The current email domain is used by most schools in the county so not something they would give us. Could be a reset all passwords the log in one at a time during the holidays and exporting myself. Trying to find a piece of software that will do this rather than outlook. No powershel or co-operative support for the old system.

Hi all, Moved into a new job, their email is run by the LEA which is HORRIBLE and they don't give out admin passwords, all new users and password requests go through them and a few days later they may be done. Have setup out own O365 online exchange and trying to think of ways of migrating people's emails. Best I can think of is to get everyone to login to outlook 2010/2013. Let it sync and then go round and export people's data. Not a fun task. Can anyone think of any other way? Many thanks

Have you checked the DC/File to see what the cpu and memory are like. Few weeks ago we were experiencing everything really slow. Impero had hung on the server eating all the CPU. Also check the server logs, we had a failed DC about 6 months ago. The main server gave up logging everyone a few weeks back finally saying something was up as i never took it out of the AD. Do you have Software Restriction Policies setup? Are all your DC's added in? When i first put it in here i only stuck the first DC in so when the laptops tried to use the second it took years to login but it took a little while for it to show. Also, have you check your file transfer speed to check the switches? Tried entering the DNS address manually?

Staff have quotas set on their drive of 10gb. Had it setup like that for a few years and not had any issues with login times. The sync all button takes just a few seconds to finish. Only time it would ever be a issue is if that put loads of data on their laptop out of school. Think its a background task though as i have never seen the logon delayed for sync tasks.

On the the file server have you added permissions for staff to see all folders in the share? EG. \\server\users$\Bob bob would need to have access to see all folders in the users$ share, doesnt need to be able to inside other peoples folders though. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/dc594a07-7702-4b68-acc5-17213805fec2/files-remain-offline-not-connected-after-connection-to-the-network?forum=itprovistanetworking mcserob posts on here is good. Here my offline GPO

Its weird, if its been running fine until recently my guess would be a update. The bare bones install, did it have windows updates installed. Try one without updates and just gpo settings. There doesnt seem to be anyone reporting anything new regarding this in the last month. Will let someone else chip in and see what they say. Going to be prob moving to win 10 soon. If not here, somewhere else depending where i am.

We had many issues with 8.1-10 with slow logins, even verbose logging didnt helped. Cant remember where it got stuck now. I did a few things that helped but never solved the issues. In the end we went back to win 7. -Turn on UseProfilePathExtensionVersion, this uses a different path for win 8 profiles to win 7 to avoid problems -Remove all non needed windows programs using a powershell scripts including - Set Startup policy processing wait time to 5 secs Just doing some reading and theres also a logon script that included that hangs. Try turning down the logon script delay.

Have some Windows 10 staff tablets with offline files enabled. Similar to profit10's post but slightly different. The home drive is made available offline. When you diconnect the tablet from the network and use the cached documents it goes into offline mode. Then if you connect back to the network again there doesnt seem to be a way of bringing the drive back online again. Going into the properties it says "This drive is offline with unsynced changes." Accessing documents from the drive doesnt force it to check if its online. Ive disabled slow link mode And added into the registry, SilentForcedAutoReconnect Users have access to the sync center which gives no errors. Anyone had this? Been searching and playing for a while.

Had a funny one with my mum the other night. Not sure if anyone has done it but if you have have a wet glass and turn it upside down and quickly put down it will move depending on how wet the surface gets. Mum did this with one of her old glasses after washing them and it moved about 10-15cm. She swears it was a ghost.

Had to do a similar thing just the other week. Our second DC went down a few months back. Shouldn't of had any roles assigned to it, was just a secondary. Came in the other morning to find nothing working, checked the DC and it was full of errors. Jist of it was, it couldn't communicate with the other for so long that it decided to refuse any logins. Went into AD and deleted the second offline DC and it goes through all the warning and it asks if the other server will be permanently offline so it can seize the roles forcefully without the other server needing to be on. Only takes a moment to do. With two DC's i dont think i would ever restore one, causes to many issues with syncing and stuff. Best to start it up in offline mode, grab your data and run. Just re-read and recheck 1 million times that your deleting the right one. Then check again.

iPad basket like this but in plastic/metal
DCUK6 replied to DCUK6's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Never did anything with it, We had issues with people not returning ipads so weve put them all in my office and they just carry them individually. -
Ive just got a old HDD connected to the server, cut and paste onto it any old stuff onto it. If noone complains in a year or 2 then its goodbye. Any old student photos i delete as your not allowed them after they leave.

We do it here for the public drives, yep FSRM. Set it up manually. If you set it to say 10gb it actually shows as a 10gb drive for everyone, people think thats how big the drives are as it goes red when the limit is almost reached so it gives us a excuse to shout at them to tidy. Just sorting out headings now, Going through the folders currently there and sorting into categories. Nice job for me next week. WE stopped any new folders on the share, wouldnt of done it myself as now people get lazy and just copy files into any folder instead of asking for a new one. Made it more messy.

Hi all, About 6 months ago i found a full recording of the warning message that would have been played by the bbc in the event of a nuclear attack. Sure it was the one recorded by Peter Donaldson. Can only find a clip now though and wanted to show the history teacher. Anyone got a link to it, cant remember where i found it. Cheers,

For a company that puts so much effort into their new hardware they absolutly stink at admin software.
-
Isnt that to do with using the managed distribution option. You can revoke licenses remotly so im asuming that the ipad will try to check its license with the mdm/apple servers. Bit stupid if u cant open the apps offline though. Just installing 6 ipads, will see if i get the same when offline.

HP OfficeJet Pro (Wide-Array Ink) Printers: a super boring review by me
DCUK6 replied to sonofsanta's topic in Hardware
Had one jam in it but ours is still going strong. Its been moved from the ict suite to the admin office so gets heavy printing all day. Had it running in draft mode in the ict and they only noticed the difference when i said, its now running in normal in the office as the stuff they print goes to parents etc. Never managed to stop it scanning wonky though. -
Have to say, theres a few extra features like extra text on the lock screen and extra restrictions but overall i think its worse than 1 in pretty much most ways. Bulk checking things is appalling, V1, you just click on usb connected and if there is a line rather than a tick next to a app then you know its not installed on all ipads. It updated the profile every time the ipads are connected.

More issues, Tried disallowing paring with non configurator hosts, that worked but you cant access files. Enabled pairing again and thats fine. Thought id try something out so disabled pairing again but no matter what i do i cant get it to update the profile to disable it again. Tried removing and reapplying. Also found once you apply a wallpaper you cant got back to default Reapplying the BP also assigns it a second VPP license...
