair few hours just researching and installing though.

Thanks all, Just installing a new server to start trialling it out. Have until the 10th to get at least the desktop protection up and running as our current AV is about to expire.

Out antivirus is just about to run out and after reading several posts on here about using SCCM protection i think its time i had a look into it. We have EES licensing from Microsoft in the school, Do we get the new 2016 version free with this? What about SQL server, do/how do we get this, is it free also? If anyone has any good guides/info about SCCM then i would really appreciate it! Many thanks,

Just joined another school and they have a weird thing that when a user first logs into a machine it sets it up so if they click on a folder it opens it up in a new window. If they then click on the a folder in that folder it opens it up in a new windows. Cant see anywhere in the GPOs that would change this and cant see any registry edits. The only thing i can see is Classic shell is forced in explorer but dont think this causes that. Can anyone think where this is coming from? It happens on new machines installed from disk so not a pre-image change. Update. Looks like this is a classic shell issue after all from reading up a bit more. Not going to disable it until i have the new GPOs made.

Yep. Exactly how it is here. Can't get out quick enough. Just before leaving today though I managed to get it to sync the test account through imap. At least I don't have to log every one in to download and then log every one into the new system to import. In going to tell staff how to export their contacts through owa and make that their responsibility. Not the end of the world if they forget as I will still have access to their old emails.

LEA are being completely uncooperative. Have tried every setting to get the mailboxes to imap over but fails every time.
